When it comes to restaurants, everyone has their favourite in mind. And with some of us being a creature of habit, going out to eat means heading towards the same restaurant and ordering our same favourite things over and over again.

At certain times, however, breaking a habit means discovering new dishes packed with a punch of flavours — it’s basically like an adventure served on a plate. Here, we’ve listed five new Bangkok dining menus over at our beloved restaurants coming out hot and sizzling right after the lockdown just so you could switch over from your regular orders to some new, exciting tastes.

Mia

When it comes to Mia, there’s no letdown. Now we know that’s a big word, but give it a go and you’ll understand why. Post-lockdown brings about a whole new tasting menu and a soft revamp for the venue. Diners can now stop by the Curtain, a sleek, dimly-lit bar for thirst-quenching and soul-soothing cocktails along with signature bar snacks and appetisers. Do order the ‘Be a Movie’, a concocted drink served in a playful popcorn cup topped with real popcorn to kick off your night.

Then make your way to the “Rooms” where you can revel in a seasonal 8-course tasting menu (THB 2,550++). Apart from the drool-inducing Kombu-cured Hake served with cauliflower three ways and the impressively fork-tender 48-Hour Slow-Cooked Short Rib, what really takes centre stage is the Snacks: Chickpea Pillow with Crab, Pea Tartlette with Smoked Curd, Foie Gras Biscuit with Dark Chocolate and Oyster with Guava. Liven up the whole dinner also with a wine pairing (a choice of four glasses for THB 1,650++ or six glasses for THB 2,300++), with a selection of wines sourced from superb vineyards around the world.

Enoteca

Italian cuisine is an ultimate comfort meal, especially when you dine here at Enoteca. The wine oasis and Italian food haven now offers a “DINE-IN” tasting menu crafted by the talented Chef Stefano Borra, featuring four mouth-walloping dishes with as low a price as THB 1,500++ for the set. Take pleasure in our favourite, the scrumptious Compressed Octopus with Black Ink, Wasabi and Tomato creams dotted like jewels all around, followed by the Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe and their famed Beef Shank braised low and slow in red wine served with mashed potatoes. Then cap it all off with Hot Chocolate Foam spooned atop crushed rum ice.

La Scala

What sets La Scala apart from other Italian eateries is that it bridges together traditional, comfort Italian fare with fine-dining flair, evidenced in its menu varied from the a la carte options of pizza, pasta, and salads, to a seasonal tasting menu. This season, the famed Italian haunt welcomes new Chef Anthony Burd to the kitchens. With former tenures at star-studded restaurants — Marea by Michael White in NYC, Al Molo and Mercato in Hong Kong to name a few — Chef Anthony brings along expertise in Italian fine dining tradition. He has introduced new a la carte dishes along with a specially curated tasting menu spiked with the chef’s charm and culinary insight. The menu is priced at THB 3,200++ with additional of THB 2,000++ for wine pairing.

Saawaan

The award-winning Suan Phlu fine dining spot Saawaan has reopened with a new menu, redefining Thai classic dishes with five-star touches and locally grown and farmed ingredients. Thai food lovers, get ready to treat your taste buds with a 9-course tasting menu (at a friendly THB 1,980++) curated by Chef de Cuisine Sujira ‘Aom’ Pongmorn. It features everything from Fermented Noodle served with organic vegetables to Beef Tongue Massaman Curry, whilst still maintaining that beloved Rice Paddy Crab dish from the previous menu. For dessert, feast on a chocolate delicacy crafted form Thailand-grown cocoa beans from Chantaburi, Chumpon and Chiang Mai. Upgrade the whole experience with wine pairing (a selection of old and new for an additional THB 1,890++) or even tea pairing (THB 680++) with a variety of excellent wild teas from around Thailand.

La Cocina

When you’re in the mood to “treat yourself consciously” just as La Cocina puts it, opt for a wellness-forward meal here where you can take a dive deep into healthy Mexican fare. This includes their vegan ceviche “Tom Ka” made with roasted cauliflower and tangy coconut milk-based leche de tigre (tiger’s milk) as well as Mayita, a grilled pork taco wrapped within the house-made purple sweet potato tortilla.

Those who are a big fan of their sister haunt “Barrio Bonito” which was the former venue before the revamp into La Cocina, here’s good news for you. It is now back with a delivery service with a menu packed with scrumptious street-style Mexican staples. The Quesadillas are definitely must-try thanks to their stuffing of meaty sautéed mushroom mashed up with a bright avocado salsa which gives them a deliciously acidic contrast.
