As Vesak Day approaches, Golden Pagoda Buddhist Temple and Toy Factory Productions would be presenting a Mandarin (with English and Mandarin subtitles) musical titled Maha Moggallana – A Story of Filial Piety. The show is starring local musical talents like Emma Yong, Darius Tan and Sugie at the Singapore Expo on 28 and 29 May 2010.
The cast also includes over 100 performers, under the artistic direction of playwright/director Goh Boon Teck, original music by Benny Ong, and 150 outstanding set costumes to dazzle your mind.
This musical explores themes on family, love and the Buddhist religion, with values of filial piety, benevolence and compassion being very prominent in the story. The story is on how a Buddhist monk worked towards freeing his mother who is trapped in Hell. This touching story is perfect for all ages.
