8 jumpsuits to bring #PowerWoman energy to your next meeting

Two separate pieces of clothing? Ain’t no power woman got time for that.

We’ve long loved jumpsuits for their ease of wearing, especially on days when picking a matching top and a bottom seems like too tedious a task. Yet whilst Mark Zuckerberg’s infamous ideal of simply wearing the same t-shirt every day has some sense to it, the fashionista in us just couldn’t allow it.

Enter: the jumpsuit.

Whilst the jumpsuit and the playsuit often get the short end of the stick by being grouped into resort wear — or worse, baby clothing — there is actually something incredibly elegant about it. It’s less formal than a gown yet is still on the same level of serious. It’s dressy but it’s not overly demanding. And there’s something about the flow of material that allows for a lot of feminine shaping and draping.

All in all, the jumpsuit is a powerful look. For all the power women out there, here are 8 of our current favourites.

Is there anything more elegant than a stole collar? We’re utterly obsessed with this one by Asava, which features a tie-neck atop a one-shoulder sleeveless jumpsuit. Featuring side pockets (side pockets are very important), this ensemble has a very relaxed fit, yet still brings the #drama when you throw the stole over your shoulder and leave the meeting room.

We’re seeing the loungewear trend carry on into 2021, and this means that silk and satin materials continue as leading fabrics. To look a little bit more Boardroom and a bit less Bedroom, we like this Pomelo Belted Jumpsuit, featuring a belt to accentuate the waist. The buttoned cuffs are a nice touch, as well as the straight fit down the leg, for a playful yet sophisticated look.

You can wear a jumpsuit to events too, you know. This Talbot Runhof jumpsuit is a prime exemplar. We’re loving the bold colour on this number, cut from raspberry crepe and shaped such that your hourglass silhouette really comes to shine. It features an elegant one-shoulder neckline with a sweeping cape that sways and flows as you walk into any venue. You have arrived: let it be known.

Forget cold shoulders; opt for feathery shoulders instead. Exclusive to Net-a-Porter, this 16ARLINGTON jumpsuit features wispy feathers on the shoulders for an added touch of glamour. The jumpsuit itself is made from black velvet, and is knotted at the neckline. We haven’t seen many designs like this one, and its uniqueness is exactly what we love about it. The floor-sweeping legs also go very well with any particularly high heels you’ve been meaning to show off.

For a jumpsuit that goes well with your day-to-day schedule, this Gucci number hits all the right notes. Turning to the 1970s for inspiration, the short-sleeved jumpsuit manages to look both classic and contemporary at the same time. We like the navy wool and silk-blend cady material, as well as the cargo-style zipped pockets.

For an alfresco lunch meeting or any other summery affair, a white jumpsuit always looks sleek and sophisticated. This Paneled Crepe Jumpsuit by Galvan features a wide-leg silhouette and has a notched bodice (and low back!) for a very feminine touch. Granted, it was designed as part of Galvan’s bridal capsule, but that doesn’t mean you can’t rock it to other occasions, too.

A pinstripe on a suit is traditional office attire. A pinstripe on a jumpsuit is 2021 power woman attire. Featuring the timeless design in gold on velvet, Vatanika brings the glam with this jumpsuit that comes in at the waist for a goddess-like appeal. Wear it to your evening soirees and bring out that allure. You’ve already got the right outfit to suit.
