Just as the autumn wind does to its leaves, the Paul Smith‘s Autumn/ Winter 2018 runway blew us away. Inspired by the world of dreams, its latest men’s collection is a force to be reckoned with, drawing influences of psychedelic illustrations from the famous book by French artist Edmund Dulac – The Dreamer of Dreams – giving viewers ample visuals to talk about.
“I think in a world that’s so troubled, how nice it is to have a print that takes you into this different world”, said Paul Smith, the founder and creative designer of the eponymous brand.
With a spectrum of vivid colour palettes that offer a sense of positivity, Paul Smith infuses intricate hand-painted artworks and classic silhouettes with a wild twist into its latest designs, featuring various animals including frogs, beetles, snails and leopards. Bright and bold, the seasonal motifs are fully saturated in all its glory.
Crafted from high-quality Italian lambskin, the leather jacket was one of the highlight pieces from the collection, with a vintage biker silhouette and a ‘Dreamer’ stamp at the back. Its knitwear line is also worth a closer look, with sensual strokes and colourful twirls which also pay tribute to the iconic dreamscape emblem.
For handbags, the British fashion house presented a range of three distinctive shapes – all painted in kaleidoscopic graphics – including a classic rucksack with air-tech back panels, a large holiday bag with a tool-box silhouette and a small hip pack that can be worn two ways as a belt-bag or bandolier style.
Other key accessories come in the form of multi-coloured scarves and small leather goods. Throughout the entire collection, the Dreamer prints are brought into the spotlight, striking whimsical effects in each category, from apparel to accessories.
The Dreamer collection is now available at all of Paul Smith Thailand’s boutiques.
