At Izakaya Teppen BBQ & Sushi, the sashimi-driven outlet lets you style your own rice bowl with the “Omakase Mini Don” menu. In the dish pictured, atop a warm bed of rice is a medley of cubed salmon, tuna, and paper-thin sliced octopus. What makes it a unique eat is the sheet of edible gold leaf — very Instagrammable, too.

It’s not a good morning if it hasn’t been sweetened up with morning bun. At Brioche from Heaven, the butter-enriched dough gets smeared in a brown sugar and spice mixture before getting rolled into a swirl shape. Once baked, the bun is showered in a molasses-y syrup, creating a sticky, dewy, surface perfect for candied pecans to land on.
