Toronto-raised fashion designer Maria Mak is all about being edgy and timeless, having created her own brand TwS for ‘savvy and confident women’.
Her line of clothing includes ready-to-wear plus evening wear that’s both modern and accessible, and truly embodies her brand’s motto of ‘Show the World from the Inside Out’.
Here, she shows us what her typical day in Hong Kong looks like through her Instagram feed.
The first thing I open my eyes to everyday is Chew Chew, aka. Chewbacca/my boy/the splendid thief. He always manages to put a smile on my face.
Time to play dress up in my dressing room with the three thinking hats. Hmm, what do I feel like wearing today?
The rich aroma of Nespresso and armswags are two things that I cannot live without. I love piling up rings and arm candies that I bought from little random shops along with the classics. I’m wearing a double strap from Furla that I bought in Italy and trio rings from Cheap Monday.
First task of the day is photo shooting our SS14 collection for a spread in magazine. Can’t tell you which one yet, so stay tuned!
Dashing back to studio to grab some samples for the interview later in the afternoon.
Having eggs benedict in one of my favourite cafés, Classified, which is truly a delight. It’s nice to have some quality time to myself before continuing the rest of the day.
Thank goodness that I had my necessity with me today. A girl can’t live without a good solid bag and super killer heels from Christian Louboutin.
My first time doing a radio show at RTHK, super excited!! Great thanks to Alex Lee, Angela Au, and Eric Hung for being such sweethearts!
Grabbing brunch with one of my good friend from Singapore, the designer of Q Menswear, at Lily & Bloom in Central. Who doesn’t love the fondue fountain?
Another interview with Hong Kong Polytechnic University, for their “10 Day Fest” Social Innovation Festival. After a few retakes, I am starting to get comfortable with the camera.
The Wine & Dine Festival is a must-go every year, especially this year where it is held at the New Central Harbourfront. Happy hour by the harbour — great idea!
Attending the annual party for Rotary Central at the China Club, we had to dress up like we were in the Old Shanghai. Located in the Old Bank of China building, The China Club is a members only venue known for its large and fine collection of Chinese art and turn of the century Shanghai style décor and cuisine.
Opening party at OIC Concept for “ilivefashion” X Akif Hakan Celebi Solo Exhibition. Special thanks to Akif, the talented photographer who takes amazing photos for the project, and my good friend, Carmen from Carmen Chan Jewelry.
“Never forgets your friend even when you are busy”. I remind myself and always keep my friends very close. Celebrating with the gals at The Press Room.
Rocking with the DJ and my friend Seong in Fatty Crab at Soho. Always love to fool around at the DJ booth and pretending I am jamming the tunes.
Some quiet time before heading to bed. My recent favourite is ‘Inside of A Dog’ by Alexandra Horowitz, a dog’s perspective of reading the human world.
