Pairing whiskies with chocolates is gradually getting popular in the US and UK. But in Kuala Lumpur and neighbouring cities in Southeast Asia, consuming them together is still quite rare. This prompted Glenfiddich, one of the world’s leading sellers of single-malt Scotch whiskies, to team up with local bespoke chocolatier company Chocolate Concierge to promote the delightful combination of the two guilty pleasures in this side of the world.
This collaboration marks the second time that the two brands are working together to bring out the best flavours in whisky and chocolate. In an intimate pairing night held at Omakase + Appreciate last 18 July, several #LSAFriends gathered together to savour the interaction of flavours between Glenfiddich’s 12-, 15-, 18-, and 21-year-old Scotch whiskies with a new set of customised chocolates from the local chocolatier.
Former beauty queen Yvonne Lee, model Jazel Lim, entrepreneur King Quah and socialite Elana Yaacob joined Lifestyle Asia in sampling the first batches of chocolates, which are made from beans fermented in two Glenfiddich whisky casks — something that has never been done in chocolate-making before.
