Let’s face it: health food isn’t the most exciting thing in the world. No matter how much of a fitness guru or supermodel you are, it can be very easy to get bored of eating the same salads, steamed tofu, and cold-pressed juices every day. When you’ve got that as your permanent menu, starting a healthy diet is always going to be doomed for failure. You’ll be sick of healthy eating within a day, and — we’ll be honest — your friends will probably stop having dinner with you. If this is healthy eating, then it’s just never going to work.

But the solution is surprisingly simple. All we need to do is make healthy eating as fun, social, and varied as they way any food should be enjoyed. Meeting with Beanbag snacks for a healthy meals workshop, we were introduced to a whole new dimension to clean eating and discovered that healthy foods can actually be quite delicious and a lot of fun. Here we share all the secrets to enjoying a healthy diet for the long-run.

Make it exciting

“I’ll be honest: it all began when I wanted to lose some weight”, Nichapat Srimanotham, the co-founder of Beanbag tells us. “I went to the supermarket to find snacks which were healthy but also enjoyable to eat. I couldn’t find anything that covered both categories.” One of the most popular health snacks are nuts and dried fruits, but Nichapat still had trouble finding brands that were actually good for you. “It was so hard to find nuts in Bangkok that weren’t full of artificial flavours, harmful oils, or excessive salt. And the alternatives were completely unflavoured peanuts that tasted absolutely boring”.

It was from this that Nichapat realised the fundamental problem in sticking to a healthy diet was. If it’s boring, you’ll stop doing it. She decided to set out and make her own healthy and exciting snacks to motivate a long-term clean diet. Beanbag snacks was born. After about 200 trials to get to the final recipe, Nichapat created her own product line of healthy flavoured nuts.

“The goal is to make healthy eating more fun, varied, and exciting”, says Nichapat. From Beanbag, you can choose from four flavours of organic mixed nuts: a classic unsalted flavour, vanilla and lavender, hot chocolate, and barbecue. Even though none of them contain any chemicals or additives, each taste indulgently good — like snacks you would actually buy for the taste rather than the health benefits. It’s a sure way to persuade you to choose this healthy alternative to Lays or Pocky.

Make it yourself

“I’m not a chef at all. I just tried out these recipes in my own kitchen using ingredients I sourced personally. The best kinds of food are made in our own homes anyway, not in some laboratory. My top tip for healthy eating? Make your own food.” Beanbag nuts are sourced from 16 countries around the world, chosen for their quality not price, and are all oven-baked without chemicals, MSG, and other additives. To sweeten them, Nichapat uses organic coconut and brown sugar which contains a low glycemic index.

Make it easy

The healthy foods market is growing every year. But with every year that passes, people are also getting busier and busier, leaving less time to feed ourselves properly. To suit modern lifestyles, Beanbag also offers another product category for Organic Superfood Powder. These are concentrated grounded superfoods without any chemicals, synthetic substances or genetic engineering. They come in travel-friendly shots and have 15 variants depending on your needs (immunity boosting, improving digestion etc.). What’s really great about these is how easy and quick they are to use. All you need to do is tear open a packet and stir it into your smoothies, yoghurts, spreads, or even just plain water.

Make it pretty

But the best part of Beanbag’s Organic Superfood Powders are their amazing colours. At a workshop with Beanbag, we learnt lots of ways to incorporate the fantastic colours of the superfood powders into our everyday food —making them way more fun and exciting to eat. You could mix the Acai Powder into cream cheese for a gorgeously pink healthy spread, or stir the Spirulina Powder into yoghurt to make a green canvas for your morning granola. Getting creative and taking pride in your food will definitely motivate you to keep sticking to a healthy diet.
