Monkey Bar, the new Tapas

I am a huge fan of Tapas Silom Soi 4, I actually think that it's one of the best clubs to go to! Definitely remind me of Drop in Hong Kong but of course it's a Bangkok version of Drop. Monkey Bar boasts on Facebook to have a DJ coming down from Studio 54 and guarantees the fun. We decided, why not try a new place for a change, after all, who doesn't love a remix of 80's music. By 11pm the place was actually packed full with people and more coming even before midnight. Dance floor is a dance floor not a place to mingle and chit chat at MB. What reminds us of Tapas when we are at MB is probably the drummer and the fact that they played .... la de da say do you remember la de da dancing in September la de da never was a cloudy day ... Even thought it was a cloudy night, Monkey Bar sure lights up our night! ________________________________________________________________Saturdays at Monkey Bar is Ladies Night. Free entry all night!Monkey Bar, Fallabella 100 Rajdamri Rd.,Rajdamri Station (BTS) +662 252 5131_________________________________________________________________

Rainy Weekend with Mauro Picotto

This weekend at 808 we have Mauro Picotto spinning pure electronic music from midnight till dawn. The Italian trance musician recently launched the album 'Meganite Ibiza,' and for a DJ, he is not only a spinner but a looker. 808 seems to be the spot that I hang out at these days, not only do they bring the blast from the past music icons but the up and coming one as well. Soon enough we'll get to see Mr. Steve Aoki, I met him at Chloe Fashion Show last year and I can't wait to see him again, hopefully he can still remember me!If you haven't been to 808 yet then now is the time. ________________________________________________________________Lexie Lee on May 22nd, 2009 Steve Aoki on May 28th, 2009________________________________________________________________

Thursdays, the new Fridays

It's officially official that Thursday nights are the new Fridays. Not that I remember since when people started going out on Thursdays but as long as the spot is happening I am down for it. After visiting the Tetto Lounge at Anantara Baan Rajprasong I decided to stop by at 808 to see the Andy C scene. Considering the fact that I am not a big Drum & Bass fan I must admit, Andy C do have quite a bit of the followers and he is actually pretty good! Maybe he was playing commercial D&B or maybe I just had too many procesco but either way, by midnight 808 was full with D&B fans doing their thing on the dance floor. It's kind of nice to see that people are still with a party spirit even when it is raining down in Bangkok on a Thursday night.

More Friends, More Money Theory

Facebook, Hi5, Twitter, to MySpace has become a part of our lives one way or another, it's a way for you to keep in touch with your friends and family. Meghan Daum recently wrote an article in LA Times about a friendaholism, "I'm wondering if the joke is on me. Is her salary 2% higher for every extra friend she has on Facebook?"If the theory is actually true, every random person you add actually has value to your salary then I guess some Facebook addicts can rest at peace in front of their screen adding more 'friends' when they are not even friends. Social networking sites is no doubt a great tool for marketing but how personal can you get with people online when you can actually take time and get to know them in person and build a '3D-face-to-face' relationship just incase Twitter server goes down one day."As depressing as that is, it's hardly surprising. In the mind of the friendaholic, having one friend you can count on apparently just isn't as fun as having thousands of friends to count up," said Maghan. Facebook is definitely fun especially when I am bored at 1 a.m. in the morning but to actually have a sole purpose of having-the-most-friends-on-Facebook, is still a very far to be formed concept for me.Maybe we might make more sales through being more active online but as for me, nothing beats personal relationship and by that I mean a person I can actually walk with on the street of Bangkok rather than on Second Life.

Hanging Out with Life

You know how sometimes you have that mini-intuition that you just shrug it off, I did that today. My brother turned 9 today, first thing I did in the morning was asked him what he wants for his birthday. “A box of chocolate is enough … you can’t buy me what I want anyway,” he said smiling sarcastically and I just smile a little smile. Being a gym freak that I am my must do activity was to gym and finish my work so I can spend time with my little brother. After that many hours of planning what to do for next week’s calendar, photographer schedule, I came up for a power nap. Few calls that I could have answered but decided to just stay in my deep sleep mode, woke up late, missed the class. And there I was just deciding, okay to go or to stay, I went ahead anyway. I need that box of chocolate and I could do some running. I called my mom while walking into the car just like every other day, we plan the whole evening, my dad was taking his nap. It’s amazing how five minutes from that phone call, life can actually be full of the unexpected.Read more here ...

The Single Attack Part II

It's a Tuesday morning, you and the hot out of the store, baggett, take a stroll around this dynamic city of Bangkok with your iPod shuffling to the tune that you can't get enough of. For a moment you actually feels like the pollution smells like fresh air. Of course that only last for a second and I lied, you'd still feel the pollution.Point is, besides the fact that we have to breathe in all this pollution, drinks alcohol to socialize (and actually enjoys it). We wake up in the morning, hit the gym to sweat that toxic out physically yet at the end of some day, we still have to deal with the s(he)-who-shall-not-be-named.We all have that once in a while, you know, the person, the one person that manage to just say something so directly yet indirectly attacking your pride of being single. True that it's not an easy task being fabulously single in this so-called liberated city.If you ever get negative and start to wonder what's wrong with them or with you, just look at your fabulous shoes, bags, and most important of all, everything and everyone around you. They-who-shall-not-named, shall not matter.I recalled a blog I finger snapped with my attitude about the big tank with many fish inside. The fish still exists and if it makes you feel better then think of the fish as for me, I prefer to be on land where I belong.Few minutes after I encounter the only she-sometimes-is-devil, I shrug it off with the thought that I am living the life of the life and so are you.

You love house music and you're running out of tracks to listen to at work (just like I was), uplifting house music might be your next best friend it certainly is mine now.As a googler and a podcast-holic, I discovered DJ Nick Power who hosts Soul Kandi every Saturday. The best mix that has officially become the earworm for me is the Valentine's Day remix. Hey, I might not have another half but this remix makes me feel like I do have one!I love the track called, 'Butterflies.' I am patiently awaiting for the next Soul Kandi by Mr. Power himself. www.djnickpower.dj

Ekamai on Fire Again

Yes, I don't know if it's the road or it's the maintenance of the place but it's been almost three months since the Santika incident and a spot in Ekamai is on fire again. As we were deciding between Tuba or Sode Samo, we ended up in Shades of Retro. Parked our car and walked in to the bar and just like the movie scene, lights in the whole street went off. Definitely not good, not that I'm scared of the dark or anything but five minutes later, fifteen minutes later, and twenty minutes later, the lights are still out is kind of freaky.Luckily the table right next to mine was full with information so I found out that Nami restaurant or so they say, is on fire. If you feel like Nami is still far away from us, let me spot it for you, next to groove across the famed bar Tuba (which was one of the places we had in mind!).I didn't exactly see the fire but as I was driving home I notice that the whole road on the other side was blocked. I really hope that everyone is fine and no one is hurt. I guess soon enough all of us would hear something.Anxiously waiting.

When Nothing Turns into Something

Sabina, Lan Kwai Fong, after hours, one bottle of white wine, bath tub, was just a part of the plan that I followed on Sunday night in Hong Kong. My intention was to explore more of the city, while I was all hyped up by that cheap mini-bottle of wine from 7-11, one of my friends literally dropped dead on the bed while the other was in her glasses looking around, lying around, and eventually, spying around town with me.The thing is, me and Nimmy, we've been together for way too long, so many memories, old days and when we listen to music together we would start our sentence with "Do you remember when ..." There she waas, sitting by the window across me holding a remote, trying to change the song while her hand is shaking, I wonder if it was from the cold or from the fact that we felt like we're cheating on our dead in bed friend! Many never-going-to-post-on-my-blog events later, we winded up in a club called Traffic or Traffik (just incase that's the hip-hop way of saying it)."Okay, drinks on me, what do you want?" I asked.Nimmy, flip, flip, menu, oh wait I don't remember if there was a menu ... Was there?"I want Nothing please," she said to the bartender.I just stared at her like either she was tipsy or I was, I know I was! "Nothing?!"A couple of glasses of this so called "Nothing," cocktail later, we found ourselves singing to "I've got no daddy when I was growing up...""Wait," I said with a little almost out-of-the-hood snapping fingers"I have a daddy when I was growing up,""So did I!"So we don't really know why one of us said that and we are still wondering why I went back to the hotel rolling on the bed laughing non-stop. Trust me, our other friend totally partied with us after that long laugh of mine, I mean, it's a skill! Rolling, laughing, together, get it?Talk about NOTHING!

