Danish luxury furniture brand Fritz Hansen has collaboraed with Nendo, Tokyo-based design studio to create the N01 chair (39,900 THB) — a combination of Japanese pure minimalism and Hansen’s woodworking technique. Dashing and practical, this design in the 2018 collection makes a stylish addition to any room.
So what makes this chair so special? The minimalist armchair is crafted with a mix of solid wood and nine layers of veneer available in natural oak, beech and black coloured oak. With 23 wooden pieces arranged by hand in perfect symmetry to form a clean-cut structure without a single screw or nail, the chair continues to exude Fritz Hansen’s impeccable craftsmanship and the aesthetics of Japanese design. With sturdy armrests and plenty of seat space, whether you are sitting back to read a book or just relaxing after a long day at work, this chair offers the perfect blend of style and comfort.
To officially kick off the collaboration, Oki Sato, the founder and chief designer of Nendo and Christian Anderson, head of design Fritz Hasen, were in town for the debut of the N01 chair at the House of Fritz Hansen Bangkok, where they personally presented the chair collection. The design vision, according to Sato, was for the N01 chair to exemplify “the strong link between Danish and Japanese design, that is the respect for a natural material such as wood and the craftsmanship related to that material itself.”
The event also saw several high-profile celebrities — including Dario Reicherl, Saowakon Pornpatanarak, Tachol Kajornmasabus, Vasu Virajsilp, and Veekrit Palarit. Click ahead to see photos from the launch party.
