Gucci has done their part for the Home film by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, co-produced by Luc Besson and PPR. Now, Sergio Rossi is joining in on the cause by launching the Sergio Rossi Eco Pump, a stiletto pump produced using environmentally friendly processes.
For the production of the shoe, Sergio Rossi has collaborated with the German research institute Fraunhofer Institut, a world leader in the research of alternative materials.
The result is an annivoative sole that has been conceived in biodegradable liquid wood and contains a low percentage of leather waste. The process used to create the heel, also in liquid wood, means it is super strong. For the leather, Sergio Rossi worked with an eco-sensitive tanner.
Part of the proceeds from the sale of the Eco Pump will support the non-profit organisation GoodPlanet.org. It will go on sale on 5th of June, 2009.
