Just in time for the Chinese New Year, M.A.C Cosmetics has brought their exclusive Lunar Illusions collection with a new festive colour palette and we are loving it. The longstanding classics have been revamped to vibrant, playful patterns that symbolise renewal and good fortune.

New traditions, new inspiration, and new combinations… M.A.C Cosmetics has given its fans a chance to renew their makeup bags for the Chinese New Year, which falls on January 25. The brand has not followed the trend for mice or rats, the Chinese zodiac symbols for 2020, in the packaging for its new range, but instead has opted for blue, pink, and peach-colored motifs, reminiscent of the Forbidden City.

“This new year is all about taking the products you love from the past into the future. Change is good, but not always easy, and this collection offers new color combinations and textures that are practical but can also work for the professional. As a makeup artist, this collection inspires me to create looks that are timeless with a take on future trends,” said Regan Rabanal, MAC’s Senior Manager of Make-up Artistry.

The collection includes a palette of nine eye-shadows that evoke moonlit eyes with metallic pink, peach-bronze, iridescent plum, purple with blue highlights, and frosted white shades. There is also a powder blush duo, and a champagne-colored Extra Dimension Skinfinish liquid-powder highlighter, which comes decorated with a dragon.

A selection of lip essentials completes the lineup of lunar makeup: there are four Lipglass colors — a purple, an iridescent coral, an intense red, and a gold — and also lipsticks in a range of different shades of red, a color that is traditionally associated with the Chinese New Year, which includes a blue-tinted red, an orange-red, and a brick-red.

The “Lunar Illusions” collection by M.A.C Cosmetics is already available from retail outlets and from the brand’s online store at Maccosmetics.com.
