Q&A: Ole Henriksen busts some Vitamin C skincare myths with us

OleHenriksen has finally made it to Thailand.

That’s right, cult skincare brand OleHenriksen is finally dropping in Sephora Thailand in-stores and online from April 22nd onwards. The Danish skincare brand was founded in 1975 on the basis that great skin begins with a positive outlook.

And positive is exactly what the brand’s eponymous founder is like. With his joyful approach to life and a firsthand experience with cystic acne, Ole Henriksen was able to put together what worked and what didn’t for his skincare brand OleHenriksen.

The brand’s Truth Collection is one of its best-selling lines, alongside the Transform Collection and the Balance Collection. The Truth collection is powered by Vitamin C as its main ingredient, with cult products like the Banana Bright Eye Creme, C-Rush Brightening Gel Creme, and Banana Bright Vitamin C Serum. With such a strong line of products centring on Vitamin C, who better to ask about the ingredient than Henriksen himself?

Below, we pick his brains on Vitamin C skincare myths, what works, and how you can get that #OLEGlow.

Is Vitamin C safe to use on sensitive or sensitised skin?

Our products contain Vitamin C that is carefully formulated to be safe for everyday use. For example, the C-Rush Brightening Gel Crème (THB 1700) from our Truth Collection is a great daily moisturiser powered by three sources of Vitamin C that deliver 24-hour hydration.

What skin type would benefit from Vitamin C as a skincare ingredient and why?

The Truth collection is all about high levels of Vitamin C to brighten and illuminate your skin, as well as strengthen your skin’s collagen and optimize elasticity. Whether your skin type is normal, oily, combination or dry, a daily dose of vitamin C can do wonders for your skin. When added to your skincare routine, this powerhouse ingredient can provide a wide range of benefits to keep your skin youthful, glowing, and fresh.

Is Vitamin C best used in daytime or night time skincare routines?

Our products containing vitamin C can be used during both daytime and night time. The Banana Bright Vitamin C Serum (THB 2390) is an example of a serum for day and night, with 15% vitamin C, 5% of Poly Hydroxy Acids to resurface and smoothen your skin, and those banana powder-inspired mineral pigments that will illuminate your skin and make it look like sunshine all day long and at night when you sleep.
You can pair it with C-Rush Brightening Gel Crème, which is extremely lightweight and comfortable on the skin. It provides 24-hour hydration without feeling greasy, making it perfect products for hot and humid environments.

Other than Vitamin C, what other products or ingredients can help give skin that #OLEGlow?

We carry a comprehensive range of extraordinary, potent products that are packed with some of nature’s most skin transformational ingredients. I believe in a holistic approach to both skincare and lifestyle to bring out everyone’s #OLEGlow.

My advice is to exfoliate, treat, and soothe. When you treat your skin this way, you’ll be able to achieve the #OLEGlow. Routinely eliminate dead skin cells by exfoliating your skin, for which I recommend the Lemonade Smoothing Scrub. This dual-action sugar scrub containing high-potency AHAs does double duty to physically and chemically exfoliate your complexion. With all the dead skin cells eliminated, you can properly treat and soothe the skin. Next is from the Truth franchise, which is all about high levels of Vitamin C to brighten and illuminate your skin, strengthen your skin’s collagen, and optimise elasticity, with all-vegan formulas.

OleHenriksen is available at Sephora Thailand in-stores and online from April 22nd onwards.
