Kenzo gave Vans a floral makeover and here’s why we love it

Sneakerheads, Kenzo just gave your Vans a new tropical look.

If you’ve been scrolling your social media feed and can’t take your eyes off the gorgeous floral Vans collection, then you’re’ in luck. The Kenzo x Vans capsule collection has officially dropped and is now available this Spring 2020.

Kenzo partnered up with the iconic skate brand Vans to curate a new footwear collaboration. Our first impression? The vivid, all-over floral prints taken from the Kenzo archives have been wrapped around the legendary Vans Sk80Hi, high-top sneaker, and the Old-Skool editions — giving the streetwear a little twist. Also, the iconic and classic Vans Sidestripe low-top sneaker has been revamped for this collection so we’re blending in with the tropical season.

Whilst the focus has largely been on sneakers, the two cool brands have also launched a full capsule collection with 46 ready-to-wear pieces and accessories designed by Felipe Oliveira Baptista — and, it happens to be his first capsule collection for the Maison. Very dynamic. Very youthful.

Expect to see bob hats, baseball caps, backpacks, bags, and jerseys that are made with 100% organic cotton.

We wouldn’t be surprised if this was to be the next ideal summer wear for millennials because it’s giving us the ‘we are the cool kids’ vibe. The collection comes in three different prints — for men’s and women’s — and the sharp cuts give it a sporty comfy look just right for every occasion.

In this video, we see Ari Marcopoulos capturing seven real skaters and friends in Los Angeles including Tre’Veon Ladson, Tyron Watts, Vincent Nava, Omoye Brown, Surish Singh, David Branom and Rebecca L’Amore. Keeping the Californian vibe on with the backdrop, the campaign gives an insight into their everyday lives while they flaunt the vibrant pieces from the capsule collection.

Kenzo x The Skater Room

Keeping up with the hype and complementing the tropical capsule collection, KENZO also created an exclusive lifestyle item in collaboration with The Skateroom — a Kenzo skateboard art edition. Even if you are not a skater, you might feel the urge to learn now just to get into the summer vibe.

The Skateroom project is uniting all the artists, galleries, museums, foundations, and non-profits around the world to promote a new concept ‘Art for Social Impact.’ The Skateroom challenges the consumers to turn into active contributors in socially engaged projects and places works of art on responsibly made skateboards. KENZO will be partnering up with The Skateroom to launch an exclusive edition that will feature the archival Gardenia print. All of the profits will be donated to a social skateproject to empower at-risk youth in Jamaica.

To ensure you are keeping up with the jam, KENZO X VANS has created a playlist by Ari Marcopoulos on Spotify. Are you vibing too? Listen to the playlist while you do some online shopping at KENZO.
