Many hearts sing for a burrito when it comes to a hearty slash healthy-ish meal. But having lived here in Bangkok, the city where Mexican fare is yet to gain as much popularity as hamburgers and spaghetti, finding a good burrito can be a bit tricky. Roast BKK, however, has come to the rescue with its Grilled Pork Burrito (THB 360) where the tortilla wraps around golden-fried slices of pork tenderloin, cheddar cheese, Mexican red rice and avocado salsa. Creamy, meaty and salsa-y, here’s a meal that will hit all the right spots.
Don’t overlook the magical spell of fried chicken. Here at brassica bkk, the venue serves fried chicken in a way you may have never had before. Coated in a blend of 17 spices, the crispy, fried-to-order chicken yields a satisfying crunch as well as spice-packed flavours that will please your palates in the way MSG usually does (don’t fret, the fried chicken here is MSG-free).
Far-famed for its Chinese-style desserts like black sesame pudding and bubble tea milk pudding, Bahaotienmi is also a master in making drool-inducing toast. Here, this Salted Egg Lava Cream-stuffed Toast is obvious proof. Topped with dried shredded pork, the thick stuffed toast oozes out delicious creaminess that will make you keep coming back for its perfect interplay of salty and sweet flavours.

The Uni, Ikura and Ebi Platter (THB 882) will be the always-popular menu here at Izakaya Teppen. The Japanese haunt offers an array of rice bowls topped with seafood but this platter right here will always stay on the menu by popular demand. Grab a sheet of seaweed and layer the butter-like uni on it, followed by rice and salmon roe, which makes that all-in-one perfect bite for yourself. That’s how you get the most out of this platter.

Here’s a decadent chocolate dessert but not as you are familiar with. This summer, il Fumo presents to us its latest Viajante (Traveller in Portuguese) tasting menu (THB 2,800 for seven courses), showcasing Head Chef Amorim’ experiences aboard. Feast your eyes – and tummies – with The Elementos, which is his sleek chocolate dessert composed of Guanaja dark chocolate, olive oil and activated charcoal. Who would have thought cacao and charcoal will match perfectly like a band duo?

When Kasnäs a Little While with a pop up-themed menu started serving dishes after the change of seasons, people obviously loved popping by to see what they have on the menu. This time around, it’s salmon, so they are serving this toothsome goodness of Cured Salmon Toast (THB 250). The paper-thin cucumber and salmon slices are served atop a bed of spread and toasted sourdough.

This American wood-smoked barbecue house, Ash Kickers Briskets & Bourbon is serving an extensive selection of BBQ fare like beef brisket and all-from-scratch side dishes. But if you talk about the true meaty showstopper, it’s their Ash Kicker Combo (B1,360) which features big-fat slices of brisket, fat-specked spicy sausage, saucy wings and juicy pork belly. Want a super succulent meal with a side of happiness? By all means, get this one.
