Cameron Highlands is located in the state of Pahang, approximately 200 kilometre north of Kuala Lumpur on the east side of the border between the states of Perak and Pahang in Malaysia. At 1,467 meters above sea level, Cameron Highlands is the highest area on the mainland and enjoys a cool climate. It's home to many tea plantations, as well as strawberry and vegetable farms, jungle trails, cascading waterfalls and rose gardens. Much of the highlands’ character remains unchanged, exuding an old English charm.
Set on a lush hillock fronting highlands only golf course, Cameron Highlands Resorts begin as an “attap” house in 1923 during the colonial era when the British discovered that the plateau was fertile for growing tea. As the tea industry flourished the humble “attap” house was converted into a British gathering house in 1946. 20 years later it burnt down and was eventually rebuilt in 1974.

The architecture of the resort reflected the historical context of Cameron Highlands.
In 1976 it started operating as a modest 65-room inn, which then was acquired by YTL Hotels in 2005. Mindful of the property’s rich history, YTL Hotels begin renovation work with a brief that the architecture of the resort reflected the historical context of Cameron Highlands as a plantation settlement back in the colonial days.

The outdoor treatment area is much preferred to the indoor treatment room, where you can get your spa treatment done amidst nature.
Cameron Highlands Resort opened its door in 2006 as a luxury 56 room boutique hotel. The Tudor exterior was retained while vibrant colours were selected to exude a warm ambience. Simple furniture with classic lines, and upholstery feature plant motifs to add detail and exhibit a ‘plantation’ feel. The interesting copper tooling panels on the staircase landing depicting Malaysian life were retained to lend an Old World character to the resort. Restoring the property to grandeur entailed transforming the former staff quarters into a luxury spa.
