I’m a sucker for a good coffee table book, but I’m an even greater sucker for a beautiful hotel. Last weekend I discovered Escapism(THB 4495) by the brilliant Bill Bensley(who, amongst others, designed some of my absolute favourites: The Siamin Bangkok, the Four Seasons Tented Campin Chiang Rai, and the Shinta Mani Angkor Bensley Collectionin Siem Reap). The hardback consists of over 500 pages of photographs featuring 26 of Bensley’s projects in 12 countries, and is a truly inspiring visual journey through the wildly imaginative world of a creative genius. A must-have for hotel design lovers, the book is actually the first in a series, and you can bet your high ceilings and marble bathroomsthat I am already stoked for the next. — LG
