The Travel Diary - Things to do in Taipei

What to do in Taipei when you have less than a week

It's true. Taipei 101 is no longer the tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa in Dubai is. But just like every city out there, Taipei is definitely worth visiting, at least once for that matter.

As much as she is constantly being overshadowed by her East Asian metropolitan counterparts such as Hong Kong and Tokyo, Taipei is really not as mundane as it protrays itself to be. Check out some of the to-dos we have for you!

Where to Shop

Often known as the "Shibuya of Taipei", Ximending is one of the largest shopping district in the city. Trendsetters and style junkies alike, this is Taiwan's fashion mecca.

The main reason why there's approximately 3 million shoppers every month is simply because one day is not enough for you to do all your shopping!

Where to Visit

Being the cultural epicentre of Taiwan, Taipei is well-known for her countless historical landmarks and memorial halls. Should you have no time to check them all out, we'd suggest that you take just half a day and be immersed in the rich culture of Taipei that is National Palace Museum.

This national museum of Taipei has a current collection of 677,687 ancient Chinese artefacts and artworks, making it one of the largest in the world. If history has never interested you before, it will surely do so after.

And should you be feeling a little undaunted, head out to the Shilin Night Market and have a bite on everything you can get your hands on. Some local delicacies include their XXL fried chicken steak, stinky tofu, oyster vermicelli, bubble tea and fried buns.
