Mindful Practices

Tea Meditation

What exactly is tea meditation? Inspired by the Japanese Zen tradition of a tea ceremony, the Chiang Mai resort’s Naturopath, Sudha Nair, leads a refreshing tea meditation session. Since drinking tea is a part of our daily routine for a lot of us, this meditation brings a focus to mindfulness for the entire experience. Think about that time between boiling the water to savouring the tea. Nair shares that this has been inspired by ‘ichigo ichi’ which means ‘one time, one meeting’. Simply come prepared with a pot of boiling water and a teacup of your favourite tea leaves for this session.

Forest Bathing

On the occasion of Global Wellness Day, the camp will be launching a forest bathing therapy. This therapy trail has been inspired by the jungles at the ancient Golden Triangle. Toby Emmer, the Camp Manager at Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle suggests that “nature is a good medicine and being one with nature in times like these allows us to take our thoughts away from the daily routine.” For the very first time, the resort will transport us to the mighty jungle setting with a serene atmosphere of bamboo jungles for a relaxing mindful practice through a live broadcast.

Kitchen Secrets

Here’s a sneak peek of the Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai’s exciting new plant-based menus that will soon be launched. The resort’s Executive Chef Liam Nealon shares, “I would be lying if I don’t say I have days when I crave the typical ‘junk food’ — a plant-based burger is my go-to on such days!” Demonstrating his favourite recipes, Chef Liam introduces us to the Beetroot Burger with Hummus that is a light meal for those desiring to achieve optimal weight and are craving for a wholesome plate.

Meanwhile, if you are craving some ocean-fresh seafood, then the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui’s extensive menus bring a myriad of fresh catch. Chef de Cuisine Ivo Benidio has jazzed up some healthy recipes, while Jon Curiel, Director of Restaurants, introduces his expertise in drinks. Jon suggests, “I call it TPC Aloe — very low sugar content to avoid undesirable insulin spikes and combines diuretic properties with antioxidants and electrolytes.” Want to know what goes into the drink? Tune in to this virtual session.

Visiting Masters

The resort has built a deep connection with healing experts from all around the world who visit, and offer guests a truly immersive well-being experience. Four Seasons’ most popular visiting experts, Reiki practitioner Shaylini Somani, will be conducting a healing and meditation session. What will the session involve? Going through some breath work and guided meditation to relieve your daily stress, this healing session will allow you to keep the focus on your present. “Distance healing can work in wonderful ways – from clearing deep-rooted energy blocks to achieving peace and cleansing across spaces and geographies,” suggests Somani.

We’ve also got Kundalini Yoga, meditation, and healing specialist — Paramjot Singh Khalsa and Evelyn Wörz — to guide us through a session that will help us overcome all the stress, anxiety, and fear taking a toll. In difficult times of adjusting to the ‘new normal’, meditation and yoga can work wonders.

What will you get out of this session?

Holistic Health Practitioner Carol Kandell has conducted this online series based on the Neuro-Linguistic Programming techniques (NLP) that focuses on conscious awareness of thoughts and the power of mindfulness. Having negative thoughts, whether conscious or unconscious thoughts, is actually very destructive to our cells, leading to emotional breakdowns. During the workshop, participants can discuss how and why people complain to understand the roots of the problem. This allows for bringing change to our habits in a more playful way.
