Updated on January 9 2018

While we travel to discover various destinations and soak in different cultures, another important aspect most travellers take into consideration is the accommodation. Besides, a hotel is the sanctuary we retreat into to relax after a day of exploring. So it is no wonder then that some people choose where to go depending on the selection of luxury hotels in the destination. In fact, some people have a bucket list of iconic hotels around the world to stay in.

Last was an exciting year in the hospitality industry, seeing dramatic hotel mergers (think Starwood and Marriott), along with some of the best hotel and resort openings all around the world. In Paris, the iconic Hôtel de Crillon opened its doors after a four-year restoration. The timeless Parisian hotel is located at the foot of Champs-Élysées at the iconic Place de la Concorde. Closer to home is Bawah Island, an untouched paradise located just three hours from Singapore.

This year is set to be no different, with various hotel openings taking place all around the globe. From Raffles Hotels’ latest venture to a nature resort located in the remote foothills of the breathtaking Virunga Mountains home to wild mountain gorillas, check out these luxury hotel openings in 2018 to inspire your next vacation.
