5 cat eye sunglasses for the fierce female this season

Sun’s out, cat-eye sunglasses out.

As temperatures start to soar out in Bangkok city, there’s no denying that a good pair of sunglasses is an undying essential for the urbanite with style.

But this summer is a bit different.

This summer there are extra factors to consider, given that a global pandemic has had considerable effect not only on our daily lives but also on our style. It comes with both perks and quirks, as sunglasses can provide an extra protective layer from potential bacteria spread through the air, yet also provide a bit of a fashion challenge. How do I pair sunglasses with a face mask

It’s always safe (no ill puns intended) to bank on the classics, which is why we’ve decided to go with a style of sunglasses that is known to be universally flattering — or at least, universally bold.

From neon rims to crystal embellishments, scroll ahead for some of our favourite cat-eye sunglasses of the minute. A fierce look for any fashionista to rock in the heat. Meow.

Nothing quite brings the drama like a pair of sunglasses by this Italian luxury powerhouse. Gucci has many a selection for cat-eye sunglasses, yet we love this classic pair (approx. THB 12,669) featuring gold tone accents on the slim arms. Detailed with enamel inlays, the sunglasses boast the house’s iconic GG monogram, pairing beautifully with the velvet case they come in. Very dolce vita.

There’s something very retro about tortoiseshell, and it really comes to shine here in these Miu Miu Eyewear cat-eye sunglasses (approx. THB 8669). With a subtle logo at the temples, the small crystal embellishments add a very playful touch to the look, almost like a flirty bat of eyelashes.

Very cool, very Saint Laurent: meet the Dylan cat-eye sunglasses (approx. THB 9770). Featuring a sleek silver tone, the narrow silhouette converts the traditionally feline shape into something more of a butterfly — almost. Featuring thick rims and a discrete logo stamp on each arm, there’s an air of that urban chic aesthetic we really love about this pair.

There’s nothing like a bit of neon to jazz up an outfit. And as it turns out, this applies to cat-eye sunglasses, too. Enter this pair of Fendi sunglasses (approx. THB 9239) bringing a street-style flair front, right, and centre. Featuring the label’s infamous FF monogram, the tortoiseshell sunglasses are inlaid with neon-green trims for an angular cat-eye frame. A must-have especially for those with round or heart-shaped faces to bring a real je ne sais quois to your look.

Granted, Paula’s Ibiza collection is getting a lot of the hype over at Loewe, but they make a sweet enlarged cat-eye that is equally apt for equally chic Spanish beach vacations (or Hua Hin beach vacations), too. Branded with the iconic Anagram logo at the temples, the sunglasses (approx. THB 9403) come in smoked white acetate with contrasting dark lenses. Nicely matched with leather and basket accessories, it’s a great fit for square and heart-shaped faces.
