One of the many things we love about Bangkok is that the city is never lacking of new trendy bars and drinking events to check out. From a new speakeasy backed by the some of the best mixologists in Asia to Negroni Week, there’s plenty of opportunities to knock back exquisite drinks. Here’s our hot picks of the month:
The Photo Booth
If you weren’t in-the-know already, the team behind The Locker Room is back with another hidden speakeasy — this time behind a photo booth. The four talented Asian mixologists, Ronnaporn ‘Neung’ Kanivichaporn of Thonglor’s award-winning Backstage Cocktail Bar, Hidetsugo Ueno from Bar High Five in Tokyo, Colin Chia from Nutmeg & Clove in Singapore and Nick Wu of Bar Mood Taipei are joining hands again to bring in some serious cocktails to add some class to the dance clubs and sports bars scene in Sukhumvit Soi 11. The drinks menu groups cocktails in pairs, so you can either play it safe with the classic versions or take the more adventurous Thai-inspired alternatives. The classic Air Mail is adapted into Bangrak, You’ve Got Mail, a blend of Captain Morgan Spiced Rum, Pampero Blanco, Moscato, homemade spiced mango honey, fresh lime and ginger ale, served with a letter attached to the glass stem. With a well-executed cocktail programme that stays true to old favourites and pays tribute to Thai ingredients at the same time, The Photo Booth is definitely more than just another gimmicky speakeasy bar concept.

When: 4–10 June
Taking place on 4–10 June 2018, the sixth edition of the alcoholic charity event, Negroni Week is a one-week global celebration of the classic cocktail, started by US-based drinks publication Imbibe Magazine and liquor label Campari in 2013. The launch party in Bangkok will be held at Park Hyatt’s Penthouse Bar + Grill on 4 June at 8–10pm, where proceeds of the event will be donated to The Foundation for the Deaf. The Kingdom has a total of 142 venues signed up this year, of which 76 are located in Bangkok. There will be an exciting lineup of events at a select Bangkok bar every night of the week, including Osito Unique Spanish, Vesper, Bunker, Rabbit Hole, Black Amber Social Club and Havana Social, each coming up with the best take on the classic concoction made of gin, Campari and vermouth — and will be donating part of the sales to their preferred charitable projects.
