Super stylin’ looks at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Sydney 2016 (Part 2)

Updated on June 7 2016

While Sydney’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week isn’t really considered one of the big four (think London, Milan, Paris and New York), every year it’s prominence seems to rise as Australia’s local designers continue to make a big impact on the global fashion scene.

Of course, as much as the magic happens in the ateliers, it’s the street style that is equally eye-catching (and Instagram-worthy). We loved it so much we’ve given it a two-parter story.

Following on from part 1, here are our picks for the best looks blending Sydney’s eclectic street style with the super chic atmosphere of Fashion Week.

E! News Asia’s host, Yvette King, was spotted wearing a two-piece cornflower blue chiffon embroidered top and pants from S.E by Sant Elia, a ready-to-wear bridal and event diffusion line of the main label.

Colour coordinated partners can often look cheesy, but this is clearly one way to be effortlessly chic.

This monochromatic crochet shirt dress is a look that expresses both sophistication and an eye for intricate details.

4/21

A salmon pink statement coat is an attention-grabbing look to stand out.

5/21

Colour-blocking at its best. We love the vibrant splash of the tangerine jacket, ingeniously paired with a mustard Alexander Wang survival kit bag.

6/21

Colour’s not the only way to stand out. Go neutral with a similar spectrum of colours — in this case nudes and neutrals do all the talking.

7/21

Sometimes, simplicity is the key to effortlessly chic. This white shirt paired with a pair of classic aviators proves this point.

8/21

Of course, you can also go all out and be bold with quirky sunflower sunglasses and a paisley printed clutch.

Get a little sexy with a lingerie reveal, a little risqué but hey, it’s Fashion Week. The addition of a sheer knit top makes it even sexier in our opinion.

10/21

This off duty model totally stands out in the crowd with her strong makeup and dressed down style with a versatile crop top, skinny jeans and a statement coat.

11/21

How can we say no to this super cute, preppy chic look paired with bright vermillion booties?

12/21

Team up with your girls for some subtle colour coordination and a variety of footwear.

13/21

Being unique will always get you attention and this Jacquemus dress and a pair of pink-tinted cat eye sunglasses does that effortlessly.

14/21

Go Coachella chic with an eye-catching floral headband and a cloth neck choker.

15/21

Clothes makes the outfit but everything else is about attitude. Make sure you’re wearing the clothes and not vice versa.

16/21

Little details like these badges make a difference in taking your outfit to the next level.

17/21

Tartan is so not old school anymore. Wear it right and what you get is not stuffy but totally cool and rock ‘n’ roll.

18/21

We love a girl in an oversized coat and this brocade blazer could be something stolen from a boyfriend’s closet. Minimal accessories and jeans are all you need to complete this look.

19/21

They say that tattoos are a form of expression and art. So why not flaunt them by losing the shirt altogether? We aren’t complaining.

20/21

Clashing prints have to be one of our all-time favourite looks. Keep it to the same colour palette for a not-so-out-there version.

And to finish it off, Australia’s ‘It’ girl Sarah Ellen wears a Tommy Hilfiger pullover, Daniel Avakian striped trousers and Miu Miu top handle bag for the ultimate street style look for this Fashion Week.
