Fall for Salvatore Ferragamo’s new ready-to-wear collection

Salvatore Ferragamo may be beloved for its shoes, but its clothing collections are not to be overlooked. The brand’s fall/winter 2017 collection draws upon the label’s heritage while simultaneously introducing a new, innovative edge. Reinterpreting femininity, Ferragamo showcases a series of day and evening looks imbued with elegance and dynamism.

Simple, sophisticated and versatile, the  features plenty of new shapes in different garments. For example, there are oversized collars and hoods in intriguing shapes, which are designed to frame the face proportionally. There are also sleeves which can be effortlessly converted into stylish scarves to be worn separately, and to create new dimensions in your daily outfits. During the runway presentation, the fall/winter looks were accessorised with platform boots, adding height to the chic, elongated styles.

We love Ferragamo’s high-waisted styles, which perfectly define outlined elegance. The sophisticated silhouettes are fitted but not corset-tight, allowing plenty of movement without sacrificing great panache. Sleek turtlenecks, slit skirts and leather touches also make a prominent appearance in this new collection. The looks are designed to highlight lean, elongated lines, and complement its series of fine knit sweaters. In this collection, there’s a balance of architectural shapes and soft, comfortable knitted elements.

The brand has also introduced a palette of cool colours — pale lilac, delicate turquoise and royal navy — and injected pink fuchsia and iridescent pearl touches to create chromatic combinations. Aside from classic hues and eye-popping shades, the collection also features a patchwork of fabrics. Ferragamo has always been at the forefront in experimenting with different textures and patterns, and we can definitely appreciate its creative approach this season. For instance, a mixed-print lavender dress flawlessly showcases the use of abstracted animal patterns.

The new collection also reinterprets some classic designs from the past, and we can see this in its Column and Opanca heels, lug soles and vertical courts. The debut of structural heels is also an interesting element in this collection, adding a conventional twist to everyday winter outfits.

The iconic Soft Sofina tote bag, meanwhile, has been reintroduced in new colours and exotic leathers, and the Thalia Gancio clutch bag also boasts new shades. Ferragamo also showcases a series of violet and mauve-coloured crocodile clutches for this fall season, seamlessly in sync with the refined, urban modernity that the collection represents.
