Already present in over double the number of Bangkok fitness studios as its, dare we say it, nemesis, ClassPass connects users with thousands of fitness studios not only in Bangkok, but globally, meaning that any trip to London, Paris or New York will of course give members instant access to even more workout classes. Operating on a credit-based system which you pay for monthly at a somewhat cheaper price that guarantees you up to and even over 30 classes. We decided to go all out with ClassPass and tried a large number of the classes to see which ones we liked the most, because we’re just that devoted to making 2019 a healthier and happier year all round. Read ahead for our 10 favourite classes on ClassPass that are guaranteed to make exercising more exciting and less boring in 2019.
bungeeWorkout, Stories to Tales Theatre
Always dreamt of gracefully flying in the air but didn’t want to do it jumping out of a moving plane or during a bungee jump? Well, bungeeWorkout is just the thing for you. Suitable for beginners, the next to art form is a fusion of acrobatic movements inspired by circus acts and choreographed dance routines to the tune of upbeat music that will get that booty moving, swinging and flying too. This low impact, high intensity, resistance cardio workout will get your heart pumping, and your thighs super sweaty (mostly because you have to wear these very special pants that clip onto the bungee rope. Sexy!)

Ride Beats, Ommo Studios
Lovers of soul cycle will appreciate this if they haven’t tried it already. Yeah, it feels a bit like you’re in a nightclub, riding a bike of all things, and even when your feet are clipped on to the pedals (with special shoes) sometimes you can get so into it that you feel like you could fly off at any moment. Combining movement and pseudo dance moves with hardcore pedalling and heavy head-banging, the best thing about this class is not the amount of calories you burn – or how much your body aches the next day – but the music that you ride to. For some reason, heavy trap and hip hop go really well with this exercise.
Ride 45, TribeBKK
Have you found your tribe yet? Well, if not, you could very well find it here. The studio’s signature super high intensity cycle will not only get your heart pumping but will make you feel like you are riding with a group of like-minded community folk committed to having one heck of a heart pumping, body sculpting and soul energising ride. The best thing? The ride classes often feature some of Bangkok’s favourite DJs who attend the class to play live, especially for you, the savvy cycler. FUN!
Hot Pilates Sculpt, Pilates Plus Bangkok
Pilates lovers will delight in trying out the only hot pilates class in the whole of Bangkok. Although not for the faint hearted, Pilates Plus Bangkok’s hot pilates session will gift you with all the regular benefits of pilates, but with an added dimension of course – HEAT! This means more sweat, a trimmer you and absolutely glowing skin, if you attend enough classes that is. A must-try, but do remember to keep hydrated!

(YOB) Basic Flow, SURF BKK
Whoever thought up doing yoga movements on a board was extremely creative and an all round genius. If you can picture it, this is exactly what the class is, minus the ocean (or pavement, as this could easily be mistaken for a skateboard too) although if you get good and balanced enough, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t try doing it on water; we highly recommend not doing on a rolling skateboard though. Uniting movement with breath and a sense of balance, just as you would do in yoga, the session allows you to build up your core strength while flowing through movement and releasing all that BS. Just like yoga, modifications make this an accessible all-level class.
AquaBiking, AquaBiking Bangkok
Well, you might not be able to walk on water, but you can certainly ride on, or in, water if you attend AquaBiking. This surprisingly fun class will have you working out hardcore at a high intensity but the best thing is, because you’re riding in water, the sensation of intensity is decreased, meaning you ride twice as hard without feeling it. We were shocked when we found out we could sweat in water. The class boosts weight loss but it is also said to erase cellulite and orange peel, while toning up muscle mass. Another great thing? You don’t need to wear a helmet!

Gym Time & Pool Time, InBalance Fitness
Okay, so whoever thought up this class is also a genius. Especially good news for those who don’t have access to a gym, this one right here is located at the Novotel Bangkok on Siam Square and has all the usuals you would require for gym time, i.e exercise machines for cardio and strength training along with an adequate selection of free weights and yoga equipment. So once you have your gym session out of the way, go straight on out and chill by the pool, maybe do a couple of laps or maybe just sunbathe like the god or goddess that you are. If you’re really about doing an actual class, there are a selection of fitness classes every night to choose from. Saunas also available.
Bellydance, BellySister Bellydance Studio
You know you’ve always wanted to learn how to bellydance and perhaps 2019 might just be your year. Learn from the best at a studio specifically dedicated to the traditional dance form that has been carving out beautiful waistlines for centuries. With dedication, you’ll be able to progress from intermediate to advanced in no-time, and have dramatic curves to show for it. The instructors here know exactly what they’re doing and will guide you into some hip moves you never knew you had.

Yoga Fly / Aerial Yoga, Three Studio
You may have heard yourself or someone else singing ‘I believe I can fly’ at least several times in your lifetime, but did you ever hear anyone say ‘I believe I can yoga fly’? Realistically, the latter is looking a lot more likely to happen. This incredible workout will not only make you realise how nice it is to seemingly float on air – or, alternatively, how inflexible you are – but it will also make for some gorgeous Instagram photos. Or very funny Instagram stories. Seriously worth it though!
Casual Jump Session, AMPED Trampoline Park Thailand,
‘Jump up, get down, pick a fight with gravity!’. Why not? Life is so much better on a trampoline and the amount of calories you burn is unbelievable considering the amount of fun you’re having. And no, you’re not just jumping on one trampoline – although you can if you like – but you’re also bouncing from trampoline to trampoline, making silly moves and getting rid of all that pent-up energy you built up during deadlines, rush hours and sitting in traffic. You can jump for a whole hour. Really fun and super good for the soul, but not so ideal for the knees.
