Nikki Beach Comes to Koh Samui, Thailand

On 25 April 2009, I had a great opportunity to attend the grand openning party of "Nikki Beach Samui" with a signature 'White Party' themed launches. I believe that many people might have heard or a few have visited Nikki Beach St. Tropez, Miami or in any other 6 countries around the world.

Nikki Beach is one the world's most recognizable luxury landmark and hot spot destination of the world's most beautiful, celebrated, rich, and powerful people. It's has established itself as the landmark for ultimate parties, celebrations, and entertainment brand and has added a beautiful island, Koh Samui in Thailand to its list.

I have to admit that the party was spectacular with a beautiful and stunning crowd of over 1,000 socialites and celebrities with Thais and foreigners alike. Throughout the party, there were series of spectacular performances which captured the attention of many guests. By midnight, just on my way leaving, I saw beautiful fireworks and end with Nikki Beach logo firework lit above in the sky.

It's a newest destination founded by Jack Penrod. For further information please visit www.nikkibeach.com.

A Quality Time at Wat Sakaew Orphanage

Today, I, my friends, and my family just made a visit to Wat Sakaew in Ang Thong Province, near Ayutthaya to offer ice cream, cake, gifts, and other necessities to the orphanes during lunch time. And also for the occasion of one of our friend, Pad Rubporn's birthday today that she would like to do good deed by showing her care and attention to these children.

We all believe that seeing others happy also make us happy. The happiness comes from the positive mind and attitude towards yourself and others. Nontheless, the smiles on the children's faces painted a thousand words. The joy that's brought to us when seeing happy faces was so amazing, yet at most reasonable cost, which I only spent THB 1,500 after divided with few friends. Who would belive that such a little amount of money that we can spare, together with our caring can bring along happiness to so many people. Therefore, with the term "Money cannot buy happiness" is not always true. However, again loving and caring need to be involved. All these children hunger for attention and someone who cares.

These children were so well behaved, proper, and organized, and importantly so innnocent and charming. We can tell from the way they dutifully lining up quietly to receive their meal, from the way they sit and eat, which they only talked quietly among themselves and eat slowly. Before they eat, they were praying for us by showing their respect and gratitude by 'wai'. Their praying was deeply touched by all of us.

This is not the 1st time that I get involved with Wat Sakaew Orphanage as I am also part of Party 4 Charity Organization (founded by Shannon Kalayanamitr and Natalie Glebova Srichaphan) where we organized 2 big events (Dare 2 Dream at Nomad on Nov'08, and DJ Benny Benassi at 808 on Mar'09) that were able to raise more than THB 200,000 for building lhe library for the children.

Please visit www.party4charityasia.org

We also would like to thank you to Donations From Friends Organization who had given us many gifts and necessities for this trip donation. They accept all kinds of donations, from books, old eye glasses, cloths, and etc. They are located just on Sukhumvit Soi 22 and open 24 hours for people to drop off stuff.

Please visit www.donationsfromfriends.org

Facebook Etiquette

It has been a long while since my last blog as I've been busy concentrating on my new job and didn't find anything interesting to write about in the meantime.

This time I'll write about something that is so close to me and mostly everyone else too as it's something that we are all encountering everyday which is becoming an important part of our lives now, well especially to me.

It's "social networks". I am fascinated by the amount of social networks that are existing in the cyber world now. Needless to say, I am also part of one of these social networks which is "Facebook". I've started in Nov'06. As an early adopter, I befriended just about anyone I had some sort of association with.. A lot of them which is about 50% out of 2,076 my Facebook friends are 'random' in the sense that I don't have a clue who they really are. The rest I actually have a connection with all of these individuals in some capacity. Surprisingly, while the number is quite high, I actually am pretty conservative about my friend selection starting last year and declined requests from many unknown folks regularly. It comes with my social media maturity, I suppose.

My two main reasons for social networks that I take seriously: For keeping in touch with everyone who has somewhat of a personal connection to me, and for business opportunities and for networking with colleagues.

It has come across to me as a regular "User" that there's a lack of social media etiquette that's happenning and hope by writing this will improve it to a certain extend.

- Abusing group invites. If your friends are interested, they'll join without your 'encouragement." And if they don't accept, don't send the group request more than once by asking them to join via email, wall post, or Facebook message.

- Turning your Facebook profile into a pitch so that you can gather leads through your Facebook connections. Facebook is about friendship and not too much focusing on business that it becomes too obvious.

