One of the best qualities about Bangkok is that there’s always a slew of new speakeasies and buzzy bars to check out. Whether you’re looking for somewhere to drop by for a pre-party drink, or wanting the perfect cocktail bar for an evening hideaway, you’re never short of enticing options. But that also means picking one can be a daunting task, which is why we’ve made things easy for you by creating this column. Here, we’ll keep track of new drinks and drinking spots, so you’ll always be in the know about where to drink in Bangkok. And for a list of our favourite bars of the moment, look no further than our Hot 10.
We’re lucky enough to have plenty of herbs, aromatics and spices readily available here in Bangkok. Eat Me has now taken full advantage of that fact and released a series of Asian cocktails inspired by regional Thai recipes. For a refreshing sip, try the rum-based miang kham, which is infused with betel leaf, roasted coconut, shallot, ginger and lime. The lab moo is probably the most interesting of them all: With a fusion of roasted rice and serrano ham, the vodka concoction’s savoury touches are tempered by mint, shallots and cilantro. Drop by Eat Me any time after 3pm to drink your favourite Thai dishes.

Salon Du Japonisant
Forget all your cares at this newly opened bar featuring an extensive — and exquisite — selection of Japanese spirits. Tucked away on Sukhumvit 39, Salon Du Japonisant is nestled within a cosy shophouse reminiscent of those upstairs bars in Tokyo. Here, you’ll want to ensconce yourself in a comfy wicker armchair by the bar while you savour stylish sips from Japan. Opened by Bacchus Global — a celebrated spirits importer and distributor — the bar offers a lush array of Japanese whiskies, storied sake, rare shochu and sweet umeshu. Creating cocktails with Japanese spirits, the bartenders here urged us to try their Japanese mojito and sake margarita; the latter is a deliciously fragrant mixture of Ohmine junmai daiginjo, lychee, grapes of the Muscat family, lemon and homemade syrup.

A classic soda-based cocktail garnished with orange peel, the Socialite is a bittersweet blend of Absolut vodka, Campari and lime. Matcha lovers will want to order the Princess Jasmine: With a playful touch of matcha powder, the whisky drink is enhanced with sweet jasmine syrup and tangy lime juice.
