Fashtag

In this thesis exhibition by the Rajamangala University of Technology Krungthep, (Pranakorntai), art and technology collide and old meets new. Following on from their electrifying fashion show last month, the fashion students present one of a kind pieces from the show that embody unique and futuristic looks, drawing inspiration from scientific concepts such as DNA, genetic modification and cloning. In a similar manner to how nucleotides are used to form new DNA strands and essentially, new beings, old textiles and traditional Thai aesthetics are modified, cut, dyed, re-used and re-designed using new ideas and techniques to create a new-wave exhibition that just should not be missed! Here is the face of Thailand’s new generation fashion.

The orchestra, under the direction of chief conductor Alfonso Scarano, brings a fresh spirit to one of the greatest symphonic works of all time, Gustav Mahler’s resurrection symphony or ‘Symphony No. 2’. Here is the story of Mahler confronting mortality and rebirth, expressing his tender love of nature while simultaneously challenging the audience – at times – to examine our own humanity. All this in a ninety-minute span filled with powerful orchestral forces that are joined by soloists as well as the Mahidol University Choir under the baton of Rit Subsomboon.
