5 concept stores to check out at Siam Discovery

Glimmering chandeliers, open spaces and futuristic interiors welcome the shopper to the newly renovated Siam Discovery at Siam Square.

A whole new retail concept for Thailand, the revamped, gleaming shopping mall, taking one year and four billion baht to complete, bears a strong resemblance to Tokyo’s ultramodern department stores, a hybrid between a shopping center and department store to give a distinctly different experience from online shopping. Acclaimed designer Oki Sato of Nendo Studio from Japan was behind the reimagining of this shopping mall, which is not only the city’s biggest hub for cutting-edge Asian design but also sees the debut of several new concept stores.

The collection has been handpicked for its unique use of materials, production and design concepts. Celebrate design and enhance your lifestyle with items that reflect your unique self.

World of Issey Miyake

Siam Discovery

The Issey Miyake concept store at Siam Discovery represents the brand’s first concept store in Thailand, not to mention outside Japan. Called the World of Issey Miyake, the 500 square-meter duplex space offers the full line of products. Conceived by Tokujin Yoshioka, who also designed their stores in London and Tokyo, the store at Siam Discovery carries that unmistakable combination of modern and casual, where all the focus is on the clothing – presented in fixtures that appear to be floating in mid-air. In addition to their men’s and women’s collections, products from their other familiar brands are also available, including Issey Miyake, Pleats Please Issey Miyake, Homme Plisse Issey Miyake, me Issey Miyake, Bao Bao Issey Miyake and 132.5 Issey Miyake. The store provides shoppers with that signature Issey Miyake experience, where products have been created through experimentation and research and by reimagining the relationship between the human body and clothing.