Chic and the City (HK Version)

If you know me really well then you would know that every year I always throw a big birthday party and I plan ahead of time. This year, HK was the plan, and we made it, through the immigration, the MTR station, slopes, and stairs, into LKF (Lan Kwai Fong). As much as I want to tell you every single details about my trip, where, when, who, and so on, somethings are meant to kept a secret. Ok, so on my first day of being 24 as I was hanging out with my friends on the way to Hong Kong, I realized how much I enjoy the pleasure of living the high life. While the mapper and banker turned into a map-lover, are directing the way, I was chillin' with my iPod looking around. Now that whole iPod and ear plug, getting lost and found thing, happened throughout the trip! I enjoyed the whole shot after shot after shot from a shishah spot in LKF, making my friends suffer from sun burn while I was waiting in line for a silly picture with the Snow White, or one of our friend keeping us waiting while she is going coo in Esprit, the beautiful rooftop bar that plays super old hip hop utunes like hmm I kinda forgot. What can I say? Before I fall asleep at night and wake up in the morning, I sit on the totally Chinese looking cushion, embracing the panorama of HK. It's almost like the window wasn't even there and we are just one arm length away from the sky. You know what they say, it's not the destination that matters but the journey and honestly this journey is one hell of a memory not because of Drop Club or Dragon-i, or even the Peak. I fabulously turned fabulous twenty-four in the city of colors because of my girls. Note to the Mapper and Banker:I know I am quite annoying a.k.a Miss Preset Mode, Miss Sleep and Moan, and Miss I-can't-go-anymore-I-am-so-sick but the sweetest thing we so love each other. Let's laugh and roll (on the bed or not).

Let Go

One of my goals in life is to let go. Let go of things that I don't need, clear up that mess on my desk, let go of the fact that sometimes I don't have to be perfect, and neither are some of the relationships.I believe that letting go does not only includes the act of doing nothing but the act of forgiveness and forgetting about it. Trust me, it is much easier when you are loosing something you don't really care about, but when it is something that you care about, it tends to get complicated.Once you are at that point where you wake up and you say to yourself, "OK, that's it." Stick to it. Often times, I always feel like forgive and forget is when we have to go back and put ourselves back in some sort of relationship in order to express the 'I'm cool with you.'And maybe I don't want to do that, maybe I just want to let it all go and do nothing. Actually, the past week, that's what I have been doing, freeing myself. Sometimes somethings are just meant to be the way they are, not to fix, not be change, not to be with you or vice versa. The most important thing is to realize that even if you let go of that favorite shirt you bought yet you never wear them but you enjoy looking at them ... is that you have a closet full of other stuff that is useful.
Bacardi Culture Two

I know it might sound dramatic but some of us here in Bangkok have been waiting a year for B-Live Culture One to come back. From last year's experience, we know for a fact that wearing almost comfortable shoes that are aww very cute equals blisters and more of it. If anyone expected to us all dressed up, they are probably looking at the wrong crew.We began at Tuba 5pm (still hungover from the night before) with a glass of super strong Long Island. Followed by a really loud car ride screaming at what looks like a moon (only it turned out to be a balloon).DJ line-up? We are totally clueless, so clueless that early night we started at Dudesweet, who would have thought that we would dance like it's House music in that arena! Oh well, it happened. The surprising thing is Titan, supposedly the trance arena is pretty quiet for a night full of trance wooers. Oh well, I was always an Amnesia kind of girl and that didn't disappoint me.In fact, I would probably have to quote a line from a friend who once describe this guy's moves, "dancing like a maniac!" - I am guilty! Maniac was me.So yes, the same reason as last year, I love the fact that you can just wear flip-flop, messy hair, no make-up, and shake it like no one is around and even if they are, well I am pretty sure they have loosen up their hair too. Just one note, we hope it would literally be outdoor the next round! Technorati Tags: bangkok, bacardi, culture one, party, outdoor

For those of you who have known me for a while would probably know that I can get pretty geeky at times it's freaky! One of my hobbies back in the days was to tweak my Firefox with all these add-ons and downloading freeware that cleans my computer while measuring the heat of the fan. Yesterday morning as I was looking for something in my bookmark, Firefox Add-ons totally seduced me, I couldn't help but to get distracted. Get this straight, I am blogging right from my surfing window without even signing into my web manager, tell me that's not cool! So bloggers, get yourself Scribe Fire, anything less than convenient is completely underrated. Besides being a big time blogger, music is always with me and if I could, I would love to have tunes that would play at all times wherever I go and if possible maybe the track can fit the situation too? Now that would just shine my shining life. I installed Fire.FM add-on for my Firefox, all I have to say is beware, it's addictive. I entered Miguel Migs or Justin Timberlake and all these similar artists from similar genre would randomly play. Oh how I love the Fox. Rock on!

It was a warm sunny Sunday in 2003 when my dad decided to take me and my brother out to check out new cars. So there I was just driving around Vios and City while my dad asked me which one I think is better for him to drive, which color he should get, and why I think is better. Just a little after my 18th birthday, my dad once again asked me to go for a random drive, only this time he actually took me to see my new car. My dad is not a man of words; he hardly talks in fact unless he has questions or needs to say something. “Ok, here’s the key, it’s yours. Drive after me, we’ll go change the rims,” was my dad’s pretty much exact words. There I was at 18, with my baby, a Honda City, in color of my choice. True, it’s not a BMW or a Mercedes but it’s a gift from my dad to me and I felt like that was a moment I can’t explain. My baby and I share a lot of memories together, I have dolls, shoes, clothes, friends that I love, people that are random, friends turned frienemy, all of them in this ride right here. I never even thought about getting a new ride or at least not with anyone’s help, I plan for my own. My baby has been acting weird, very weird, and maybe I haven’t taken the best care of her but it shouldn’t be this bad. I found out yesterday that I have to not overhaul the gear among other things and the price happens to be oh-so-high that my dad thinks we might as well buy a new one. I know it is quite dramatic for me to get a little emotional and attach to a car but oh well, I guess that’s what happens when it’s your first. Hopefully, she will be fixed somehow, I know she’s getting older but she’s a diva in my heart.

Simply Sleepless

After weeks of no good events to attend, I decided to pop by at BED for DJ D.O.N.S and Terri B. on Friday night. I mean it’s been a while since I have been to clubs and actually hear good music, good crowd, everyone dancing, all at once but that night was simply one of the best nights. Having to wake up at 6am for my graduation the next day was not so great though. I spend my whole night having trouble sleeping getting nervous for no apparent reason, next thing I know I was chillin’ at Jet Ekamai on Saturday night. Yes, I am officially outdated for going there after forever but okay, I admit, it definitely is one of the clubs I would come back to. My advice is if you plan to rock all night with the Thai live band then reservation is needed but if you are an Electro/House person like me then you’re safe as the other side of Jet has room for you. It’s a Monday today, back to reality, back to work, except today is a merry Monday for us since our awesome boss came to visit us from Hong Kong and will be here for a week. Honestly, I think all of us in the office was just full of positive energy after all, no one sings “Don’t Worry Be Happy,” and can actually make you feel the song like our boss does. On top of all that sleepless nights and ummm… a lot of Greygoose, I started my week like a brand new person. Quite interesting that it so happen, that today the moon eclipse happened, I for one didn’t really believe in the myth of hold as much money as you can when it’s happening. But just because I didn’t believe it doesn’t mean I don’t like the fact that others do, I appreciate that, at least they have some strong faith about something! Now all I am doing is counting down the days, 11 days to my HK trip, 10 days to my birthday, 6 days to B-Live, Culture One party, and another countless days of happiness and more of it.

