Shenzhen, a 40-minute drive from Hong Kong, is fast becoming the next tourist destination besides Macau and Hong Kong, for those travelling in the region.
If you're considering heading down to explore one of China's most populous cities, you should check out these places when you're in town.
Where to shop
KK Mall, which is also based under the tallest building in the city (441.8 metres), houses most of the fashion labels from the upper end of the retail market. And if shopping isn't enough to entertain you, KK Mall is also the first location in Shenzhen to have an IMAX 3D theatre, for those who want to catch a 3D movie while they shop.
Should one mall not be enough, head on down a street away to the biggest mall in Shenzhen, MixC. Besides having all the high end fashion labels, MixC is home to an Olympic-size indoor ice skating rink, a cinema as well as a OLE, a high class supermarket with loads of imported products.

Where to visit
OCT (Overseas Chinese Town) East, which opened back in 2007, is a nine square-kilometre area that houses three theme parks -- Knight Valley, Tea Stream Valley and Wind Valley-- as well as resort hotels, three small scenic towns and golf courses. OCT is a must-go tourist destination, as it packs all things fun into one location.
Be sure to catch the finale performance in their theatre before heading back out for the night. Far from your average stage show, it combines acrobatic moves, aerial performances, motorbikes and water stunts.
