5 body care rituals to try out this week

It’s great to give your face a lot of attention during this time, but don’t forget to take care of your body, too.

By ‘summer body,’ we don’t mean just a swimsuit body, but one that is well-taken care of, groomed and geared up to make you look and feel good.

For all the skincare we dabble in, we sure ignore our body, so here’s a list of ideas that will help you take care of your body the right way.

Dry Brushing

It’s popular on Instagram but tedious to do in real life. With lockdown and time in your hands, it’s best to indulge and make the best of this underrated ritual. Dry brushing decreases inflammation, evens out skin, is a natural skin exfoliating process, supports the immune system, and improves blood circulation. It also stimulates and drains the lymphatic system. Buy yourself a good brush from Skin Gym (THB 1370) to slough away dead skin cells, and get rid of unwanted toxins stored in the body.

Body oils are greater than body butters

During summers, look for body oils rather than heavy creams. They sink into the skin and make you feel lighter. Body oils post-shower can also help to make your skin feel so good in minutes.

“If the skin on your body is dry, an oil will definitely improve the texture and give relief from dull/dry and flaky skin. Now oil can work wonders, and you can use it as is or even blend ten drops of oil into your regular body moisturiser to nourish the skin,” explains Amanda Bell, Global Director of Education and Artistry at Pixi. If you are feeling particularly indulgent, try the Pixi Beauty Body Glow Mist (THB 590) to refresh and rejuvenate your body. The Clarins Relax Body Treatment Oil (THB 2700) is also a great option.

Learn to exfoliate well

“Always exfoliate the skin, once a week with a body exfoliator that gently lifts the dry or dead skin and smooths and softens — like the Pixi Glycolic Body Peel for dry skin. Key ingredients are Glycolic, Ginseng and Aloe, and it also has super smoothing lactic acid and small grains for a double-duty exfoliation,” explains Bell, Global Director at Pixi.

Take care of your elbows, neck, and underarms

It’s time to take care of your elbows, neck, and underarms, which are often-ignored areas. The delicate skin is known to have fewer oil glands, so there is bound to be redness and irritation, especially in the summer. We’ve heard of cult products like the Clarins Super Restorative Decollete And Neck Concentrate (THB 4160) and Kiehl’s Super Multi-Corrective Anti-Aging Face and Neck Cream (THB 2655) to combat this.

Don’t forget that sunscreen

Sunscreen is not just for your face but also your body, so look for sunscreen sprays or pick up body lotions that contain SPF. A few interesting staple products that will get you to where you need are Cetaphil Sun SPF 30 Light Gel (THB 888) or the Biore Uv Aqua Rich Watery Gel Sunscreen Spf 50 (THB 420) and the Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum Sunscreen (THB 640).
