3) Freelance contributors
LifestyleAsia is looking for a few good contributors to round out our talented staff. If you think you have ideas to make our site even more fabulous (it’s hard, we know) and the skill to make it happen, let's talk.
What we offer
Flexibility. As a contributor, you pitch stories that interest you. If your thing is tech/gadgets, go for it. Love the local modelling scene? It’s all yours. If you want to write about a different luxury lifestyle topic every week, we have more than enough work for you. We don’t require contributors to specialise in one topic – unless that’s what you want. If you’re looking to build a portfolio, contributing to LifestyleAsia will set you well on your way.
Fun. LifestyleAsia is Asia’s essential guide to living the good life in Bangkok, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, which means that we need people behind-the-scenes, getting the scoop at new venues and at exclusive press conferences and parties. These topics are fun to write about, and for people passionate about living the good life, this kind of access is key.
What we're looking for
Talent. You need to be good at what you do, and have a passion for sharing your knowledge with others. We’re not looking for people who can regurgitate press releases, but people who are looking to show the best of Bangkok, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore to our readers.
Curiosity. Although we have a broad range of contacts, we need contributors who are always on the lookout for stories to cover in their city.
Commitment. We want people who can contribute quality work on a consistent basis. This doesn’t mean that you need to write everyday, but writers who can post at least once a week are preferred.
Passion. Some people live for the luxury fashion, dining, entertainment, travel or the tech scene. We feel you, we love this stuff too. Our contributors need to be passionate about the topics they cover -- if they aren’t, who will be?
What you’ll get
Exposure. Invaluable exposure to key contacts in the luxury industry, entry to Hong Kong’s most exclusive parties and events, tastings at some of the city’s finest restaurants and piles of schwag.
A platform. LifestyleAsia is a massive force around the region, and having your name on the site means more eyeballs on you and your work. If you’ve been looking to make a name for yourself as Singapore’s best foodie, Bangkok’s fashion guru, Hong Kong VIP party maven or KL’s cocktail connoisseur, use us to make that happen.
Your own space. You’ll get a bio on the site after a month of regular, quality contributions.
Money. Wait, no, actually this is the one thing you don’t get. We’ll open doors for you and give you a highly visible platform to report on, but you need to do it for those perks, not the cash. It’s true, no contributors have seen any compensation outside the love they get for reporting for us, and the good karma we know they’re accruing for later in life.
