Anantara Hotels & Resorts set to take over Asia Pacific, Africa and South America with 8 new properties in 2018/19

It all began with its first luxury property in Thailand’s historic seaside retreat of Hua Hin, when luxury hotel group Minor Hotels launched the Anantara brand in 2001. Since then, Anantara Hotels & Resorts continued to expand in the world’s most exciting destinations — from cosmopolitan cities, lush islands, desert sands, heritage sites to uncharted beaches  — and the rest is history. Today, there are 45 Anantara properties located in 13 countries across Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, and it shows no signs of stopping. The luxury brand will be expanding its portfolio in 2018/19 with 8 new properties, 4 of which will mark the its entry into new destinations — namely Malaysia, Brazil, Tunisia and Mauritius.

Anantara Quy Nhon Villas

Opening: Late November 2018

A third property in Anantara’s portfolio of luxury resorts in Vietnam, Anantara Quy Nhon Villas is located in a secluded bay in south central Vietnam, featuring 26 one- and two-bedroom ocean-facing villas ensconced amidst 7.2 hectares of landscaped tropical gardens. The hotel will house Sea Fire Salt, an all-day dining venue serving up abundant local seafood and regional flavours, and a swim-up bar where premium cocktails, Vietnamese craft beers and Cuban cigars will be served in a spectacular ocean-facing setting. Designed to blend into the pristine beaches and emerald waters with easy access to local cultural attractions, the hotel provides the perfect base to discover this lesser known destination in Vietnam.

Anantara Maraú Bahia Resort

Opening: Late 2018

Hailed as the first Asian hotel flag to come to Brazil, the property will offer a new gateway to South America when it joins the brand’s luxury portfolio end of this year. Located on a deserted stretch of Atlantic coastline on the tip of the Maraú Peninsula in Bahia — home to virgin rainforest, World Heritage sites, and an intoxicating fusion of Afro-Brazilian culture — Anantara Maraú Bahia Resort embodies castaway luxury. With a choice of 30 guest rooms, suites and bungalows in beachfront and garden settings, the resort pays tribute to Bahia’s ecotourism with natural design and thatched roofing that blend seamlessly with exotically landscaped gardens. Anantara Tozeur Resort

Opening: Early 2019

Located in the southwest of Tunisia on the edge of the formidable Sahara, Anantara Tozeur Resort rises up out of the shimmering desert, offering 93 luxurious guest rooms and villas decorated with bricks to reflect the oasis city’s distinct and beautiful architectural style. Guests can lap up the silence of the desert, dine on local cuisine under the stars, enjoy luxury hammam rituals, and luxuriate in private villas — all in the comfort of Arabian hospitality. The new-build Anantara will also make a great starting point to explore the region, with day trips across the desert include visits to the abandoned villages of Chebika, Tamerza, and Mides, and the film set of the original Star Wars.

As part of Desaru Coast, a new premium integrated resort located in Johor on the southern tip of Malaysia, Anantara Desaru Coast Resort & Villas is a 123-room family-oriented beachfront resort with activities that will cater guests of all ages. Joining sister hotels Anantara Seminyak and Anantara Uluwatu, Anantara Ubud Bali Resort marks the group’s third property on the Island of the Gods.
