Editor’s Picks: the best bites we’re legit obsessing over this week

With many establishments around town insisting on feeding the city with their scrumptious fare, Bangkok dwellers are always in luck and always get their cravings met.

Especially with the lockdown being eased and restaurants and cafes back to opening and serving kitchen-to-table meals, city dwellers are now back to the usual ritual of dining out. From flower-shaped coconut milk jellies to sushi burrito and coffee by a gallon, we’ve been giving new food establishments a shot, for both dine-in and delivery, and here is our list of food deliveries and restaurants we are currently obsessed with and can’t get enough of this week.

Arch BKK– Alisha Pawa, Culture Writer

For our culture writer Alisha to get sufficiently caffeinated, a cup or two of coffee just won’t suffice anymore. These days she needs a whole gallon straight from the indoor pool-side cafe, Arch BKK. The venue offers three different types: latte, cold brew coffee, and cold brew tea. So caffeine connoisseurs have a few options to switch up every week – or every other two days.

Pimp My Salad and Vistro Bangkok– Lisa Gries, Managing Editor

Recently, we’ve shifted our cheat-day lunch into something more wholesome and nutrient-dense. And since our managing editor, Lisa Gries has discovered Pimp My Salad, this new Sathorn salad haunt has made her carb-less, veg-more mission easy peasy. The Hula Hula Tuna bowl (THB 360) comprising of tuna poke, smashed avocado, edamame, kimchi, brown rice, and furikake is a well-balanced blend of cool and acidic elements.

Another health-forward option Lisa always strikes for is the Sushiritto (THB 270); a cross between temaki sushi and a burrito from Bangkok’s vegan eatery, Vistro Bangkok. The rice burrito comes stuffed with marinated tofu, avocado, cucumber, and sriracha mayo and hoisin sauce, oozing out a satisfaction where you don’t even need meat.

Pizza Massilia and Jelly Eight – Kankanit Wichiantanon, Dining & Interiors Writer

For me, nothing says “I care” like homemade bread and pizza, but when the time is tight then the Bake Me Home pizza kit by Pizza Massilia is my saver. The pizzeria delivers a delicious sourdough dough, tomato sauce, and toppings like cheese and cold cuts in a package ready to be prepped and popped right into the oven just a few minutes before dinner time.

Another best bite I’m absolutely into this week is this set of flower-shaped coconut milk jelly from Jelly Eight that looks more like it belongs on my desk as a decoration than in my belly. Not only does the jelly looks instagrammable, it’s also surprisingly delicious and packs a punch of sweet, caramel notes.
