Current favourites: Laneige White Renew Purifying Mask

“I love three types of non-sheet mask (my favourite sheet mask has always been from ForBelovedOne).

I use Laneige White Renew Purifying Mask and Kiehl’s Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleaning Masque to focus only on the oilier parts of my face. I try to use these clay-based masks twice a week if possible, just to clarify the skin. I love them because they keep my oilier T-zone area feeling fresh and “cleaned out”, without drying my skin out.”

Beauty tip #1: When applying clay masks, try to rinse it off before it dries up completely, as this can lead to slight skin irritation, especially if your skin isn’t very oily.

Beauty tip #2: “I always leave a mask on for five minutes and then wash off with warm water before splashing some room temperature tap water over.”

Beauty tip #3: “When my skin gets slightly sunburnt after outdoors jobs, I will slather on Skinceauticals’ Hydrating B5 Mask. Applying double the required amount helps to cool the skin down and prevents the sunburn from worsening. I will first moisten my face with tap water and then spread a thick layer over. After five minutes, I’ll use the water nozzle to give a gentle facial massage (with the mask on) for about two minutes, following which the mask will have been diluted and rinsed off. This hydrates the skin more and also helps calm the skin down.”

Current favourite: Dermalogica Gentle Cream Exfoliator

“The Dermalogica cream masks uses a cocktail of chemical exfoliants including lactic acid and salicylic acid to polish the skin surface and clear out pores. It only takes five minutes but is very effective at decongesting pores and polishing skin without being aggravating. Pricey, but good value for money!”

Beauty tip: For best effect, apply a thin layer of the mask right after a hot shower or bath when your pores are open and your dead cells are softened and more “ready” to come off. Just leave it to dry for about five-10 minutes (it doesn’t harden) and rinse off gently. It’s an exfoliant though, so don’t over-use. I use it 1-2 times a week.”

Current favourite: Kiehl’s Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque

“I apply a facial mask once a week, and it’s hard to pick a favourite! I have skin that’s prone to pimples, so I tend to gravitate towards clay masks, with my current favourite being Kiehl’s Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque.”

Beauty tip: “For clay masks, I tend to leave them on until they are dry, since I have oilier skin, although I suspect people with dry skin may prefer washing the clay mask off before it dries fully, to prevent their skin from feeling too dry after use. I also have enlarged pores, so I usually apply a slightly thicker layer to cover my big pores, because a thinner layer may sometimes leave gaps over the pore openings.”

Current favourite: Fresh’s Rose face mask

“I apply face masks four times a week, and my current favourite is Fresh’s Rose Face Mask as it is a hydrating yet lightweight mask that’s gentle enough for daily use. The rose petals in also add a touch of softness and femininity. For my eyes, Glamglow’s Brightmud truly lightens my dark eye circles and brightens up my eyes immediately.”

Beauty tip: Various masks can be used at the same time. I use eye mask for eyes as well as Clarins Shaping Lift mask for chin & neck area and any other face mask (anti-ageing, brightening, deep cleansing etc) on other parts of the face all at once.”
