New year, new perspectives.
Raise your hand if you’ve used the #2020vision joke already this year. Yes, just as we thought. But there’s something in this (somewhat overused) pun that makes us feel it really is the perfect time to see things in new ways. True, the new year is a time for fresh outlooks and looking forward, but we’re also talking more literally here: there’s no better time to get a fresh new pair of specs.
The end of last year saw some great new eyewear stores in Bangkok, and the latest collections are dropping in as we speak. So, let’s sharpen up our vision and live up to the name of the year 2020. Here are the best eyewear stores in Bangkok that’ll be perfect for the task.

…for cutting edge style and high-tech craftsmanship.
One of the latest additions to the new Velaa Sindhorn Langsuan complex, the Mykita store is a calming minimalist room that looks sort of like a high-tech laboratory. With its cutting-edge styles, innovative materials, and futuristic store design, it’s absolutely what we mean by #2020vision. Come here for the latest trends in eyewear, a relaxing browsing experience, and consistent brand service.
Mykita. Velaa Sindhorn Village Velaa, Soi Lang Suan, Bangkok 10330 (Open daily 11am-8pm). Tel: 0846599824.
…for the best luxury range.
They may carry one of the largest ranges of international eyewear brands, but Niche is actually very selective when it comes to choosing which styles and labels to stock. They look not only for the best quality but also the hottest trends, carrying brands such as Thom Browne, Cutler & Gross, Victoria Beckham, and Oliver Peoples. It’s definitely one of the largest luxury ranges out of all eyewear stores in Bangkok.
Niche Nation. 2/F Central Embassy, Ploen Chit Road, Bangkok 10330. (Open daily: 10am-9pm). Tel: 02 160 5825.
…for great customer experience.
Strolling along the endless rows of glasses and sunglasses here is almost like walking around a park. The store is large, with over-hanging plants, and has some very friendly staff members who are enthusiastic to help you. If you’re just browsing, you’re entirely free to try on different styles on your own too.
Owndays. 1/F Gaysorn Tower, Rachadamri Road, Bangkok 10330. (Open daily 10am-8.30pm). Tel: 02-253-8488.
…for something unique and collectable.
There’s a reason why you’ll find Eyesmyth in some of Bangkok’s most artsy and hipster locations. Whether at the BACC or Lido Connect, you’ll find vintage or vintage-style pairs of glasses and sunglasses that are unique and sure to give you a special edge. All their pairs are handmade, giving them that extra feel of luxury.
Eyesmyth. 3/F Bangkok Art and Culture Center (BACC), Rama I Road, Bangkok 10330. (Tues-Sun 10am-8pm). Tel: 082 664 9956. 1/F Lido Connect, Siam Square, Bangkok 10330. (Open daily 10.30am-9pm). Tel: 082 664 9956.
The Roseman Club
…for cool, timeless style.
The two founders of The Roseman Club started their independent brand from a passion for vintage furniture. Their eyewear take on the same features of being aesthetically pleasing, durable, and practical. There’s close attention in every detail with their glasses, from the luxurious cases to the sturdy hinge screws. Styles here strike the difficult balance of retro, trendy, and yet still timeless.
The Roseman Club. 1/F Gaysorn Village, Rachadamri Road, Bangkok 10330. (Open daily 10am-9pm). Tel: 081 444 2642.
…for a local hidden gem.
In one of the many alleys of Siam Square is Na Noi’s. It’s the go-to optician’s for any Bangkokian who’s with it, and that’s largely to do with the man himself. “Uncle Noi” is something of a genius when it comes to optics, memorising every face and precise prescription that goes with it. His selection of glasses and sunglasses are more limited than the larger eyewear stores, but he’s happy for you to bring in any pair to get them prescribed with him. He’ll then tell you to go walk around for an hour, which is all the time he takes to have your glasses adjusted to perfection.
Na Noi. 262/3 Siam Square Soi 3, Bangkok 10330. (Open daily 11.30am-8.30pm). Tel: 097 194 0745.
