Casual ruffle tops

Ruffle tops are pretty last season but I don’t care. They’re just so pretty! Now that the weather is warming up, I’ve been on the search for casual ruffle tops. Emphasise on casual: this means cotton or something I can just throw into the washing machine, (thereby implying it should be cheap too.) Now obviously, a silk ruffle top would be much more gorgeous than a cotton ruffle top (-Rebecca Taylor did beautiful silk tops last season,) as silk makes ruffles shinier, brighter and move more fluidly, but I’m looking to wear it as casual daywear.

This is the first one I found. The store didn’t have my size left–just when I finally find something I liked in Mango! (I usually don’t shop much in Mango because for some odd reason, I just never seem to find anything there. And this is echoed by some of my friends.) Though now that I’m staring at it more carefully, I don’t think I like it so much anymore. Thank goodness I didn’t buy it!

Another ruffle top I tried on at Mango is this silk top. It looks pretty, right? Its colour is called ‘coral’ on the website, though it looks more like orange in real life. See, maybe this is why I never find anything at Mango.

Colourful, ruffle tops for the summer! The one on the left is by Forever21 and the one of the right is by Mango.

For something more ladylike, check out this ruffle sleeves top by French Connection.

By the way, if you’re going to buy a ruffle top, do be careful of overloading on the details. With the scrunched up fabric on the top, ruffles on the sides and the bubbled shape at the bottom, this top just doesn’t look quite sleek.

I must add, please be weary of any clothing that encourages your body to look droopy or saggy. Sometimes ruffles have the ability to do that but the ruffle tops shown above are cute cute cute!

These tops are everywhere! The first one I saw was at Banana Republic in the winter when it was too cold for short sleeves. I bought it anyways because it was super cute on and I thought I might not find another one. Was I wrong! I've seen a version in almost every store I go into.

This usually makes me avoid a trend, but they are too cute to resist. I have about 3 in various colors now, and I think I might pick up that French Connection one:)

let me check, uh..... love the last one most. ruffles always make one feminine enough and I'm thinking to get one as I'm always criticized to be not girlish enough
