This Thirsty Thursday, we’re in desperate need of a caffeine fix.
As more us are heading back to the office and businesses are starting to operate as before (under a new normal, no less), there’s no denying that a sense of ‘back to school after summer’ lies in the air.
The only difference is that we can legally drink vodka during the week now, and none of us got hotter over summer — only fatter. Thanks lockdown.
Thereby in an effort to brighten mornings and make them great again, we’ve put together a list of really charming mugs for your morning coffee (or tea or cocoa) this week. We’ve sussed out only the snazziest using our newly-found online shopping skills, and categorised them by Bangkok neighbourhood. Read on for the stereotypes of coffee sippers, from Thonburi to Phra Kanong — and take them all with a grain of salt, of course. Or a granule of sugar.

You live on the other side of the river because you’re a peaceful human being. Forever the optimist, this mug (THB 295) suits your sunshine soul. It is indeed going to be a good day — at least until you cross over into central Bangkok at rush hour.

A resident of the creative district, you like your morning coffee mug transparent and minimalistic — with an artful twist. Did you draw the woman that is depicted in the mug (THB 390)? Is she your lover? Is she your muse? Most likely to all those questions the answer is ‘yes.’
You are a little out of the ordinary (or dare we say it: upside down), but so freakin’ lovable. A hipster at heart and a trendsetter in many ways, this mug (THB 350) is the dose of quirkiness that gets you going every morning. You also add a little chocolate powder to your coffee. Life is short.
