Ones to watch: all the labels we love from Siam Discovery’s Fall/Winter collection

Can you really dub yourself style-savvy if you’re not shopping fashion at Siam Discovery?

A true epicentre for all brands that are young, fun, creative, and cool, Siam Discovery: The Exploratorium has recently unveiled their Fall/Winter 2019 line-up, bringing together a specially-curated selection of international brands from runway to rack for Bangkokians to wonder, ponder, and bear.

With a spotlight on innovative brands, the collection features a variety of labels, each designed to inspire a memorable fashion experience and cultivate sophisticated room to experiment with personal style. From Maison Kitsune to AMBUSH, there’s many a contemporary cult favourite, yet Siam Discovery is most notably also playing host to many an exclusive debut brand in Thailand.

Granted, bar the air-con in your office, it rarely gets to really serious Fall or even Winter temperatures in Bangkok. Nevertheless, there is still plenty to shop and stock for your next trip to Niseko, Naples, or just North of the capital. After attending the official launch event, we’ve put together some of the most striking highlights from the Fall/Winter open house. Hypebeasts: consider this your hot list.

A fresh contemporary cool

Siam Discovery has long been recognised as a destination that offers lesser mainstream and highly interesting fashion. As part of the Fall/Winter selection, there’s plenty to admire, from YAYA and Second Female to Oliver Spencer and Universal Works.

A home for all that is modern and contemporary lately, we’re loving the Samsoe & Samsoe collection, a line created by the Danish Samsoe brothers. The brand that hails from Copenhagen brings a classic Copenhagen streetwear flair with it to Bangkok, reminiscent of Scandinavian nature. Think, crisp, cold air by the North Sea — and thereby aptly cosy wool and corduroy jackets to suit. Very European, and very modern in style.

Still worth the hype

Those who have been to Paris and embraced the French fashionista way of life will be familiar with this one. Both a lifestyle and a fashion brand, Maison Kitsune is known for its signature minimal style, decked out with sweet hidden features. Inspired by house music of the 1990s, the collection at Siam Discovery sees various newly designed versions of the brand’s iconic logo patched onto t-shirts, sweaters, sweatshirts, and bags. It’s the work of Maison Kitsune’s newest creative director, Yuni Aha, and it’s definitely still very much worth the hype.

Up-and-coming labels

There are several brands at Siam Discovery which have recently gained quite a buzzed following, from Alpha Industries and Alltimers, over to HUF, and there’s something for both women and men.

For the latter, we’re loving Seoul-based label ADER error, a brand that prides itself in superior textile techniques, creativity, and contemporary design. The latest collection reimagines a Hollywood theme, which is ironic considering ADER error famously never uses celebrities to endorse its products. Must-haves for Fall/Winter here include thick sweaters, knitwear, and hoodies.

Another Asian brand to watch is AMBUSH. The Tokyo-based label brings to Bangkok two of its latest collections, VERBAL and YOON, both of which are inspired by the sci-fi film ‘The Man Who Fell to Earth’. With all materials (and we’re talking hip nylon and wool here), the designs play with the theme across colour and production. A must for all movie buffs.

Hot debuts

Whilst several of the labels showcased are familiar names to streetwear and particularly Asian streetwear insiders, Siam Discovery’s Fall/Winter Open House also welcomes the debut of two trending brands.

The first is GANNI from Copenhagen, with a collection entitled ‘Life on Earth’. Blending together elements of the urban with that of the natural, expect nature-inspired colours and intricate prints and patterns. Whether it’s a light collar dress or a thick wool jacket, GANNI is proof of why the Danish fashion scene is on a serious rise.

Nevertheless, we mustn’t forget that South Korea was always our favourite fashion leader. This season, Siam Discovery welcomes pushBUTTON, an effortlessly cool brand that has often been spotted on Korean celebrities. Creative patterns meet complex textile techniques here, with a subtle hint of sexy retro flair. Dubbed a ‘past meets present’ collection, we’re definitely excited to see this one make its debut in Bangkok.

Global fashion brands

Beyond these hot highlights, there’s still a full handful of international fashion brands to discover. From Acler to the House of Holland, Tela, Afterhomework, and Palmer Harding, head to Siam Discovery to uncover and slip into the upcoming season in real style.
