What are you wearing this weekend?
As we fall into the sweet embrace of Saturday and Sunday and start to make plans for brunch, beach selfies, or binge-watching, we’re also starting to think about what to wear. After all, for many of us, the allure of the weekend comes with a special allure to the closet.
A lot of us dress differently depending on whether it’s a weekday or the weekend. Some are more casual on Fridays. Some are more lax on Sundays. Some go completely commando on a Saturday night.
Whatever your outfit of choice, there’s a lipstick to suit the occasion. Here, we’ve put together a sweet guide to which one you should go for, according to the kind of experience you’re in to.

Is Vaso the hottest new restaurant about town? And is Crimson Room luring it into a love for jazz and burlesque? To probe into both of these questions, opt for the new Chanel Rouge Allure Laque (THB 1450). An elegant number that looks as good on your lips as it does when you pull it out of your clutch throughout the night, we love its satin shine and genuinely long-lasting hydration. Though not strictly a lipstick (it’s a more fun sibling thereof), it comes in a variety of shades, ranging from Iconique brick red over to a more understated Rosewood nude, so it’s suited to both dinner and drinks. It’s easy to apply, and it’s water resistant too, which is handy for when you toast to life with a glass of sparkling.
We love using a trip to the beach as an excuse to wear bright shades. Not exactly new but definitely still a favourite choice is the Dior Addict Stellar Halo Shine (THB 1490). Lusciously hydrating and with a hint of shimmering shine, it’s well-suited to your seaside adventures, whether this involves impromptu dance parties at the villa or that fire show at Coco Tam’s. Mermaid look, anyone?
Have you checked out Central: The Original Store on Charoenkrung yet? It’s definitely worthy of a visit, whether it’s for a cup of coffee at the new Siwilai Cafe, the Aksorn restaurant upstairs helmed by Chef David Thompson, or the many interesting memorabilia from the 1950s. For any and all these explorations, go for this very cool Hourglass Confession Refillable Lipstick Duo Sculpture (THB 2000). It comes with a custom faceted gold applicator, and is available in two exclusive new shades: cranberry and deep rose.
For this kind of trip, nothing looks and sounds and feels more apt than the Tarte Rainforest of The Sea Splash Lipstick (THB 920). It’s powered by water, and is designed to be ultra-creamy and hydrating. We love that it’s inspired by the sea, and that it features Tarte’s antioxidant complex to even help smooth lip lines. When you’re at Keemala, you’re likely to be mesmerised by your ‘Bird Nest’ villa, so it’s good that you don’t have to overthink your lipstick, either. Just grab this.
Have you checked out Giglio yet? For the most talked-about Italian restaurant about town, go for a lipstick that is equally as striking, like the Makeup For Ever Rouge Artiste Lipstick. Inspired by the painter’s brush, it’s clear there was a lot of thought put into the design, making the bullet an easy one to “paint your lips” with. Sporting Sassy Rhubarb (THB 770), head to dinner in this number and effortlessly paint your lips like an artist, as the chef of his own arts preps you a pasta you’ll dream about long after.
We all had minor heart attacks when we heard Teens of Thailand was closing last month — but luckily it was only for renovation. If you’re heading out for a Chrysanthemum gin or seven this weekend, there’s nothing like a quick and chill companion to take with you. We recommend the Fenty Pro Kiss’r Luscious Lip Balm (THB 700), which is super casual and super creamy, and provides super kiss-worthy lips — you know, just in case. If you’re up for food-hopping in Yaowarat right before or after, it’s easy to reapply, and looks very natural especially in the Cocoa Drizzle or Latte Lips shade.
For a lipstick to match your wine, bring the drama with this Tom Ford Beauty Lip Spark Lipstick (THB 2100). The metallic, sequinned lipstick ensures you’re already dressed in just summer dress and a smear of this on your lips. Effortless, and yet so outstanding, we love the playful purple shade that really screams ‘it’s the weekend, baby.’ Cheers to that.
If you’re looking to do sports, or, more realistically, eat Pad Thai at Sports Club and catch up with friends, there’s nothing like some collagen to spruce up your session. Charlotte Tilbury’s Collagen Lip Bath (approx. THB 1070) is enriched with collagen and mustard sprout extract, giving your lips a plumping effect. It’s also got a high-shine finish, and is made with coconut oil and peppermint extract to soothe that pout. Selfie? You’re ready.
Remember when going to JJ Market on the weekend was a fun way to spend the weekend? Bring back those times. As you roam the alleyways in search of vintage denim jackets, wooden frames for your glasses, or some special home decor, sport this Gucci Beauty Rouge a Levres Mat (THB 1525). We love the engraved gold bullet that gives it a lightly vintage flair, and we love the variety of shades it comes in. The inspiration for this lipstick range is said to come from the timeless glamour of Old Hollywood, so it’s all very fitting.
If we’re entirely honest and if it’s still raining heavily as you’re reading this, you’ll know there’s no place like home during these last weeks of the rainy season. Yet while we’re all for sweatpants and pyjamas and wearing a pillow as an outfit (#PillowChallenge, never forget), there’s no reason not to wear lipstick at home. Maybe you’re making dinner for bae and want to get romantic. Maybe you’re binge-watching Netflix and want to feel like Emily in Paris. Maybe your crush comes by because he ran out of Mama Noodles… For any and all those scenarios, try this Smashbox Always on Cream to Matte Lipstick (THB 900). It is a matte lipstick that still manages to hydrate sufficiently, and comes in a variety of bold shades. See, you can have your cake at home this weekend and eat it too.
