Get picnic-ready with Red Valentino Pre-Fall 2016

Updated on July 19 2016

Before her departure for Christian Dior, Maria Grazia Chiuri, co-creative director along with Pierpaolo Piccioli, was tasked in 2003 with designing a diffusion line. Known as Red Valentino, this became a softer and younger version of  Valentino, it’s younger, more innocent sister so to speak.

More carefree and exuberant as compared to Valentino’s heavy emphasis on romanticism with a dash of rock ‘n’ roll courtesy of the rockstuds, Red is known to be more feminine and demure while still retaining the brand’s edgy, chic attitude.

For their Pre-Fall collection this season, Red Valentino’s femininity was focused on being different. With dusty pink palettes and crochet floral motifs seen on shift dresses and midi skirts, this collection seemed perfect for a picnic date. Thus inspired, we’ve put together five outfits perfect for a day out with an elegantly packed lunch, whichever side of your personality you wish to be in that moment.

Beach babe

If you’re one of those lucky girls who keeps their summer body in the fall, go for that “fresh out of the ocean” look with a crochet knitted cropped bralet and midi skirt (which looks uncannily like a wraparound beach towel) with sneakers that you can easily slide on.

Get the look: Macroflower crochet detailed knit skirt (EUR 715), macroflower crochet detailed knit bralet (EUR 325), white sneakers with embroidery detail, burgundy leather shoulder bag.

Seventies girl

The seventies was all about the suede and bohemian aesthetic, and if you love that era’s style, this look will keep you hippy-chic. Throw on a floral embroidered t-shirt with a suede skirt with a belted waistline and put on some mid-heels. You can pack all your picnic goodies into this bag pack as well.

Rocker chick

If Courtney Love or Taylor Momsen are your style icons, or you just want to jump on the recent rock ‘n’ roll trend, do it with this grunge-gone-glam look with a maxi tulle dress and a pair of leather booties; a staple in every rocker girl’s closet. Finish off the look with a top handle bag accessorised with various key charms.

Get the look: Embroidered tulle dress (EUR 1,090), calfskin leather heeled booties (EUR 750), floral printed leather top handle bag (EUR 1,010), flowers on tree leather key ring (EUR 155), flower leather key ring (EUR 155).

Sixties mod

Relive London’s swinging sixties by channeling style icon Twiggy and her mod girl style with a brightly-coloured shift dress. Keep it fun and friendly with soft hues and shoes with geometric prints. Remember to finish your entire look with falsies to achieve those doll-like eyes.

Get the look: Suede top handle bag (EUR 800), bow detail cady tech dress (EUR 490), geometric printed mid heel with ankle strap.

Romantic pseudo-goth

If you’re feeling all dark and gothic, go for a full black outfit with a tulle lace dress and headband with an attached veil (for some added mystery and romance). Throw on a pair of rain boots — perfect for any unexpected Singapore showers.

Get the look: Hairband with veil (EUR 175), rain boot with floral leather details (EUR 340), fancy flower embroidered t-shirt dress (EUR 545), leather bag with floral appliqués.