Sabina, The Graduate

I know I finished college since May last year but it never really hit you until you are actually waking up at 6 a.m. not knowing exactly how to wear the gown and getting all nervous about what to do, where to stand, I mean it's all new, well to me at least. Driving out of the house was already a surprise, I have never seen that much fog covering the street of Bangkok like today before. By 10 a.m. I was on a trial of putting on the gown with no clues but thanks to my photographer, he happens to be my life savior. Pose after pose I just asked my photographer, "Really? Is this all I have to do? I think I have enough pictures already." Yes, as freak as I am about the flash, the nervous feeling was overwhelming and all I was thinking about is my family and friends. My dad bought me a huge monkey, which is very sweet considering the fact that I am turning twenty four and my mom is a classic, white roses all the way. Hugs after hugs and flash after flash while my little brother continues to annoy me. They left me with my friends. One by one my friends started showing up and then I was less nervous and more happy. My favorite P' So bought me a bulldog and a license plate that says "Graduate of 2009," which is really cool, I am in love with it. N and J, the two duo came with a package of flowers and mini-Sabina bear while C and D gave me a graduate sash. Honestly, most of my friends came with something and I didn't even want anything, the fact that they were there was really touching. I know that some of my friends really couldn't make it. I suppose the point that really hit me that I am a graduate, no more college, no more freaking out about Statistics and skipping class or finding parking spot was when I was sitting at my favorite bench with everyone around me. The wind blowing and all of us were just chatting playing with the dolls or standing embracing the wind. That bench was the only bench in the entire campus that is shaded, away from the sun, quiet, a place I used to talk on the phone with my someone (many of them). It's the place where I would have a quick read before I head up to my exam room and the place I actually once cried at when one of my ex was leaving to another country. I looked around and I realized, all the people that matters to me were there, even the ones I didn't expect to show actually turned up just for me. Although my college life maybe over, four years of happiness, sadness, fun, and much more, my life is still going on. I know that in time I will realize where my next favorite bench is at, maybe it's already there right in front of me. Where ever it maybe, I know that sitting on the bench with friends who cares about you makes that silent moment the most precious one.

In BED Sheets Magazine for March Issue

Last year I mention that I got an e-mail that kind of awaken the other side of me other than writing. I absolutely do not believe that one can 'jinx' something but well, I did want to keep it down low. Now that everything is settled and on the roll, it's about time I come out of my own closet. I was offered to be an official PR for an event which will be hosted one Thursday every month. The 'Beat It at Blue Palace,' is a night dedicated to the Indians community in Bangkok. I am aware that it is quite contradictory considering the fact that I was never really a big fan of Bollywood night. After talking with Dean, the entertainment director, we have decided that the night will be full of surprises time after time and of course, international. For the first event which will be hosted on Thursday February 19th, we will be highlighting the fashion show. It was actually my first thought when I went to see the BED crew is to have a fashion show. I invited Phavini Kalra to be one of the designers, I am simply in love with her designs and personality. Along side we also have Annu Siri and Binny. As for the other details I would guess that you are going to have to wait and see. Yesterday, Bee Futon, editor of BED Sheets Magazine invited me for an interview about how I got started with writing and my background along with my blog on Lifestyle and how I landed this job to be featured on the BIO page of March/April issue. It was one fun session we had, it felt like I was just talking with a really close friend, reminiscing about my life.

Sao Sode (Single Lady)

Sode Samo or the Singles Association is a house turned into a bar located on the bustling road of Ekamai. It has been open for more than a year now, in fact, Sode Samo is the first bar review that I have done in my life. Last night my friend came to pick me up not knowing where we are heading to, until one small ride later, we decided to pop by at Sode Samo. It was only a little after ten and already happening, of course in order to keep up with that much hype we need some booster. Shots of Sambuca, one after another consecutively, next thing I know I was finally dancing again after the long pause from last year. I decided to complete my relationship status by ordering Single Lady drink, fine the taste is no where near being fabulous but I was! See, after partying at the usual place in the hot spot, I kind of forgot what it was like to party down to earth style where you can just dance like no one is watching. I almost forgot that when you are down in Ekamai road, men would usually come from across the room just to cheer the glass with you, now if only my usual clubs are like that. The thing is, the Single Association might have just awaken my inner party princess, guess who is back in action.

To Nimmy, the Mapper

Let me introduce myself, first of all, in this trip you can say that I am the dealer. From e-mailing about 20 hotels in Hong Kong I finally manage to make a deal. On top of that, I also e-mail clubs. Yes, dealer indeed. But a dealer won’t be anything without So the casher, yes, she calculates always making sure that we are actually going to pay for things at certain amount and basically we are keeping our dollars with her. This whole trip would probably be a flop without Nimmy, the mapper. Honestly I have never ever seen a chick who can reads map, in fact, prints map and start circling each train station for fun. “Can you see the Citygate Outlet? It’s around this line,” mapper said to me and I looked at the map for about 4 times until I manage to find it. Our itinerary is finally done with pure help from Nimmy the mapper. I can’t wait for our next trip because she is going to have so many headaches yet so much fun hanging out with me. We know that we are going to be dead from this trip, it’s amazing how much we can squeeze in! Nimmy, we love you, we already feel like we are in HK now.Saturday 21:00 - Arrive at hotel, take 1 hr to unpack, use the bathroom, & get dressed 22:00 – Take the ferry from Central to Aqua @ Tsim Sha Tsui, sit and chill for a bit24:00 (or later) – off to Drop & Volar clubs (or pick one) Sunday (Breakfast at hotel)11:00 – off to Victoria Peak by Peak tram14:00 – off to Causeway Bay, also visit the Tin Hau Temple in Causeway Bay16:30 – off to Tsim Sha Tsui (walk around, see the old Clock Tower, Avenue of Stars) 20:00 – Symphony of Lights show at Tsim Sha Tsui 20:30 – off to Ladies Street in Mongkok and to Sephora and H&MMonday (Breakfast at hotel)10:00 – check out of Hotel Jen10:30 – check into LKF Hotel11:00 – leave for Disney land (closes at 7 pm)19:30 – off to Citygate Outlets (it closes at 10 pm) 22:00 – head back to hotel to get dressed 23:00 – cruise the Lan Kwai Fong neighbourhood, if there’s any interesting place, hang out there for a bit 24:00 – head over to Dragon-I club Tuesday (Breakfast at hotel)12:00 (or earlier if possible) – check out of the hotel (leave our bags there) & off to walk around in Central & SoHo area. We will get to see the world’s longest covered escalator, also visit the Man Mo temple in Hollywood Road, and take photos at the Statue Square, as well as Edinburgh Place & Cenotaph. 18:20 – come back to hotel & get our stuff, aim to reach airport at around 19:20 (our flight is at 20:45)

For my 24th birthday which is coming up real soon, me and two of my girlfriends decided to make a 4 day 3 nights trip to shopper's paradise, Hong Kong. With so many events going on we have change our flight from one to another to another and moving our days but after all that, we finally bought ticket which is non-refundable! Although, I just found out today that on the day that I am actually leaving, it's my graduation day, YES, apparently it has been push forward. I will still go on with the plan and consider my graduation as of the rehearsal day which is on January 24th. Now back to our HK trip, we plan for Ngong Ping, The Peak, Disney Land, the whole deal, so we separated our duties. I'll be taking care of the nightlife and shopping part, making sure we get free rooms and entry to clubs (totally ME!). N actually reads MAP and she was talking about one station to another and I was just like "Uh, what?" So she's planning the whole intineraries for our trip. S on the other hand is really good with money and possibly the wisest out of all, so she will be making sure we get our food and get home safe and sound. So this is going to be one exciting trip of many more that's on the way. Yes it probably is the best birthday gift I have ever gotten. As for my actual birthday, it's Long Table with the girls all the way :)

X Bar PR

As a writer and a PR, it's my usual routine to set up meeting with new bars and restaurants. Honestly, some of these PRs are super nice that makes me wonder the kind of PR that I am! On the contrary, there are some that can totally get on your nerves. Last Tuesday I decided to call call this bar and had a chance to talk with Mr. D. We quickly set up a meeting for X day at X time so I cleared my schedule, got all ready to meet at this X place. "Sabina, I actually forgot to tell you that today is actually not a good day since I am not the best person to talk to when it comes to this X place," explain Mr. D. Of course, I looked confused, I mean seriously, why would anyone set up a meeting with someone if they are not the best person! First of all, being a PR means you better know about X bar that you are working at. I insisted that it's not much to ask anyway just basic things but Mr. D who forgot to call and cancel the appointment insist that I come in the next day. "So can we set a meeting tomorrow with Mr. E, at 5pm?" There I was thinking it's a Friday, lots of work, wondering what to do. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it but at least I made the decency to call and try to reschedule but the response I got was ..."Sabina, how can you do this? We already set up a meeting," complains Mr. D. Oh well ... PRs ... did I mention when he was talking to the British chef he actually literally change his voice and make it more macho, he did. Reschedule, I think not.