- Using fake name and fake profile picture as your identity. I don't want to add you unless you can be honest about who you are. Why should I add fake identity as a friend?.

- Publicizing a private conversation on a wall post. Well, I did that myself and didn't do any good to me, rather got me into trouble. Private matters should be handled privately.

- Tagging individuals in unflattering pictures that may end up costing your friends embarassments or troubles. You need to ask your friends' permission before tagging this kind of pictures.

- Here are the most annoying behaviors that I've been encountering; some people especially men repeatedly asking me to be friends regardless of how many times I rejected them.

For men that like to collect beatiful women in their friend list, please stop doing so unless they are your friends. What's the purpose behind your request? Or it is just to be proud on your profile?

And last but not least, giving rude remarks or comments on wall post or photo comments. Sometimes, I received some nasty comments from men that I don't really know. Please give others some respect!

Remember that social media communities should be real relationships, real conversations, and such, they should be treated like they are real. It's not about a me, myself, and I mentality. It's about the collective, the community, and the common good. So don't abuse it and use it as a tool to flirt and allure others in such ways that you are taking advantage and being dishonest to your Facebook friends.

A Long Trip to Pai, Mae Hong Son

I always have a passion for driving. Will drive everywhere when I get a chance to. I drove in USA across the states from San Francisco to New York City before, and also from Bangkok to Genting, Malaysia. It was fun and exciting to explore each city and a beautiful scenery along the road.

Last week I just took a trip to Pai in Mae Hong Son Province. It was a very long drive trip which took about 12 hours to get there, not including driving to Mae Hong Son for another 3 hours. The fun for me is to be on the road before reaching to any destinations.  I've been hearing about Pai for a long time, so this time when I get a chance during my last holiday before starting my new job, I suddenly took that chance and went for it. Pai district is situated about half way between Chiang Mai and Mae Hong Son, the mistly town on the Burmese border.

For me, Pai was exactly what I needed and looked for. it was a breakaway from the Bangkok's craziness. Here I can really relax and free myself, not thinking about work or anything that would give me frustrations. I can be free at least for few days before coming back to Bangkok and concentrate on my new work and business.

I experienced an utter and total relaxation once arrived to Pai, seeing the most fertile and beautiful nature in the north of Thailand. It was an exceptional experience that I rarely encountered. The people in Pai are genuine and warm. They are mainly Thai Yai (from Burmas Shane state) and hill tribes (Lisu, Lahu, Karen). In town mainly Thai, Thai-Chinese, some Thai-Muslim and some foreing residents. I occasionally spotted people dressing in their traditional dressing which I believe that these Thais and hilltribes are trying to keep their traditions alive, not just by dressing up, but also house style, food and entertainment which making Pai so charming and attractive in its original way.

Eventhough Pai is just a small town but it can offer enough facilities such as a hospital, post office, internet service and etc. Moreover, accommodations and restaurants there are traditionally beautiful and cheap.  Most of the resorts and guest houses are in town and the scenic most beautiful ones are along the river. In the proximity of the town are spas, and elephant-camps. Outside of town, there are several hotsprings, and a waterfall. Another notable attraction that I went every nights is the 'Walking Street' which can draw large crowd of tourists and villagers each night with live music clubs, beer bars, restaurants, shops along on the street.

Ban Rak Thai
Walking street

did 1864 curves road drive to Mae Hong Son and got a certificate for it.
Black Canyon in Pai

I visited many tourist attractions such as Ban Rak Thai, Long Neck Karen Vilage, Bang Ung. I've always wanted to see the Long Neck for a long time and they impressed me with their genuine smile and talent. They can play guitar and sing beautifully. I always wonder why they have to wear such heavy brass rings on their neck. So this time I did not hesitate to ask these women and the tour guide.  But the reason for this behaviour is lost in history, but some believe the rings saved women from attacks by tiger. Whatever the reason, lots of people venture out to the villages to see the women for themeselves like me.

Pang Ung is also another favorite pisturesque destination of mine. I arrived there at 6am and waited until the sun to slowly rise. That time the temperature was hover around zero, which when was cover with thin ice. It was like a Switzerland in Thailand.

Bang Ung

The total stay experience in Pai was excellent and memorable. Last but not least, I took a trip to Chiang Mai once again. This time I went to Vieng Kum Kam. This is an ancient site which is the remains of the city buit by King Mengrai before he founded Chiang Mai in its present location. I took a horse ride to expolore around the city and old temples, and learn about early Lanna history from a local tour guide.

