The haute couture shows for Spring 2020 are officially over. But the beauty looks are here to stay.
As the haute couture shows bow out for another season, we take a look at how some of the Spring/Summer 2020 catwalk beauty looks were achieved.
The Dior haute couture beauty look was all about the eyes, which makeup artist Peter Philips drew attention to with double-lined eyeliner, accessorized with a hint of gold. First, he prepped the skin with the ‘Dior Backstage Face & Body Primer,’ before using ‘Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation’ and ‘Dior Forever Skin Correct Concealer’ to create a flawless base, the house has revealed via Instagram. The double-winged liner was then applied using the ‘Diorshow On Stage Liner’ in matte black and the gold eyeshadow from the house’s ‘Dior Backstage Eye Custom Palette 001.’
Giorgio Armani Privé
At the Giorgio Armani Privé show it was the hot pink lips that did the talking. As explained on the brand’s Instagram account, after creating a smooth, dewy base, the makeup artists applied a touch of the Armani ‘Lip Maestro’ lip stain in the shade ‘Rose,’ blending it out at the edges for a soft, romantic look.

A look backstage. @Mathilde_Henning gets ready for the CHANEL Spring-Summer 2020 Haute Couture show. To create the sculpted eyes STYLO OMBRE ET CONTOUR in Contour Mauve was used to define the socket and blended. To add more depth STYLO OMBRE ET CONTOUR in Contour Brun was layered on top and blended in. A touch of the dusty pink beige shade from LES 4 OMBRES in Elemental was swept across the mobile eyelids to diffuse the colour. STYLO YEUX WATERPROOF in Blanc Graphique was then applied to the upper and lower lash lines, brightening the eyes. “This makeup is all about light and shadow, the contour, the sculpting of the face,” Chanel’s Global Creative Make up and Colour Designer Lucia Pica explained via social media regarding the look she crafted for the house’s haute couture show. “There is a harmonious finish of colors and textures.” According to Instagram, Pica used concealer from the Chanel ‘Palette Essentielle’ to create a defined cupid’s bow, and achieved the romantic eye makeup by blending the ‘Stylo Ombre et Contour’ in the shades ‘Contour Mauve’ and ‘Contour Brun,’ before layering a dusty pink beige shadow from the Chanel ‘Les 4 Ombres’ in ‘Elemental.’