Goodbye Santika

Most of you are still probably in shock over the incident that happened on New Year’s Eve at Santika, one of the famed clubs that is now just a history. I drove pass Santika the other day and it was literally burned down, people were still all over the place and I couldn’t help to think about the lives lost there. They are someone’s friend, family, lovers, husband, father, someone’s son, it’s truly a tragic. I read a blog from Mike who was in the accident and witnessed the whole thing himself who thought that the fire was a special effect but then realized that it’s not. “From the time we witnessed the first flame until we were outside was only 30 seconds yet when I circled back I was seeing people passing out as they were being helped out the front,” he said.To think, Santika is actually so close to me, I was just there for the Sean Kingston party during Songkran and went to Coloc for Jean Claude Van Damme appearance. Santika is as packed as it can get on a normal event day and for New Year's? I don't even want to start thinking about it!On Santika’s official website, if you look through the forum, you’d probably notice how many people have been posting threads; one that strikes me was about how it might be a set up judging from the name of the event, the poster, the fire logo on the site. Set up or not, it’s already happened, I really hope that the clubs in Bangkok would have more safety, I mean seriously sprinklers and fire extinguishers wouldn’t kill the cool look of the club. Now this is a bit of wake up call for me, considering the fact that I party, living life like there's no tomorrow. It's about time that I actually tell people I care about that I care about them and not being afraid to love the world, after all you never know what's going to happen. Rest in peace. Read Mike's experience here.

Wrapping Up 2008

December 2007, I decided that 2008 was definitely my year and it was. It started with the smallest thing like planning and actually making the surprise graduation party happen for my best friend in January followed by celebrating my truly magnetizing 23rd birthday with friends who matters to me. And for the first time in my life I played Songkran, yes after years of refusing to get wet, I decided to be wild! Then I met this friend of mine who claims to be “just another guy,” but is far beyond being just another guy. I actually passed my Statistics exam this year; I mean honestly, I wouldn’t have thought that would happen! I am finally a graduate and miraculously got a job at Lifestyle Asia where I met my old college friend and now we’re working together! Did I mention that my boss is one amazing person? Well he is and we are lucky to have him! After all of that, I thought my year was pretty damn spectacular but it got even better when I met Akon in real for an up close and personal interview. While working in Lifestyle Asia, I had a chance to meet this one kind hearted lady who is not only an office neighbor but a sister, a friend, and more! Moving on in 2008, three times of Hed Kandi passed by, my friends and I threw a little cupcake birthday for one of my most favorite chicks in the world and it was one night I’ll never forget, especially with her around it seems like my life is always on track! On top of it all, I adopted a new hobby of rock climbing after a night full of work and a busy day, talk about being productive! So yes, 2008 is definitely my year and I decided that 2009 is going to be a year full of progress in my life, one more spectacular year ahead and a year after that and a year after that and it goes on. I am blessed to have all of these spectacular events around me along side with people who care about me, friends and family. The simple trick to having it all is pretty simple, be happy and everything around you will just dance around with you.

Every year I come up with the New Year’s resolution, it’s like a thing, a tradition, hype, whatever you call it. For this year it included loving me more, doing Yoga regularly, and all that stuff you can probably think of. The hype however has totally disappeared for 2009, my resolution is to not make any resolution but to live my life like there’s no tomorrow and continue what I am doing now but better. I agree it does feel good to tick that list off, which by the way I just did, complete them all! Everyday is a new day and it’s my new thing to do better each day, after all, it keeps getting better and better! I have a feeling that 2009 is going to be my year and the year after and the year after and it goes on.

December is the month of love and I can totally feel it today. ' Maybe it†s the fact that I met some really awesome people who are really inspiring and positive or maybe it†s the fact that I ran into this four year old kid who randomly just talks to me about his life. ' ' ‽You see that glass there? I just want to jump up and lay there, it†s so relaxing,” he talks about the roof top. He was just so passionate about the glass, it†s impressive, and there he was climbing up the stairs trying to reach the glass. ' It†s quite lifted to have a good conversation with kids, makes me feel like I can just dream on about what I want. Whether it†s that car I really want, that life I†m living and wanting more, you name it. ' If you†re losing hopes and dreams, just about to give up, well don†t, not yet anyway. Just look around your life and find something that you are really passionate about I†m sure that it†s right in front of you if you just open your heart.

Dear Santa

It was a Tuesday evening when my friend and I had our usual chill out session and she breaks to me, “Do you know that it’s breaking news that Santa uses nanotechnology to travel?” I was thinking to myself, “Wow, so what, Santa exist now?” And then it occurs to me that I haven’t thought about Santa Claus in that many years! Probably ever since I found out that every year my parents just put something in front of my door step when I’m asleep and its way pass my age to get that. So maybe Santa exists or maybe he doesn’t but I realized that the best Santa Claus are around me all the time, all year round, and they are my friends and family. After all, it is them who have the naughty and nice radar, detecting my behavior and keeping me on track. I couldn’t ask for more this Christmas, it’s a blessing to have them.

Charity Sunday

I have to give credit to some of the students from ABAC who decided to organize a charity trip to Mercy Center Foundation because if they didn't push it or in fact called me about it, I wouldn't have realized that it's about time I do some charity work. Mercy Center Foundation is known for its education facility for kids age from 3-15 years old who are with HIV positive. The purpose of this charity trip is donate some of things that we no longer need, after all, what we don't need might be exactly what others needs most. As I opened my closet, I realized how many things I have to give away from one sweater after another to t-shirts and more then we went to my brother's closet which is probably the perfect place since he is 8 years old. Just picking the stuff out and going to the supermarket to get some dry food feels good already but of course it felt even better when we actually get there and donate it. With so much parties, work, and back to parties, I can understand why some of us are without time to do these little things. On the contrary, I also believe that we can make time and charity might just be the way to end the year perfectly.

We love them for their music, oh-so-very-strong drinks, and trust us; it is really strong that soothes our mind. It’s been nine long years that Q Bar has been entertaining Sukhumvit Soi 11 goers. We definitely grew up with Q around us not to mention them bringing down big DJs and vocalist including David Dunne, Barbara Tucker, among many others.Last night, Q Bar celebrated its ninth birthday surrounded by the Q lovers; of course, we were there to witness it! The USB Flash Drive with photos and music inside surely satisfy our minds, especially my geeky one! Now that’s one of the coolest ideas, thumbs up for the thumb drive. We wish Q Bar a very happy birthday and many long years ahead of us. Missed out from last night’s party? Check out our gallery.

To The Single, Be Fabulous

It is December, the winter season, the season of love, if you are single, trust me be in love with it. You are way too fabulous to settle for anything less than perfect. True, there’s no such thing as ‘perfect,’ but like one of my friend says, “There’s only one way you can make a Macchiato yet none of them taste the same, if it’s ‘your’ Macchiato, then it’s yours.” Simple equation, how does that Macchiato taste to you right now, is it a little too bitter, too sweet, way too not tasty. There are about 100 coffee shops around town with various type of drinks, coffee for your soul, tea for your mind, juice for your body, explore them, better yet explore yourself. I know what my next step is in my single and fabulous life, a book. While tasting my so called favorite tea, I was enlightened to write this book, I even came up with a title, concept, and design! What’s your next step in the adventurous single life?