Vieng Kum Kam, Chiang Mai

At night, I explored the Chiang Mai Walking Street, which was the longest walking street I've ever seen. The place was packed with tourists and locl people who strolled along the road to to shop local souvenirs and food.

My northern trip has always been memorable and definitelyI will go back there when I have a chance.

The Charity Premier of The Elephant King

This night was just another special night for me as I was taking part in one of many charity events which I always have passion for. I iwas just involved in an event called "The Charity Premier in the Land of the Elephant King".  This event was organized by De Warrenne Pictures which belongs to my good friends; Tom and Oscar Waller.

 Florence and Bank Pawalit

Florence, Oscar, Bank, and Tom Thaitanium

Jeed Sangthong and Florence

The name of my painting called "Mother and Baby Return to Forest" My inspiration came from a love between Mother and a Child and that they should not be seperated no matter if they were human beings or animals. And that the elephants should be released to forest, not wanderring iaround n the city and being tortured by human.

My painting  can raise THB 6,000 for my painting

My family who came to support. My painting was sold to Desho and Ratchadakorn at THB 6,000.

Fortunately, I had a chance to meet with Miss Soraida Salwala, Founder of Friends of the Asian Elephant (FAE). She is a very kind hearted lady who has put so much effort to improving living conditions of the elephants since she was young. I really admire her spirit and her contributions and I wish her a great success with many supports for her foundation.

My 6 Days in Hong Kong

I've just returned from a long trip in Hong Kong. Have been there many times and it has never dissapointed me; the sensation is always there with a unique 'Hong Kong' experience. One thing I love about Hong Kong is the energy you feel just walking around the streets. On certain hours of the day the place is just buzzing with people. Walking around this Christmas holiday, the city's bars, clubs, shopping malls, wakling streets and in fact nearly every parts of the city appeared to be bustling. On Christmas Eve, I was walking on Wyndham Street on my way to Dragon-i where the crowd spilled out on the street with many policemen were traffic controling. The massive crowd was much more deeper than usual. The clubs themselves were jam packed that you can't barely move.

Dragon-i

I have noticed that these past many years, people in Hong Kong have come to care alot about what they wear. They have a strong sense of fashion and are more conscious of the international brands where the inspiration is coming from. Main streets are starting to look more like the fashionable avenues in key international cities. For example, Causeway Bay has become almost an eastern version of Fifth Avenue in New York. An upscale shopping mall, displays such brands as Chanel, Dunhill, Cartier, Christian Dior, Fendi and so on. There are even more choices of local brands tucked away on side streets around the city.

Causeway Bay

Popular dresses for women in winter season are nice coats, jackets, hats and boots. When I was there, the weather was not that cool with an average of 20 degrees, but it was only the winter season that they get a chance to wear winter clothes. So almost everyone was wearing jackets and boots which are a fashion statement in Hong Kong. I have to admit that winter cloths and boots that they have there are magnificent as I am a big fan of these items especially knee boots, but wheather in Thailand is just not suitable for me to wear them.

Overall, it was an exceptional experience as usual, however I would not want to stay there any longer as I prefer more of a quiter and relaxing city with a nicer environments where you don't have to face a hectic everyday.

A House Visit to Mr. Chuchai's, A Fine Jewelrer

One evening I had an honor to be one of the very few guests to attend a private dinner party at P'Chuchai (Mr. Chuchai Chairitthilerd)'s house.  C2 By Chuchai is the featured Brand of Mr. Chuchai, the founder of "Gempeace by Chuchai." C2 by Chuchai is Thailand's premier jewelry and house of design, whose merchandise offerring is an extensive selection of differentiated fine jewelry. Not only his fame and talent that atttract and capture attention of many people, it's also his charming and sincere personality that attract me as well as many people around him. I've also been inspired by his determination to make his "DREAMS" come true and hope he can also inspire many others who are trying to achieve their dreams.

The house located on Ramindra Rd. with a value of more than 2 Million Bahts.

