The perfect way to soothe you into that sweet Friday feeling: meet the Lifestyle Asia BK Playlist

Taking inspiration from our favourite venues about town, every last Friday of the month we’re inviting a Bangkok cool cat to curate an exclusive playlist for our readers (and listeners) to tune in to. Whatever your jam, consider it the ideal pre-game, house party, solo party, or even casual commute track list at your handy disposal. We only give our guest DJs one prerequisite: make it really, really vibe-y.

Could there be anything cooler than an edgy, modish courtyard in the heart of town? Centred around a concept of ‘Eat, Play, and Drink’ this community lifestyle epicentre leaves us in a culinary edge with a dose of liveliness through its devoted diners — making 72 Courtyard a true Thonglor neighbourhood haven.

Located in the heartbeat of Bangkok, the Thonglor neighbourhood hangout feels a lot like chilling at your best friend’s patio. The old-school vibe, the jamming sessions, and the artsy yet relaxed ambiance calls in all cool cats — whether you’re here for a game of beer pong or a full-out night of clubbing. It’s always going to be that ‘it spot’ that lightens up your weekdays and weekends. That’s why this month the Lifestyle Asia Playlist is curated by 72 Courtyard.

Beer Belly

A festival of joy in the belly? Sip some craft beers while you let loose with your squads and engage in some trivial games at Beer Belly. Tapping into the same rhythm, play some music from 72 Courtyard’s playlist, whether it’s Childish Gambino’s Summertime Magic or Pedestrian’s Hoyle Road, plunge yourself into the mood and make that win.

Little Donkey

If you are there for the booze but also want to satisfy your inner foodie, then there’s an array of eateries that serve some mouth-watering dishes. If you fancy yakitori with sake, head to Lucky Fish, which is a blend of Japanese café and gastro pub. Fulfil your temptations of carb-loaded treats at the cosy Italian resto-bar, Carbar, that promises comfort food with a thoughtful list of wines to keep the conversations going. We promise you won’t miss their neon sign. If you’re in the mood for wholesome house-made food, then Little Donkey’s multi-cuisine dishes will be absolutely palate-pleasing. Go there for the Mama “Donut” and the Little Donkey Burger that has that extra kick that will certainly bring you back here.

In the mood for singing? Savoy is the ultimate place to be for karaoke. Housing a Punch Bar and Singing room, get hall of fame moment at this den. Get a taste of the Mexican culture in the Mexican bistro, Touche Hombre, which serves everything that will make you say delicioso! Dig in their fatty lamb and smooth soft tacos with some frozen margaritas for an icy night. Now, let’s sway our way to the Instagram king – Evil Man Blues. This 1950s looking American diner steals the thunder with its glitzy purple and gold enigma, and, of course, crafty cocktails. Want some grilled cheese and hot wings on the side? You’ve got it. Go there to enjoy the glamorous vibe and stay there to gaze over the artwork curated by a man’s madness. You might be feeling Peggy Gou’s Starry Night or Al Green’s I Feel Good at the moment, to pair up with your sneaky cocktails.

Touche Hombre

Switch on your party-mode and enter the world of deep tech-house at Beam. The LED laser light show, music from up-and-coming artists, and the European dance club vibe is often the kind that resonates with millennials. Feeling Kanye West’s Waves? It’s the TGIF moment you’ve been waiting for all week.

Can’t make it tonight? Good thing, we’ve got this playlist that hits up all the tunes to captivate in this trendy capsule called 72 Courtyard. Jam to tracks like Redbone’s Come and Get Your Love, John Mayer’s New Light, or Rayelle’s Get Dat — this playlist is a wholesome rollercoaster ride of good vibes only. If you’re anything like us, you’ve already got your headphones ready to plug-in.
