Sabina Ahuja is hard to miss. A true party princess, she’s always clued into what’s happening and what’s not. This scenster can be spotted anywhere from Bed Supperclub to Long Table mingling away. In her new blog, The Sabina’s Bite of Life, she shares with us her club-hopping escapades. We pull up a chair with Sabina…

So you are as a magazine writer and a blogger how did your love affair with writing begin?

It started when I fell in love with the so-called “pink stationary,” the notebook and the pens when I was young. I would write a diary you can say and I’m sure most of the girls’ have had one of those! However, in my last year of college, I was really inspired by everything around me, from my friends to strangers, to my own complicated situations, I decided to write a sample article and send it to BK magazine, now that’s when I knew what my calling was.

So why did you name your blog, ‘The Bite of Life,’ and what can we expect?

[Smiles] I have my own site! Yes, very geeky I know! My site is the-sabina.com, tagline, ‘A Cup of Love, A Bite of Life.’ Because most of my posts are about the steaming things that are happening around Bangkok, from restaurant, to the traditional Thai New Year’s festival, to where to go for fortune telling, and of course I occasionally write about the relationship stuff, note that it’s occasionally! So yes, it’s a blog where you can taste things in Bangkok from my point of view.

What are your favourite hot spots?

There are so many places to hang out in Bangkok that I don’t even know where to begin from but since I am a huge house music fan, Tapas is one of the spot that I can’t get enough of! It’s always happening, even on weekdays, and I simply love the drummers and the crowds that are carefree, they sing a long to tunes from Robin S., you know that song, ‘You’ve Got to Show Me Love,’ to the remix of the 90’s house tunes. On the plus side, I can always go there not dressed up!

And if you were to be one drink which one would you be and why?

Amaretto Sour all the way, with two cherries, not one but two. It’s sweet, sour, not too strong, simply balancing, and if people drink triple glasses of the Amaretto magic, they would be hyper, just like me. My bubbly, funky, super-friendly personality and Amaretto Sour is like a match made in heaven.

When you’re not writing or working, what would we find you doing?

Still writing and still working but I’m also a hardcore Yoga freak! From ‘Power’ to ‘Hot’ to ‘Ashtanga,’ you name it, I am doing it five times a week! Yes, even after attending an event till dawn, yoga is on the list. A cup of Earl Grey tea with my sisters and girlfriends are our usual day off slash after work routine, not to mention hunting down for new place to hang out at! After all, Bangkok is full with surprises!

You’ve got the personality, the lifestyle, living the lifestyle, but what’s happening in the love department
?

My love department involves my family, my mini-cocker spaniel dog, Alex, and Lifestyle BK, of course my girlfriends and a few guy friends, but no, my relationship status for the love-love department, is called “Single and fabulous and loving it!”

Where do you see yourself five years from now?

‘Sabina Ahuja, the best-selling author is now married to Mr. _____, the CEO of _____,’ [laughs]. So would you come to my book launch and wedding? And if I happen to be single in five years, you can always visit me in Seattle that should be my next pit stop, at least for now!

And five years ago you were…

A high school cheerleader slash editor of ‘Breeze,’ magazine with my own ‘Dear Sabby,’ column, and I was so in love with love, typical teenager, just a little different, in my own way. However, the most memorable thing about five years ago was when I got my first tattoo, which I never regretted! Two dolphins wrapped around the yin-yang, totally peaceful and inspiring! Definitely one thing that defines who I am then and who I am now.

Why should we read your blog?

Because you might miss out on some awesome party last weekend, all your friends were there and you’re wondering how it was, well click ‘Sabina’s Bite of Life!’ I don’t just put a bunch of text in; there are videos, pictures all quite entertaining actually. Besides, you’d find a lot more on my blog than you think, behind the scene with celebrated artists like Akon, whom I recently interviewed, so expect the unexpected, you never know who will be my next target!