"The Story of C2 by Chuchai starts in 1968 when Mr. Chuchai Chairitthilerd, the chairman of the company, was in elementary school in Bangkok, Thailand. One day in the class, the teacher asked students what they wanted to do for a living in the future. Unlike others who typically wanted to be a doctor, a teacher, a banker, or a pilot, Mr. Chuchai answered that he wanted to be a jeweler. The idea of designing the jewelry is inspired since then. At only age eleven he started working at his sister’s gift shop at Indra Hotel, Bangkok, right after his father’s passing in 1973. In 1975 Mr. Chuchai finished his elementary school. Unfortunately, he can not continue his school as wishes because his family can only support his older brother who passed the entrance exam to Chiangmai University. Mr. Chuchai had since then worked full time with his older sister. Mr. Chuchai promised to himself that he had to be successful in the business world. Most of customers at his sister’s gift shop at Indra Hotel are foreigners. He learned a lot from customers how to be a good salesperson. After 5 years, Mr.Chuchai proposed his sister the idea of retailing jewelry as he dreamed. Even they were not sure whether they would be successful, they decided to start retailing the jewelry. Luckily, Baht 1,000 revenue became 10,000 then 100,000 and more. Soon after, Mr. Chuchai decided to design the jewelry. Customers instantly fell in love with his exquisite designs. After Mr. Chuchai gained enough experiences in the jewelry field, he gathered all his savings to open a small jewelry stand at the Emporium Shopping Complex in 1997. He gradually earned his reputation through his superb ‘one in a million’ jewel design piece and also his charming attitude. Not long after, Mr. Chuchai decided to put his career in to the fast lane when he opened a full scale jewelry shop under the name Gempeace by Chuchai at Central World Shopping Complex in 1999, following with full scale shops at The Peninsula Plaza in 2004 and The Emporium Shopping Complex in 2005. Gempeace carefully selects raw materials from the finest source from all over the world. “Gems and pearls are always popular,” said Mr. Chuchai. “I love them all, whether its gems, pearls or diamonds. I like them because the endless varieties of designs and colors that I can play with. When I design a piece, I want it to stand out. I want my jewelry to make a person feels glamorous when he or she puts it on.” Mr. Chuchai continued, “Customers’ trust is what makes us who we are today. We have many celebrities who have become our regulars. Gempeace is unique from the rest because I design every piece, none are the same. In other words when you buy a Gempeace, you‘re guaranteed that it’s one of a kind; each one possesses a unique soul characteristic. There’s a piece for everybody, small ones for everyday wear to the master piece for special nights. In my shop you can always find your soul piece at Gempeace.” In the beginning of 2008, Mr. Chuchai has launched 2 brands, “C2 by Chuchai” and “Chuchai Gempeace or CC.” Mr. Chuchai said, “Gempeace is the mother, CC is the oldest sister, and C2 is the younger.  C2 By Chuchai is built on a unique idea: Luxury does not need to be expensive. C2 by Chuchai offers unique and differentiated fine jewelry at affordable price. Mr. Chuchai said, “Our objective for C2 is to continue to grow our leadership position in our core business by offering exceptional value to our customers through supply chain efficiencies, an efficient cost structure and a high quality customer experience. “C2” is stylish and affordable. We have built a well respected consumer brand by employing an informative sales process that empowers our customers while offering a broad selection of high quality and differentiated jewelry at competitive prices.”

C2 by Chuchai at the present has 2 branches at the Crystal and Major Avenue, Bangkok.

True Friendship is The Greatest Gift of All

I am a person who strongly value true friendship. I have very few true and best  friends, but plenty of acquaintances or casual friends. My best friend is a person with whom I share extremely strong interpersonal ties with. I totally devoting myself and rendering my full support to my best friends in time need and crisis. I beliveve that true frindship requires these factors; the tendency to desire what is best for the other, sympathy and emphathy, honesty, and mutual understanding.

There was just an incident that happpened to me which hurt my feelings to a certain extend as I considered that person as one of my close friends before. But I've been betrayed by her regardless of how much love, friendship, and trust I had for her.

There are few lines that I've remebered from reading it awhile ago from the internet somewhere (I don't recall).

"My life fill full with pure energy. Every day is a miracle.
Accompany with true companions,
manage a certain distance with the insincere friends,
and avoid the enemies."

Enemies if them understand one ways, they still tell fake stories to defame others, because they are enemies for all. Insincere friends, even if they appear friends with good understanding, when hearing gossip about their companion, they blindly suspect and distrust their own friends, and stepping away, because they are sincere friends for almost everyone.

True companions, understand their companions by their own wisdom. When someone blame their friends, they will defend and support them. They will never accompanying those who blame their friends, instead they step away, because they are true companions for almost everyone.