Crepes & Co. Thonglor

The goold old Crepes & Co. just opened its new branch on November 28th, 2008 at the Eight building on Thonglor Soi 8 but because the sign is so tiny, I didn't even know it was in the building! So there we were driving in to Soi 8 and reversing in and out a couple of time before I decide to actually call and ask where the place is. New Crepes & Co. is decorated nothing like the one in Sukhumvit Soi 12, it's more modern, urban, and minimal, with a patio outside. I have a feeling that it's going to be the up and coming spot in the bustling road of Thonglor, however, it's not my preference to chill out with my girls. The service is as good as Crepes & Co. Sukhumvit Soi 12, I give them thumbs up for that. For those of you who haven't visited Crepes & Co. Thonglor 8 yet, check it out for yourself and share your experience with me.

Talk About Balance

Yesterday I decided to try ‘Yoga Balance,’ for the first time, it’s definitely far beyond being hardcore unlike other classes that I take! The focus is not on the body but on the mind now that’s the tricky part, considering the fact that I am a dancing tree when it comes to balancing normal poses. My mind is quite cluttered lately, balancing is needed to clear my mind! Let’s face it, it’s not easy to keep staring into the mirror and stay still when you’re thinking about a thousand things. But after a while you just get used to balancing and you don’t feel like you’re actually balancing! Finally, I came into the this posture that I have tried over and over in the past year and I couldn’t do it until yesterday! It might look easy like a piece of cake but then again, each of us are with a different types of body. Honestly, after Yoga Balance, I feel refresh as if I have just restarted my own body.

In The Moon

I’m pretty sure all of you have received a message or two about the ‘Smiling Moon,’ ten days or so ago. Yes, the moon was in a weird quirky smiley shape a long side with two bright stars. It seems to me like lately there’s something in the moon! Yesterday the moon came closet to earth in the past 15 years, although it was 356,567 kilometers away, I can literally feel it was this close that I can just drive to it! So it’s the smiley moon and the as close as it can get moon, together comes the famed full moon party except this time it’s in the sleepless city of Bangkok on top of Siam@Siam, the vivid posh hotel. DJ Seed and MC Amy was rockin’ the deck of ‘The Roof,’ bar, the crowd appeared in werewolf outfit with cute little cat ears to tiger ears to butterfly-like eye lashes. It was kind of nice to see people dancing on the roof top, literally in their fancy outfit! As I mention in my previous blog, The Roof is with another view of Bangkok and partying on top of it certainly gives me the feel of Hong Kong nightlife or so it seemed!

Looking back three years ago I can see that I was really living my life on the edge, I would do anything and everything. Of course, I still do live my life like there’s no tomorrow, just in a distinctive way. If you are in your thirties or about to hit thirty then embrace it, it is the golden age at least in my mind. I am still wondering what I want in life while people in that age are probably with crystal clear eye of what life is about and what they want out of it. Dream a more realistic dream is probably one thing I learn from one wise thirty year old and I am trying to implement it.

It's my new routine to chill with a glass of English Breakfast in the morning at Au Bon Pain Sukhumvit 24 before going to work. As I was embracing the breeze of December and doing my usual people watch for fun. I randomly notice this Japanese lady feeding the Au Bon Pain's dog a.k.a dog that usually hang in Au Bon Pain.If you are a big fan of ABP in Soi 24 then you would probably notice a white dog sleeping around, well don't think that this is just a Soi dog because this dog is actually 'kind of' adopted by the Japanese lady. The white dog's name is 'Shiro,' and she sleeps in the Pet Shop at Soi 24, get to walk three times a day with this kind lady. She has already adopted two dogs from Au bon Pain to stay at her place and has been feeding Shiro for the past six years. I wish there are more people like her! Shiro was really cute as her owner was about to walk her out she just ran to sleep right under my chair, oh well, I guess she wants her story to be heard.

Fighting with the Rocks

On Saturday me and my friends went rock climbing, as easy as it sounds, the process was far beyond being easy but not impossible. The good old racquet club offers rock climbing lessons, so there I was already to climb only I was hitting myself around the rocks! In my twenty three years of life, I thought I knew what it means to have a sore body but I guess I never knew until I climbed up those rocks. I was the only one who took forever to reach the top but then I realized a lot while climbing. Never give up is the key that works. Just like life I suppose, you never give up! It's a good lesson and the one I am definitely going back to, maybe tomorrow! I really admire my friends, they didn't give up and they were really strong, seriously, it freaks me out to see how fast they climbed up! New to rock climbing?

Yesterday I had an opportunity to pop by at The Roof, a.k.a Skydine Design on 25 in Siam@Siam. Besides the fact that the upside down roses in the elevator kind of remind me of funerals even though the whole point was 'love in the air,' or at least it's my best guess, I was still freaked out. The view, wind, combined with their quite creative cocktails (007 and French Connection) are simply breath taking. I was dosing on April in Paris, all I know is there's champagne in it and two glasses later I kind of found myself having a little buzz. Honestly, this is officially my new favorite drink here! Walking up one more floor we find the dance floor on the roof top, now how cool is that? You can finally dance under the moonlight, literally! Especially with the DJ spinning old school house tracks, that's what I am looking for when I am partying high. Long story short, The Roof is my next pitstop when I have nothing to do in Sukhumvit.

Be You

"I realized that with or without girls, all you need to do is just be happy," said one of my friends after a long gap of updating each other. It's surprising how a person can change, from a guy I once knew, he was shy, in love with this girl who doesn't deserve him, and the cliche story goes on. To see that person turned into this positive, career focused, happy, vibrant person, is a great feeling. We started talking about life, love, life, and love, of course, work, you can't really escape these three topics can you? We have to come the conclusion that the best thing to do in life is to just be yourself and I couldn't agree more. Although I may say, "I am being myself," there are times I know I am losing track of being myself and the most important part is recognize that and get right back on track of being yourself. Trust us, it's a great feeling when you are just you and you are doing what you feel happy about. The only person you have to love is yourself, along side with the ones who cares about you, and oh lose that excess backage, after all they only bring you down!

It's been almost two weeks since Lifestyle BK sent out an invitation to our members to participate in our little game, 'Why do you want to go to Kylie Minogue concert?'In deed we have gotten tons of responses from our readers from "I want to see her booty," to a student that can't afford to buy the tickets, to a girl who's heart has recently been broken and finds Kylie as her true inspiration. It's not an easy task for Lifesyle BK team to pick the winners! But we have a few on our minds and tomorrow will be the judgment day. All I have to say is look forward to the newsletter and our personal e-mails as we will be announcing the four lucky winners! On the other side, I am going through my closet looking for the totally Kylie style dress to wear for her concert this Sunday!

"You have been departed to the Chivas Music Terminal, the Private Island," is the line you would hear if you were in the elevator at Le Fenix being escorted by your very own hostess who cordially leads you to the rooftop bar, Nest. Chivas came back this time to zouk the Bangkokians out and they certainly did, transforming the chill-out Nest that we know off to a dance floor and a heaven for trance music lovers. We love the idea of writings under the water, fish tank, chalk board, we need not say more. With tracks like "Big Sky," from Armin Van Buuren to the everlasting tracks like, "Show Me Love," it doesn't surprise me that people were dancing like there's no tomorrow. I know I did have one of the I sweat all night nights, yet again! What can I say? I was zouked out! What I love most was the icey cold mist that was blasted out to the dance floor, definitely gave me the chill up to my spine!

Are you thirty, single, and loving it? If you are then stay that way and far away from the freaky fortune teller is what I say after watching, 'The Ex List.' Remember, 'Eva,' the I-am-really-pregnant chick from Grey's Anatomy, she is back this time as the main star for the fresh series, 'The Ex List,' where she will be hunting down for her Mr. Right from the past. I watched the first episode and I must say it is quite interesting, especially when it comes down to writing the names of all your exes, tracking them down, for another chance. I honestly wonder who she will end up with! Makes me feel like writing down all the names of my exes, only if I know the description of exes, is the guy I went for a movie with, hung out with twice, talked with for three months?

