Spa Review: Pañpuri Wellness, where everything that touches you is organic

You know you’ve hit a jackpot when a wellness establishment offers all you could want and need in one space: wellness treatments, spa treatments, movement classes, organic food and beverage and onsens, as well as other mineral-rich hydrothermal facilities. And a simple step into Pañpuri Wellness will confirm you’re in the right place, that life is in fact good, as you’ll be instantly enamored by the establishment’s panoramic views of Bangkok, the same city you were just moments ago trying to escape.

Walking in to Pañpuri Wellness

In the age of community malls and mixed-use projects, gone are the days when you have to travel long distances from one place to the next. Convenience and accessibility tie in together seamlessly when you put everything in one place and Pañpuri Wellness really thought things through with this one. Think about it, with Bangkok traffic, and with your ‘wellness’ in mind, do you really want to spend 2 hours travelling from your yoga class just to make it to your spa treatment or onsen session?

A quiet room for silent meditations

That’s what we love about Pañpuri Wellness, the one-stop haven for all things wellness, headed up by Pañpuri, a leading wellness brand of Asia used by top hotels such as the Park Hyatt. This most recent addition to the Panpuri family is strategically positioned in the beating heart of Bangkok: Ratchaprasong. It doesn’t get more convenient than that. The district is a permanent fixture for all Bangkokians, either being close to home, work, or all the things they hold dear, namely shopping, dining and luxury living.

Everything that touches you is organic

What we like so much about Pañpuri Wellness is its opening proposition: that upon entering, “everything that touches you is organic”, from the robes you wear, to the slippers you walk in, the juices you drink, the food you eat and even the towels, the sheets and fresh fruit you eat, all of which are selected for their organic properties. And you know how hard it is to go truly organic in Thailand, so this is a truly unique selling point.

A suite with a private onsen

Our recommendation

If you’re anything like us, you’ll probably want to book a private suite (either Vitality Suite or Tranquility Suite) so you can have the onsen all to yourself, or with your plus however many. Guests also have the option of using five male/female onsen pools which include the signature Kusatsu Onsen, Soda Pool, Vitality Pool, Cold Plunge Pool and Seasonal Onsen. The suites – recommended for booking at least 3 days in advance – both feature a private onsen and double bed, providing space for you and company to relax in a more private setting, soaking in the warm onsen while overlooking the Bangkok city skyline.

Onsen with a view

Opt for a signature massage after you soak in the onsen, a house favourite that combines Swedish and Thai massage techniques, drawing influences from the trainings of Dr. Aaron Bullington, a practitioner of the healing arts since 2001. When designing its tailor-made wellness programmes, Panpuri often collaborates with Dr. Bullington who holds degrees in both Western and Eastern medicine, specializing in holistic health, mind-body medicine, pain management, structural integration, nutrition, detoxification and chronic disease.

Begin with an Organic Vitality Boost, comprised of fingerroot, honey and lime, all of which are organic.

If you are visiting the public onsen, be sure to soak in the different onsen pools, followed by a stay in the steam room, Himalayan salt sauna and onsen relaxation room for added benefits of improving blood circulation and reducing inflammation. A session using Akasuri body scrub room removes dead skin cells and purifies pores, leaving the skin freshly smooth and glowing.

If you’re looking for a wellness enhancer, try the Pañpuri Signature Mind & Body Revitalizing Retreat. This is a 240-minute spa experience that begins with a soak in the private onsen, followed by an organic body scrub, a Pañpui Signature Massage and a Lotus Defense Skin Radiance Facial.

Personal wellness experiences

Following a consultation, every wellness programme can be tailor-made for each individual and, in harmony with Dr. Bullington’s therapeutic approach that focuses on treating each individual as a whole, a more holistic and naturopathic approach is taken to wellness. Designed to enrich sleep, manage stress and fatigue and minimize the impacts from urban pollution, the wellness programmes at Panpuri Wellness combine spa treatments, wellness movement classes – including Tai Chi, Yogilates, Piloxing, HIIT, Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga and Pilates – and 1-day, 3-day, 5-day and 7-day onsen experiences for holistic rejuvenation.

The great thing about Panpuri Wellness is its convenience and accessibility; if you really want, you can just drop in for a yoga class after your shopping spree and leave it at that. The wellness studio also hosts holistic meditation and wellness talks in case you need to take a moment to balance and re-centre yourself.

Finish off with food

If you’re hungry after your spa session, be sure to try out the wellness bar, which offers natural and organic food and beverages in the way of smoothies and small bites. One of the limitations of setting out to be all organic in Bangkok is that you realise how difficult it is, so just be warned that this is more of a snack option as opposed to a full-on meal. We’ll let you know if that changes.

Always end with a little snack.
