Spring or Autumn — it’s always tropical in Bangkok city. This is a fact that makes fashion quite tricky for us. As much as we love the tweeds and houndstooth coats of Chanel’s Autumn/Winter collection, it just won’t do in this humid heat. So, how should we dress with both autumn styles and tropical climates in consideration? Nicha Thanalongkorn, the creative director of Thai fashion brand Nicha, has presented a new collection that just might be the solution. With an Autumn/Winter 2019 collection titled ‘Tropical City’, Nicha gives Bangkokians some autumn fashion that’s totally wearable. Here are some looks we love from the latest collection.

‘Tropical City’ is a collection that beautifully combines urban life and wild nature. Architectural structures play a big part in Nicha’s designs, but the details of the clothes are taken from the beautiful intricacies found in nature, such as vines and sunset hues.
The colour palette of the collection is a mix of tropical life and autumn colours — there are blues and yellow, but also olive greens and stone greys.
Something else that Nicha highlights in the new ‘Tropical City’ collection is the feminine body. Each piece creates a silhouette to support the body’s curves and contours. It results in some truly elegant pieces, like this halter-neck mini dress made from silk satin with a lace insert on the waistline.
We also love the tropical-meets-autumn watercolours on this strapless twist minidress. The wool sleeveless suit is also a win for autumn fashion in Bangkok, allowing traditional winter fabrics to be more wearable in our tropical city.
Nicha’s personal centrepiece of the collection is this striped oversized dress with a great curve on the waist and an incredible silk-embroidered vine pattern. It’s a perfectly tropical autumn piece to wear in the city.