From Q Bar to BED Supperclub, to the newly born Diva Club and the recently celebrated Twisted Republic, there's no doubt that Sukhumvit Soi 11 is what we can call one of the 'it,' streets in Bangkok. With numerous restaurants, hotels, rooftop bar, hint hint, the Nest we love so much! All of them will be gathered together on the Tuesday 11th, November to celebrate and launch, 'Soi 11 Association,' at BED SupperclubIf you are the one that's going to be there then expect to see the owners, managers, PR, regular customers of probably all the places in that Soi combined together in one place, sharing the same goal, the same vision, and you can be their witness. What can I say, when I heard that there is going to be the Soi 11 Association, I am thrilled! I am the Soi 11 and yes, indeed it is the heart of Bangkok!
The Sky is Red

Finally after hearing so much about the new upscale rooftop bar, 'Red Sky,' I did my own rooftop hop to the talked-about bar on Saturday. I must say, it is simply awesome, the food however, may not be for me since I am a vegetarian! Would I want to go back there again? Definitely, for drinks that is, and next time I am going to make sure I sit at the bar! The colors of the bar rotates from red to green to my favorite, purple, creating this not-in-Bangkok atmosphere. All I know is, by 7pm the place was packed with people crawling at the bar, mingling, chatting their evening away. I mean hey, I might actually come back home with a new friend or meet some of my old friends! I got there at 5.30pm just chillin' out with my friends and a glass of refreshing pineapple juice just looking over at the sky as the sunsets, and I came back without any mosquito bites or embarrassing moments of, 'My skirt blew away like Marilyn Monroe!' The place is with this pretty cool wind protection where you get enough breeze through out the night and the view of the city is definitely different. It's almost like you can look down at each building and see what's there, quite cool to actually. All in all, pricey but worth the view! Especially if you are looking for something intimate, chilled-out, and not too in-the-city also known as Sukhumvit area. It's time we go beyond that anyway.

And it's the Halloween Hours!

Once again it's that time of the year, the time where people actually get dressed as their dream or even their nightmare's character! From the Mummy to Marilyn Monroe to Jack Sparrow, whatever you are looking for, you'd find it in the streets of Bangkok. As always, my costumes are never scary, in fact not even near the essence of Halloween! French maid is the costume of 2008 for me and I simply can't wait to buy a mini duster to go a along with it or at the very least a broom! Yes, my dress looks exactly like that from Cherry Candy! :)If you're looking to buy costumes I would suggest you drop by at Platinum (B/F Cherry Candy, www.cherry-candy.com) the costumes are amazing and if you do your magic flirting they would actually let you try on the dress which was exactly what I did. If you're a guy worry not, they do have some awesome props from the masks to the traditional devil's horn or caine (which you don't have to pay THB480 for!) As for the parties, we all know the two S is always happening every year! From Sukhumvit Soi 11 including Q Bar, BED, and Twisted Republic, to Park Bridge, my first pick in the awakening area of Silom. So what is it that you are going to be this Halloween!? Don't forget to scream!

DJ Aqeel in Bangkok

Groove Room was the perfect location for DJ Aqeel to appear, especially for a person who doesn't know much about Indian, Bollywood music, popping by at a different location for a change was the good start of the night for me. So of course before going I did some research, heard his songs, and then I realized, 'Ok, maybe I don't understand the words but the beats are familiar!' And there I was on a rainy Saturday evening, in side groove room, without even one drink dancing to songs like, 'Lady, Hear Me Tonight,' to 'Rise Up,' to '4 Minutes,' the remix version, all played by the opening DJ of Aqeel. When the man himself stepped up, the crowd, hint hint, the ladies were all gathered on the dance floor, all the other rooms that seems to be full, were just quiet! If you were up on the second floor of Groove looking down, I promise you, all you'd see would be people dancing their night away. I wish I know the name of the songs that Aqeel played, but I don't, however, I do remember that he jumped down from the DJ booth into the middle of the crowds and started dancing, now that's what I would call, 'getting the party started and keeping it moving!' All in all, it was definitely not one of those Indian nights where you'd find yourself hanging outside, getting bored out of your head, because the place was definitely a mixed of 'farangs' to Thais and of course the Indians ourselves. Like K. Surin said to me on our small chit chat, he strives to bring the Indian night to a different level and he wants to make sure that people in Bangkok experience something more than the ordinary. And yes, I had fun, not a surprised after all that dance with only one glass of red wine :D DJ Aqeel, hmmm, quite a hottie too!

"We’ve got to trust in one-another All lovers should first be friends Friends have a faithfull trust in each-other Love without trust can’t win.."Finally, I found the perfect song that just describes my version of what love is like. Free like a bird, faithful like friends, and simply fabulous. Frances Nero sings a song called, 'Footsteps,' here are some of the things from the song that you might find oh-so-true."I don’t want footsteps following me… Unlike the prison ,set love free. I’m trully allergic to jealousy I don’t want footsteps following me"And yes, I do believe that love is about setting each other free, trusting in one another, just like friends do! If you love the lyrics, then here is the song. For full lyrics click here. Now that just makes me smile!

La la la la la la la la, I just can't get her out of my head! Yes, I am officially going crazy when I knew that Kylie Minogue is stepping her gorgeous body, voice, vibes, the whole package in Bangkok. Bangkok and Kylie Minogue are meant to be as one at least for Sabina! Now this is the concert that I can say I am waiting for besides Mariah Carey among many other artists. I can still remember when I was young singing to songs like, 'I should be so lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky in loveee!' I mean come one, I practically had the same hair she did way back then! It's almost like she's there at every stage of my life from that to 'Especially for you,' I am an 80's chick, there's no doubt that song is one of my parents as well as my favorites! And there was the 'IT' song that I can't really get out of my head, 'Can't get you out of my head,' was the track I listen to with my ex-boyfriend! To the song, 'Love at First Sight,' that I actually dedicated to my so called, 'gig' a.k.a we're not together but we are together. All of you probably get it, I am a big fan, huge fan, I have CDs in my closet and they are bought with my own pocket money way back in the days! Here is one of the songs that I simply love, love, love, it's really hard to pick one isn't it but let's just say that this is the song of the day :) Get ready for November 23rd Divas!

The Asian Hip Hop Festival

One of the biggest hip hop of the year arrived and all I can say is, it was blinged out. It's the first time after years since I have been to Impact Arena, just the driving part already excites me, but getting there was but reaching there was even better. The spacious arena was full with true lovers of hip-hop, all dressed up with what I might as well call, 'team' shirt. I remember running into this crew of men and women wearing sleek black t-shirt that screened, 'South Side,' in vibrant yellow. Of course usual Sabina, I can't resist not taking at least one picture of them and with them!Spotted around the arena are the 'RUN BKK' crew a.k.a Bangkok Invaders signature tee worn by the loyal fans, honestly, I can't wait to get one myself! Let's not forget the 40 meters wide of artistic graffiti decorated for the people to admire and capture their moment of the Asian Hip-Hop Festival. Okay, no more bragging, all of you are probably wondering what's the music like, let's start with my most memorable artists beginning with "Duit, Duit," by Joe Flizzow, in which by the way, I just found out that duit actually means money. And I got to tell you, he is cute, amazingly cute, shallow I know but oh well I am a girl! Going on with the Tom Yum Samurai another group with the help of Thaitanium Ent. singing a dedicated song to Terry the Aki a long with Thaitanium, Big Calo, and many more artists on stage. The slide show of Terry the Aki was playing right behind me and everyone was putting their lighters up in the sky, in loving memory of Terry, although I might know he was, I know who he is now, and he is loved by all of us .. Those slide show gave me goosebumps! Thaitanium did their magic along with Bangkok Invaders (DJ Buddah and DJ Ono) as well as Big Calo, I remember seeing an 8 year-old, note that an 8 year-old dancing like she is out of the Missy Elliot video, damn 'Nong Dim,' was outshining all the models dancing around her with her booty shaking! I couldn't resist but to ask her, "Nong, why are you so good at dancing?!" She smiles shyly and said, "I don't know too!" Now that was definitely the highlight of my night, seeing young kids there dancing their night away, who says the hip-hop festival is only for us! Yes, you are probably waiting for the best part, the Nas part, unfortunately due to my standing up straight of 7 hours, I couldn't wait for him to come up! So yes, I missed out, totally and the word is he was amazing and I am not surprised, the after party was no doubt happening too! All in all, I like the fact that there is an Asian Hip Hop Festival in Bangkok, not only does it promotes up and coming stars but it also proves to the world that Asia have damn good hip hop artists out there and they are without a doubt, international. P.S. May I just say how much I love the DJ booth? A Yaris turned into a DJ booth, how creative is that?Missed out on the festival, click here!