Hidden Oasis: Bang Namphueng Floating Market

This morning I woke up deciding how and where I and my family can have a quality Sunday. My husband again, was suggesting many different places and I was striked and showed a sudden interest when he said "Bang Namphueng Floating Market" in Phra Pradaeng District as it reminded me of "Amphawa Floating Market" in Samut Songkram Province that we went few months ago and liked it very much. However, Bang Namphueng is so much closer as it's only 29 km from Bangkok.

When we drove across the Industrial Ring Road Bridge and looked over to Phra Pradaeng District on the bridge, we can easily spot the area with green scenery which stands out from the city scenery nearby. It seemed to us like a "Lost World" or a "Hidden Oasis" right just nearby Bangkok. It was like escaping Bangkok without leaving it.

Bang Namphueng is a new floating Market located in Tambon Bang Namphueng, Phra Pradaeng District, in Samut Prakarn Province. It's originated under the cooperation between the Bang Namphueng Subdistrict Administration Organization and local community in an attempt to release superabundant crops and, as a consequence, create employment and income to the community.
According to the Tambon Administration Office (TAO) of Bang Namphueng, the floating market that's been operating 3 years now attracts an average 39,000 visitors a month, which 6% were foreigners.

Similarly to Amphawa Floating Market, these 2 places are more popular amongst the Thai tourists as I can only spot very few foreigners there. Hopefully in the near future, they can attract more international tourists as they represent the beautiful Thai traditional ways of life and traditional Thai food which can not easily find elsewhere. The charm of Bang Namphueng is the canelside lifestyle of the local community. It's a new destination to enjoy shopping in the local Thai atmosphere in a rich green area where numerous plants are thriving.

There are 100s of food stalls selling OTOP products, fresh vegetables and fruits, hand-made products are also available.  There are variety of hot dishes, snacks and desserts at cheap prices. Thai tradional body and foot masage are also available which my husband and I had foot massage at cheap price, BHT 100/30 mins.

Usually most people don't go back home with empty hands and empty stomach, just like us, we were holding many plastic bags filled with different kinds of food and our stomach were so full from eating along the way.

MORE INFO:

Bang Namphueng floating market opens on weekends from 8am - 2pm. Apart from shopping and eating, visitors can rent bicycles (THB 30/hour) for a tour of Samul Prakarn's green zone or paddle a wooden boat (THB 20/hour) along Khlong Bang Namphueng. There are houses offer homestay at THB 250/person/night.

Getting there from Bangkok, drive to Rama IX Bridge and turn left into Suk Sawat Road. An alternative route is take the Industrial Ring Road Bridge and cross over to Suk Sawat Road. Then drive onto Phra Pradaeng market, turn left to Wat Songtham and drive for 5 kilo metres before turning right, follow the road signs, the market is a kilometre down the road.

For more information, call the Bang Namphueng Tambon Administration Office at 02-819 6762 ext 110 and 081 171 4930. The Tourism Authority of Thailand at 037 312 282.

PARTY4CHARITY: DARE 2 DREAM was a success!

At last ,the party 'DARE 2 DREAM" 'What i wanna be when i grow up"  that was held at Nomad Club on Fri 28th Nov'08 was over with a great success! We have earned support from many people and was able to raise more than THB 200,000.

All the proceeds will go directly to Wat Sakaew, in Ayuthaya/Angthong just north of Bangkok. It's a school  for orphans and unfortunate children, totally self-managed with no support from the government and entirely dependent on donations. The school consists of more than 1,000 children ranging from kindergarten to high-school level. All proceeds from ticket sales and 108 Punna book sales will go to building the library for these children so they can learn by themeselves and be more educated.

It was the first party that our group "PARTY4CHARITY" had organized. The Founders are Natalie Glebova-Srichaphan and Shannon Kalayanamitr, with the team core members who are; Ace Thanaboon Somboon, Mark Thanop Eiamamorpan, Arsit Prachaseri, Nishita Shah. Surasak Kerdsin, Flow Cocktail Co., Ltd, Cloud Nine Communications Co., Ltd, and myself. (www.party4charityasia.org)

Each party will focus on a different foundation of reputable cause and institution, and each event will be tailored to the theme of the foundation.

This 1st one was focusing with "108 Punna Photography Project" which was organized by Ace Thanaboon Somboon and Mark Thanop Eiamamornpan.

"108 Punna: Faces of the Future Book" is a collection of portraits that aims to reflect the dreams of 108 children from Wat Sakaew Foundation. These children were encouraged to share their imagination for the future by taking on the guise of the professions they hope to one day follow. (www.108punna.com)
