‘Tis the season to wear the most striking colours of them all: red, gold, and green.
We’re approaching the very heart of the festive period, and as our calendars begin to fill up with brunches, lunches, and various evening soirees, there’s no denying that we’re spending a lot more time inside our closet, too.
Yet perhaps more than during any other time of the year, the dresscode is quite clear: dress like Santa, dress like a Christmas tree, or dress like an ornament.
We put it really bluntly there, but you get the gist.
Here, we’ve put together some of our favourite pieces in red, gold, and green, touching on the traditional but revamping it for 2020. Whether you’re heading to the beach or to a city rooftop this month, these looks will have you sorted.

Here’s one that could work well both for a festive brunch of a celebratory dinner. We love off-the-shoulder pieces for the festive season, and this Johanna Ortiz number provides just the right amount of versatility to see you through the season. The sleeves are removable, meaning that you can take them off for day or night, as the the red crinkled-crepe actually conceals a fitted bodice so your figure always looks fantastic. Paired with flats or pumps, it’s definitely made for the busy bee with style.

How cute this this Chloé C Mini bag? Whether you want to carry it yourself or gift it to your best friend, Natacha Ramsay’s design is perfect to fit just about all your essentials, and features the signature ‘C’ atop the forest-green croc-effect leather. Paired with matching gold jewellery, it’s definitely a very on-trend way to wear green and gold.

Alice + Olivia know you’re going to a lot of parties this season. Alice + Olivia understand. Made from metallic brocade that has been woven with a baroque pattern, we love the floral geometric motif on this dress. It is designed in a slim silhouette with extremely skinny straps, sensually drawing the eye to the collar bone. Whether you go down the classic route and pair with heels, or the more millennial route and pair with sneakers, it’s definitely one way to catch everybody’s attention.

The festive season isn’t just about formal attire. We love these Golden Goose Superstar sneakers that have been made exclusively for Net-a-porter. Revamped in rich emerald velvet, we like that the brand’s signature ‘Superstar’ sneaker elements are still present, from the thick rubber sole (scuffed by hand for extra effect) to the silver glitter star. Sneakers, but make it a celebration.

We all have a certain event we could wear this to. 16ARLINGTON founders Marco Capaldo and Federica Cavenati have been known to say that they “design for a good time,” and this dress certainly proves it. Cut from a red sequinned crepe, we love the tonal feathers at the hem and cuffs, and we love the short length of the dress, making it a fantastic avenue to flaunt your legs on the dance floor.

There’s something slightly Serena van der Woodsen about this skirt, which is why our eye was instantly drawn to it. Inspired by Cate Holstein’s college years in New York City, this ‘Eiko’ mini skirt features gold and black zebra stripes on jacquard-woven fabric. It’s the ideal companion for all those cocktail parties you probably have lined up.

Is there any occasion where the Gucci Princetown slippers are not apt? Big fans of the style, we love this red rendition for the holidays, adorned with the brand’s gold horsebit hardware and tricolour canvas. The slight heel still makes this shoe a “proper” shoe, and could pair well with jeans, perhaps, for a Christmas luncheon.

Dress like an angel this season. We love a one-shoulder ensemble, and this Melissa Odabash mini dress perfectly hits that mark between casual and sophisticated. The dress is made from shimmering satin-jacquard that has been woven with Lurex threads with ties at the waist. We love that it’s a very feminine and goddess-like vibe, which makes sense for a lot of us.

Not everyone spends the festive season in the city. If you’re heading to the beach, take your festive spirit with you in the form of a red, green, or gold swimsuit. We love this Hunza G piece (did you know Hunza G designed the dress worn by Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman?) that grazes the hip in the most elegant of ways. With a low back and a high-cut brief, it elongates the figure for a very, very elegant Christmas — wherever you wish to flaunt it.