The thing is, telling women -- especially single women -- that they need to hurry up and have children is like telling an elderly woman with a walker that she needs to get across the street faster. She wants to get across the street. She's trying to get across the street. Yelling that the light is changing and cars are coming will not help her get across the street. One thing that would help us get across the street is shortening the time we spend in less-than-stellar relationships. And one reason these relationships can take years is that we've always had to start over from scratch. But no more, because I have devised the time- and egg-saving Relationship Equivalency Exam! The exam is completely unscientific, but until someone comes up with a better one, this is the standard. You and only you can determine whether your date's answer merits relationship credit, allowing him/her to place out of that particular relationship stage. This exam should be administered over drinks, because if all goes well, you might be moving in rather than going to dinner.Relationship Equivalency Exam for Men 1. English: What does it mean when you say, "I'll call you?" 2. Math: How many women can you have sex with and still be monogamous? 3. Psychology: Other than abject fear, what are some possible reactions to the words, "I love you?" 4. Economics: Who pays for dinner if your date makes more than you, and how long before you resent her for it? 5. Physics: Find a way to arrange your bathroom items on your half of the sink, knowing full well your girlfriend needs the whole sink for her items.Relationship Equivalency Exam for Women1. English: When you say, "I'm not in a rush to get married," define the word "rush." 2. Math: Is the amount of minutes it takes you to evaluate a date as a potential husband more than or equal to the amount of minutes it takes you to identify and ignore the red flags? 3. Psychology: Other than abject fear, what are some possible reactions to the words, "I need space?" 4. Economics: How much should you pay for an apartment you never visit in order to keep a boyfriend from freaking out that you live in his? 5. Physics: Find a way to arrange your bathroom items on your half of the sink while still maintaining the illusion that you wake up looking this good. Pencils down. Break up or marry accordingly.Note: I randomly found it while I was looking for a super old e-mail attachments, if you're in love with this, then you should get out there and get a copy of 'In Between Boyfriends, by Cindy Chupak'

The New Morroccan Nest

I have heard about Nomad bar and restaurant since April through a mutual friend, 'There's going to be a true arabian morroccan place coming up in Soi 12, seriously!' And I waited for a month, two months, and of course now it has officially arrived, elegantly. I couldn't imagine a bar and restaurant that can be both chill out and fun for partying in the almost one way lane of Sukhumvit Soi 12 but there it was, a 100 meters from the entrance of Soi 12, yes, walking distance! You'd never missed it, with all the nights shining from the trees through out the big house, Nomad, is certainly the new hype in our neighborhood. Notice the dark yet vividly display of the bar section, the big plasma TV to the the stage set for the live band to play their thing late at night. What impress me the most would probably be the seductive VIP section that is just very arabian. Cushions, curtains, and the painting that is very striking! I am one big house/trance fans and guess what, although this maybe a morroccan bar, they play music straight out the Above and Beyond CDs. Walking out of the bar, you will see a big palm trees, outdoor seatings just for the smokers as well as those who are in love with natural air, to chill out. Inside the restaurant is no less than the bar, decorated with all the imported motifs from Morrocco, the colorful hanging lamps, the sultry bar, to another private section where you can watch the trees from the glass enclosed window. I am looking forward to see people young to old at this place, dancing their night away after the fulfilling dinner! Nomad Bar and Restaurant, 3 Sukhumvit Soi 12, 02-229-4448, Open daily from 6pm-late. Click here to visit the official website.

We Love it When Big Brothers were Watching US!

BED's sixth year anniversary came with 'THE' theme, thoughtful, deep, yet very contrasting, "Big Brother is Watching You," is straight out one of my favorites books, '1984' by George Orwell. We have been to many theme parties in life, from the Caribbean to the black and white, to the Disney theme, or what not, but to actually be at this theme it's totally inspiring.Surveillance cameras were everywhere, everyone got the black tube to trance out with, people were actually wearing the dress code, what could be better on a Thursday night, especially when it is BED's birthday. As always, I am fashionably late and I didn't expect the place to be packed at 8-ish but it was! There we were the two Lifestyle crew, standing stunned by the scene, police walking from the bar section to the white room with their flash lights, trust me it takes a lot of acting skills to actually pull it off and damn right they did.I actually didn't think that we would be recorded and being watched but we were! I grabbed my drink from the white room walking to the bar section only to find the big screen with mini-live surveillance cameras. We can actually see each and every corner of BED and what people are doing, talk about being watched now this is what I am talking about!Bangkok Invaders stepped up just a little before eleven and spin their magic, from the 80's classic yet so very funky like, "I'm coming out," to my favorite track of Robin S. "Show me Love," and back to the hip hop style with both old school and in tune tracks. We were shaking like there's no tomorrow after all, it seems to us like Thursdays really are the new Fridays!Obey BED baby, they do rock!P.S. To the creative team, this is the most unique theme I have seen and been to in Bangkok, how'd you think of that?!

Charming Hed Kandi!

Third time is definitely a charm when Hed Kandi came back to Q Bar Bangkok, Sukhumvit 11 on Friday 26th, 2008, and they came in three! From DJ Andrew Daniels the resident DJ to Christopher 'Peyton' and the up and rising saxophonist Louise Batey or lovely Lady Victoria. Watch a clip here. It's not a surprise that by 11pm Q Bar was packed with the Kandi wooers, I was way at the back on the first floor snooping around the scene, mingling with the neighbors around my table, waiting for Andy to step up and play his magic. Let's just say that he did his magic alright, especially with Lady V by his side with her saxophone, now that surely blow our minds away! We were stunned by her performance with Andy D., I notice people screaming for the lady in black, squeezing themselves through the crowd just to get near her. I have never seen a saxophone combined with house beats and live vocalist in Bangkok, as far as I remember that is, and I have never seen the crowd singing along with the songs this loud before, especially to the house beats but the never seen has been seen! While Peyton and Lady Victoria had a quick break, I couldn't help but to introduce myself to Miss V. and got a couple of pictures to adore, trust me as good as she is with the sax, she was that with the people! One of my friend and I took this opportunity to surprise my sister with cupcakes, where I happened to break the number '2' candle, but the surprise went on. After the whole we smudge our faces with cream and icing, we came down at just the right time, my favorite song 'Fade' was playing and Victoria was amazing! Everybody was singing along to the words, "Never fadee from my mind yeah yeah." I can still remember screaming to Victoria that 'We love you!' That song made my night, actually the whole night was the night! Definitely one of the best Hed Kandi parties hosted in Bangkok. I guess we will have to wait and see what Q Bar will bring to us next.

