Weekly Obsessions

With an endless number of luxury labels in Bangkok, sometimes it’s hard keeping up with new releases all the time. At Lifestyle Asia, we’re privileged to get a first look at the most exciting new launches every single day, but it’s virtually impossible to cover every single lust-worthy find we have our eyes on. That’s why we’ve created this Weekly Obsessions roundup, in order to give you an exclusive list of all the highly covetable items we are lusting over — because, if it’s on our radar, it should definitely be on yours. From Dolce & Gabbana’s logo sunglasses to COOKPLAY’s Sushi Pack and Mamonde’s Red Energy Recovery Serum, browse through our top-rated picks to uncover what we’ve been obsessing over this week.

Dolce & Gabbana Women’s Logo Sunglasses

I’m not usually one for in your face branding, but I must say I do like Dolce & Gabbana’s new Logo eyewear collection, which, as the name implies, celebrates the brand’s logo, and in some instances, is quite up front and in front of the eyes about it. Somehow, I don’t find it distasteful but rather quite artistic – after all, Dolce & Gabbana is Dolce & Gabbana. One of the more subtle sunglasses from the collection are these dynamic, almost John-Lennon-inspired sunglasses with round lenses made of matte metal (THB 8,450). The eye-catching feature is of course the contrasting white rubber Dolce&Gabbana Made in Italy logo at the temples. The matte black frame goes well with the white rubber logo and the mirrored orange lenses just do it for me. These sunglasses would be the game-changer for any outfit I reckon, and I like that a lot. – Catherine Napalai Faulder, Managing Editor

Mamonde Red Energy Recovery Serum

A beautifully floral package arrived at my desk on Monday, and though I am not normally one to get excited about skincare products, I may be experiencing a change of heart this week. Whilst I know that Korean skincare is all the rage, I have been a little hesitant to try out any products, in large part because my skin is incredibly sensitive and not a big fan of ‘trendy’ cosmetics (but rather ‘plain-Jane-medicinal’ cosmetics). However, this Mamonde Red Energy Recovery Serum (THB 1,850, 50ml) has a vibe I like. Not as intimidating as a face mask, and far less committal than a face cream, I love the lightness of this serum, which is easy to apply with a clear, gel-like texture. It is designed to boost the skin’s energy (and my own energy thereby), whilst also strengthening the skin’s barrier and creating smooth, radiant skin. I have only been using it for a few days, but I feel a refreshing difference. Also, it was developed following flower research and the science of blossom and bloom. I’m a writer, I love a good story, and that floral tale had me sold, too. — Lisa Gries, Staff Writer

Healthy eating is one of this generation’s hottest trends. And one of the most stylish ways to join the nourishing movement is with ‘Cookplay’, a tableware label by Spanish designer Ana Roquero which is all about eating healthily in cool and creative ways. That all might sound a bit extra, but I love the almost sculptural aesthetic of this Sushi Pack by ‘Cookplay’ (THB 2,980) which comes with a wooden tray, two silver porcelain bowls, and a pair of chopsticks. When your tableware looks this chic, it’s actually great encouragement to try and eat better quality food too. Although if that fails, I’d still be pretty happy with just having it as some post-modern decoration. – Karn Chatikavanij, Style Writer

Bellroy Card Holder

Being an adult is not easy. Why? There are way too many important cards to carry. And if you happen to have a gajillion crucial cards to carry around – like me – it’s very important to secure them separately from your wallet for ease. But being picky, I find it very hard to choose the right card holder that totally fits my style. Most of them are either too big or too small, too ugly or too elegant. But as soon as I saw this Card Holder by Bellroy (THB 2,750) in a sweet caramel colour, I knew it was right down my alley. With its slim shape and the ability to hold up to over 20 business cards, I became even more obsessed with how easy it is to carry this soft, leather-made card holder around in my purse and even in my pocket. – Kankanit Wichiantanon, Staff Writer

Kenzo Chartreuse Leather Pouch

Carrying a leather pouch is a clear sign of someone who has got their life together. For men and women, the carry-all accessory is always a stylish way to keep all your little objects in one place. Kenzo makes the ultimate leather pouch, in bright yellow with a card slot inside (THB 4,850). The colour is bold and brash while the embroidered and applique eye design reminds me of the camp eye makeup that was big at the Met Gala a couple of weeks ago. Basically, Kenzo’s leather pouch turns what was just a utility accessory into a big statement piece. – KC
