New York Fashion Week is officially upon us, and with a growing number of designers from Proenza Schouler, Altuzarra, Thom Browne to Rodarte leaving to host their presentations in Paris, and others opting out from the traditional fashion calendar, it is getting rather tricky to keep track of all the new changes going on at Fashion Week, especially for the New York shows. Bottega Veneta is moving its co-ed fashion show from Milan to New York this season to coincide with the opening of its Madison Avenue store. With Tomas Maiser‘s more youthful creative approach in recent seasons, we think the brand will fit right in with this temporary visit to the Big Apple.

It’s been only three months since Harvey Weinstein — now-estranged husband of Marchesa‘s co-founder Georgina Chapman — hit headlines with a sexual harassment scandal, and it appears that Chapman is (understandably) still suffering from the aftermath of it all. She’s recently announced her decision to forgo her planned runway show on 14 February, and will instead, debut the latest collection in a digital format.

There’s been rising concerns regarding the mistreatment of models following incidents including abuse during castings and reports of sexual misconduct and assault against fashion photographers, and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) is working to take extra steps in protecting the models and their welfare. Other than issuing a list of safety recommendations for industry professionals ahead of NYFW, the council has also recently announced its partnership with Model Alliance to provide private changing areas backstage.

Alexander Wang has announced his plans to break away from the conventional fashion calendar after his Fall/Winter 2018 runway presentation this month. Instead, he will present his collections (along with his much-loved #WangFest) in New York in June and December, so as to align more closely with the pre-collection schedule.

On 8 February, these 10 style stars will each style and model a look from the collection, and share it on their respective Instagram accounts for the internet to see.