The Not So Miracle 23rd September

If you're a trance/house/electro music fans then there's no doubt that Narcissus is one of many places that you have danced your night away. 23rd September of everyear is the special day for Narcissus and the fans of the club, the birthday of Narcissus was always packed with people, music, and whatever else you can imagine of. This is year is no less but in a weird kind of way I would say, 23rd September in Bangkok has never been this dirty. Driving to Narcissus, I expected at half of the indoor place to be ready since they are celebrating their birthday! So there I was walking in, seeing that there's a black bus look-a-like that so happens to be the bathroom. "Okay, I think that's the bathroom, I don't think you should pee now, hold it," I said to my friend. Walking up still in the process of construction stairs to the inside, all I could see was smoke and I doubt that it's from the cigarettes, it's more from the construction! Are you expecting the A/C, well if you are, let me break it to you, there's none.I can see the creativity in trying to make the place looks party able, and for some people I am sure they had a lot of fun, as for me, the smell of the wet cement is not really erasable! The music is no doubt, Narcissus' signature, but partying in the under construction wasn't my ideal plan for a Tuesday night. Happy birthday and I will see you in October, if you can make it.

Khun Cat in Lifestyle BK Part II

It's been two weeks since Khun Cat has arrived in our Lifestyle BK team, although I might have said I smelled like cat in the previous post, Khun Cat has now been fed, wiped with baby wipes, and apparently he is in love with my desk. Fine, I 'was' not a cat person, I am still not a cat person but Khun Cat is an exception thanks to our Sebastian for training him to be very entertaining, a.k.a. jumping on my PC and into the trash back to my lap then climbed on my shoulders to my neck, thank god he doesn't go on my head. Word is, he does sleep on Sebastian's head. Sabina and Khun Cat, don't we just look alike? We finally connected when we had plans to check out the Glow ladies night, Nakul had his thing to do, Sebastian had his tennis to play and I had nothing to do! So Khun Cat and I were pretty much playing hide and seek in the room, where I couldn't find this tiny little pussy! I had to turn off the music, sit still until he crawls out and slowly walk over, to my lap, and nap. And so I said to Khun Cat, "Aww, you love me now huh?" or he was probably saying the same thing, "You like me now huh?" My fear of cats still exists but for Khun Cat, he's the lucky charm in Lifestyle BK, if he's not in the garbage digging food that is.

What's your vision?

On Tuesday, I had an opportunity to be a part of a focus group interview, of course I am one of the hamsters. I had no idea what it was for except that it's the matter of 'graduation,' and she's a sweet friend of mine! And the things we have to do really reminds me of how we were back in school. Picture a stash of the latest magazines from Cleo, In Style, to Cosmopolitan, Yoga Today, In Love, Men's Health, FHM, whatever you can think of, it's there! We hamsters just have to cut out whatever we like from these magazines, glued them to a paper, making sure that the collage represents our 'personality' and what we want, have, or will have! As a full time feature writer working from 9.30am-6.30 plus excess hours, I wouldn't randomly say to myself, "You know what, I'm going to make my dream board." I mean seriously, we don't have much time to that stuff or even when we do have time, we spend it doing something else. So there I was carefully picking the pieces in the magazines, spended 1 hour and a half on my personal piece of art. Honestly, it surprises me what I put in together! I guess this just makes you realize what you really want! Point is? The vision board thing totally reminds me of 'The Secret,' before I left the focus group interview, I simply said, "I really want it back! Please don't forget to give me back, I'm going to stick it somewhere I can see everyday!" Truly inspiring! Whenever you're free or not free, why not just pick up a pencil, and draw your dream life, it's fun, time killing and totally worth it :)Via The Sabina

Please Judge Me

Lately I have been getting a lot of comments on my personality rather than my professions. It started with my interview as a feature blogger on Lifestyle and thanks to many good and bad criticism, it now crawls on to my personal site. First of all, I am not a celebrity, I am a writer, an amateur writer rather, loving my life, living my life, and getting attacked by it. From the "You sound like an American white trash except you're not American but you're still a trash," comment to "These actions are not suitable for Asian countries." All I have to say is, define that for me. Maybe I am full of myself and maybe I am happy all the time that people wonder why this chick is always happy, and maybe, just maybe, all these people who trashed comments for me are just purely depressed. I bet this blog right now is already provoking them, once again. However, I would like to emphasize on this one particular comment that contains a lot of grammar mistakes not to mention the countless so called star signs that I can't even filled up. To Mr. GuRoo (I am sure you know it all!)1. ask 10 men, 9(1/2) would say they want their woman unexposed. - And the other 1/2 of the population are still there, thank you, I am not worried about my exposure or non exposure. Honestly, it's not really how people dress is it? It's the inside that counts. 2. Da stuff that u r doing to yourself. Taking pics in da pool n post it on da web. Those actions r not suitable in Asian Countries. - So you would prefer it if women do not swim at all, in fact, swim in their dress, that must be better for you. Just a thought since when did 'bikini,' become an inappropriate actions for Asian countries? 3. U R popular in doing those things. BUT do u want a man just to “look” “stare” at u, or u want a relationship, love? - Men loves to stare even when women are fully clothed, for your information.4. THERE R GALS U JUST WANT TO ****, THERE R GALS U JUST WANT TO KNOW, AND THERE R GALS U WANT TO MAKE A LIFE PARTNER - And where do you fall in that? The Guru of Life with perfect marriage and a counsel for all your friends? 5. Before anything, before too late. Think again properly on what you are doing to yourself. - Just incase you have no idea what I do, I am the Feature Writer and yes, I love to party, it's life, live it. 6. I have been living for 35 years, I HAVE SEEN PEOPLE WHO DID THE EXACT SAME THING LIKE U, they are almost 40 now, never got married - No one is exactly like anyone, people are different, your friends are 40, I am 23 living in the 21st century where as you are from uhh ... decades ago? Let me assure you that when I am 40 years old and so happen to be single, I will still be happy with my life with or without your judgment. 7. As an acquaintance, I’d hate to see you to be like them. You are half way there, you can still make a correct move. - I would love to stay home, covered myself with long dresses, cook like a real woman do, scrubs the bathroom, and maybe throw in a foot massage for my imaginary husband but you know what, it's fake. You have no right to tell people what's correct and what's not.8. Your friends are engaged, and married, don’t think that they will care about what is going to happen to you. - I am happy for my married friends and I know my friends well enough than you do, thank you very much. I have my family to support me. 9. If you want to be popular, be remembered, as least be remembered for the good things you do. Not your stupidity, and how you were ****** - Please fill that blank for me, after all you pretty much said it all. People have different opinions about how I am as well as how they would love to remember me. As for you and your negativity, feel free to remember me as a _________ whatever it was that you're trying to say. 10. P.S. You posted the comments on a very irrelevant article, next time you want to post something, make sure it's on the right section. That would prove that you are the GURU.Most important of all, I am brave enough not to delete your comments, in fact, I would love thank you Mr. GuRoo for expressing your opinions and concern but I am living my life on the track. Happy the way I am and so are my parents, you can turn around and look at your own life instead before you judge me. If you were to judge me at all, do it professionally about my profession. To all the haters, you are my motivation and I am very happy to hear what you have to say.

Destined by You

We've all heard about how each and everyone of us can create our own destiny, you draw it, picture it, and have it. A lot of us mistaken the fact that if you 'think' positive you will get what you want but it's not only 'thinking' positive that's going to bring about what you want. It's how positive you feel combine with your imagination of the things that you want, together it will attract what you want. Positive affirmations can be one of the first tool you might want to use when you're mastering yourself as a magnet. If you find yourself saying, "I suck at relationships," "I hate my work, it's not me," "I can't do what you are doing," then obviously your oh-so-positive thoughts or nature is not as effective as it can be. It's time for you to start affirming to yourself that you can, you will, you are on the way, you are getting what you want, and you deserve what you want. How about you change just little of your daily dialogues from "I can't," to "I can do this, it's pretty damn easy,""I am motivated and I believe in myself, I am moving towards my goal." Or how about when someone ask you how your day is, instead of saying all the negative things about your life and affirming it to the universe that your day just sucks, look on the bright side and say, "It's great," but don't just force yourself to say it, the key is you have to FEEL it! To make it easier for some of us to 'feel' the feeling of having the things you want right now, maybe we should do whatever we would do once we have that thing, that life, that whatever, that we want. As for me, I have a photoshop image of my future 'best-selling' book along with other stuff like my M3 cars, add a music to that and ta-dah, I can already feel like they are mine!
