6 reasons why we’re going to Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous

Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous (KRSR), one of Asia’s most exclusive super-yachting events held at the famous luxury resort and residence – Kata Rocks – is returning to Phuket for the third time in December and we must say, we’re getting pretty hyped. With a 3-day-agenda that’s filled to the brim with glamorous parties, bespoke activities and exclusive social events, guests may just be privy to the making of yachting history as they attend what can only be described as one of the most talked about events in the Asian yachting calendar. Phuket is a rising star in the global yachting scene and if there’s one event that could make the star shine even brighter, this one’s probably it, alongside – of course – the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta.  Let’s look into why we’re so excited about this event.

#1 Representing Southeast Asia

Although only coming into its third year, KRSR brings together some of the world’s most iconic and international superyacht brands in Phuket. Last year saw over 16 superyachts and and 6 yachts sail into the event, confirming its elite status as one of the most rapidly growing and most spectacular superyachts gatherings in Southeast Asia. There are few other events of this status that are able to put Phuket on the world map for yachting in the way this one can.

#2 Exclusive guestlist

With a curated guest list that includes yacht owners, industry professionals and a mix of media from all corners of the globe, KRSR connects superyacht enthusiasts together in one place, but, there’s just one catch: it’s by invitation-only. With a guestlist that’s fewer than 500, the attendees feature the creme de la creme of the yachting world and that certainly gets our hearts beating a bit faster.

#3 Yacht-watching

Sure enough, yacht owners and enthusiasts will either be showing off their toys or eyeing up the toys of others’. There will be a string of opportunities for yacht-watching, perhaps during the ‘yacht hop’ and big boys toys experience or the ‘King’s Cup Superyacht Experience’. And there will be plenty more yacht candy to eye up as Kata Rocks is set to welcome back some of the world’s leading luxury yachting brands, reputable shipyards and highly esteemed brokerage houses, with visiting brands such as Hemisphere Monaco, Benetti, Princess Yachts, Seal Superyachts and more.

Additionally, Oceanco – a top global shipyard and world leader in building custom yachts that also wowed audiences at the Monaco Yacth Show 2018 with its DAR, a 295ft yacht – will be attending KRSR for the first time.

#4 Exceptional dining, drinking and partying

KRSR will start with an exclusive reception for guests, inspired by the unique Peranakan culture and Sino-Portuguese heritage of Phuket Old Town. There will also be the Superyacht Captain’s dinner, brought to guests by Benetti and Hemisphere Monaco. Other exciting events include the Camper & Nicholsons and Royal Huisman cocktail party and the private beach BBQ at luxury beach resort The Surin Phuket. Oh, and let’s not forget the Champagne media breakfast presented by Benetti! KRSR will wrap things off in style, with a splendid gala party inspired by ‘The journey to the Med.’ theme, with live entertainment, a ‘special stage performance’ and spectacular fireworks over the Andaman ocean.

#5 It’s Phuket!

Phuket is not only a prime spot for yachting but it is also in itself gorgeous, offering beautiful scenery, stunning beaches, warm local hospitality and of course amazing food. We doubt guests will be able to leave KRSR much but they might be inclined to go try out PRU, the farm-to-table restaurant Helmed by chef Jim Ophorst that just won a Michelin-star at this year’s MICHELIN Guide Bangkok, Phuket and Phang-Nga 2019. And Phuket itself, especially Phuket Old Town, is brimming with an incredibly unique cultural heritage, a splendid combination of Sino-Portuguese architecture, art galleries, cafes and exotic cuisine.

#6 Kata Rocks

Last but not least, the event takes place at an incredible location, Kata Rocks, deemed to be one of the best five-star Phuket luxury villas and resorts Thailand has to offer. Probably the reason why superyacht owners all flock there. With a seductive range of pool villas, spa choices, oceanfront views and candle-lit dinners, it’s going to be pretty hard to say goodbye. Expect our full review of the resort at the end of this year.

KRSR will be happening from 6–9 December, 2018. For more information on this event, please visit www.katarockssuperyachtrendezvous.com.
